100% this. The few seconds from 3:38 to 3:51 just sum it up perfectly. Not that Hagen is a bad singer, but Sly's voice and singing are just so much more energetic, emotional and on point, it's not even a competition.
Kind of ironic, but the comeback of Sly made me realize that he IS the voice of Van Canto, but I also realized that Hagen is, in fact, a really good singer for the band but he needed to take a more aggresive role. The cover of Amon Amarth is a good example of this, and being honest, I don't know if Sly would sing that song.
@@eljote3 yep! Hagen's voice really does justice when he growls or screams. But I'm still not a fan of his clear singing... Sly is the way much better take for the clear parts! :D
@@eljote3 im very much in the same lane of thinking. When trust in rust came out i was abit dissapointed, but if they tweak the music and energy abit to suit his strengths he can be amazing, their cover of hells bells is probably my favorit of their covers, now personally i'd love to see all 3 continue to be lead singer, as Hagen definitely hs alot to contribute with, he just cant replace sly because.. nobody can.
@@NarfZootPui Well, sadly Hagen's singing is the reason I stopped listen to newer VC stuff, which makes me really sad. Hearing Sly again is the best that could happen to me on this album

Definitely, that's one of my favorite things about Bastian, you can definitely tell that he loves what he does, being with all his friends, and his energy just lights up the whole stage! I love these guys so much!!

Love the band and I love how all of their covers gives off "Shitpost energy". Never thought Metal and a capella would work but they pull it off in spades

I just listened to that album the first time and in the moment I realized Sly was back it was clear to me that he was missing badly although Hagen is amazing. VC have never been stronger as they are with the power of eight.

What these amazingly talented musicians do is so refreshing. Sometimes I think metal has become nothing more than a bunch of sub genres. Then Van Canto comes along and makes something totally beyond labeling, just wonderful!
