Your videos are so helpful! Taking my first cruise April 29. In one of your videos you had on a turquoise dress and you said you posted the link. I canât find it but I am desperately looking for that dress!! Can you post the link? I like this one too, but I believe the other one was aqua/blue with bare shoulders! Thank you!
A tip for the bathroom is a small bottle of febreeze spray.
How do I find the items in "the description below"? I see your link for the planner but can't find the link for the items you suggested đ
Hi Ilana! For those insulated tumblers: soak a sponge in water, wring it out. Dribble dish soap on it, and work the soap into the sponge a bit and leave it out to dry. When it's dry, cut it into a few strips. Tuck them in a small zip bag. Now you can wash out the tumblers so your cold beverages don't taste like this morning's coffee. đ Toss the sponge pieces after they did their job
Omg what an incredible tip!! TY for sharing
Is dish soap what in the U K we call washing up liquid ? To me dish soap is what you wash yourself with and comes in a hard bar. I had to read your tip twice then I realised you didnât mean what I thought you did . What a fantastic idea.
@@Philippa- dish soap in the US is what we use to wash the dishes with.
@julie b Thank you I will try this now I know . Next time I go to Poundland ( UK equivalent to Dollar Tree but not as good ) I will get some cheap sponges.
You made it in the new video !
Hi Elana I'm recently new to your channel. I was scrolling CZcams and just stumbled across it. I just cannot believe it. I am in love so in love with cruising and love to keep up on all the cruise news. You are a delightful host! Thanks for having me. definitely your calling
Holland America has: shampoo conditioner, hand lotion, body wash (all in large wall mounted containers in the shower and next to the sink) lots of hooks, lots of storage space, ventilation and a/c are extremely effective, rooms have motion sensor lights on the floor that lead to and from the bathroom, beach towels, umbrella, makeup mirror, hair dryer, hamper, lots of data ports, lots of power outlets (with different countriesâ power adapters). If you choose the soda package they give you a thermal, reuseable cup to keep. I was in an ocean view room but all of these things are available in every room at no cost. There is so much storage space that you can hang everything up and avoid wrinkles. I had a ton of clothes for a 3 week cruise and I wasnât even close to using all the space. They also have a row of shoe cubbies you can use for other things. There was so much stuff that I bought that I did not need, so read up on the in-room amenities your stateroom will have on the cruise line you are sailing with. HA is very accommodating and I think if I asked for a Rubiks Cube they would have found one for me! HA is a more expensive cruise line but trust me, it is worth it! Also, I brought way too much to wear and lugging it to and from the airport was a nightmare. I was on a 3 week cruise and could have brought less than half of what I took with me. Once you are on board youâll realize that you donât care as much about wearing different outfits for different activities ( cold weather cruises may be different, I was on a Hawaiian cruise). I got up every day, pretty much just threw on a casual dress and nice (not flip flops) sandals. Sometimes Iâd wear capris and a blouse. Things that could go anywhere, including dining. Changed out the jewelry and a fancier pair of shoes as needed. I even used some of my casual dresses and cover ups as pjs. I also brought a couple of fancier dresses and a jumpsuit for dressy nights. If you want to know all things HA I can help you out!
Thank you that really helps me. Going on a three week cruise in October - Panama Canal.
Thank you so much @surlywithfabshoes! We are going on our 1st ever cruise, 7 day Alaska on HA. I really appreciate you sharing these things! Any other tips?
One of our favorite cruise essentials (ok, all kinds of travel essentials) is an assortment of cotton bandannas. Many restrooms in ports run out of paper towels or have only hands dryers, which we don't like. Also, if you get hot, you can wet them down and put them around your neck. There are truly dozens (of not hundreds) of uses.
I also bring "potty packs", snack size zipper bags with toilet paper. I usually break the TP into 4- square lengthsand fold them up. A true life saver.
Finally, I make Thieves Oil hand sanitizer, which also works well for deodorizing.
Hi Ilana, not sure if you're still checking for comments here or not, but one thing I wanted to mention that's helpful on cruises with beach days or destinations is a pop-up sun shade. My husband isn't one for sitting in the sun and since we like to go off the beaten path, we sometimes end up on beaches with no loungers or umbrellas. The kind of shade I'm talking about is actually like a small tent, but much more light weight and comes in a carrying case with a shoulder strap. It's like a flat disk when packaged, and operates the same way as the pop-up, mesh laundry "baskets" you recommend. It's been handy not just to get shade, but also to change in and out of swim gear in. It can be staked down or kept in place by weighting the inside, either with our belongings or with rocks. It zips closed for privacy. Another benefit of using it is that if we're both in the water, we can more easily keep on eye on it, both for protecting against theft and to orient us back to where we got in the water (sometimes it's hard to see where your lounger is on those really packed beaches). It shakes off well so sand isn't a problem and it fits in on top of our clothes in our bigger suitcase. There are a ton available on Amazon. Cheers.
Do you have a link for a sunshade you like?
Wonderful idea! I was looking for something more portable. Thanks for the tip! đ
I have to say you are an outstanding presenter. I am cruising after 4 years and I find all of your videos so inspiring and entertaining and informative. You are great and I just wanted to thank you for all your hard work. đ
Thatâs super kind of you! Thanks for watching
Interesting and comprehensive list of items. Not sure I have enough space now to bring my wife đ
With an extra person, you can bring more stuff. đ€Ł
exactly what i was thinking. like, my goodness, how many bags does she bring??!! đ
I take mini electric tea lights on ally trips. Left in the bathroom they provide just enough light to find way around.
Great idea!
To pack chain necklace that might tangle, drop the chain through a drinking straw and re fasten . No packing cubes? roll undies and socks tight ,put in a Ziplock and sit on it to squish
Instead of towel, bands, or towel clips, I use the stretch bands that you use for working out attention fans, and they serve a dual purpose. I can work out with them if Iâd like and I use them to hold my towels in plus itâs easy to pack.
Must pack a sun hat. They are amazing no matter what you are doing and help protect you from the sun.
I always bring a travel size lysol wipes and/or spray. It's great for wiping down the cabin and even your heavily used or touched items such as your phone or lanyard.
Awesome tips. Thank you.
Great Job as always!! Thank you!
So helpful!! Thank you đđ
Love your videos!! A lot of good tips!!
I find that a rash guard is amazing if you burn easy. I have a short sleeve one and a long sleeve one depending on how long I plan to be at the beach. Iâm very fair and turn into an absolute lobster.
I just love your channel! Thanks for all these tips, and I definitely have to get that mesh bag!!!
Great tips & lovely dress đ
Thanks for all the great tips. A few I hadn't thought of.
Very useful thank you.
I have also decided the end of the carry on. One suitcase and a small duffle. That will be it. After 2 medium size bags and a carry on and a small backpack on my 2 week and then 1 week in Europe cruise, I was exhausted especially trying to put all that luggage on and off a train. Never again. One bag, and a small duffle should do it.
Iâm starting to get excited for our Mediterranean cruise! Lots of great tips to try out. Thanks so much!
Thank you for all of your amazing tips and ideas
Thanks for putting all the travel hacks together! đđđąđą
Thank you for all these tips! Itâs our first cruise!
Love that dress! And the tips. : )
The bathroom doors in the cabins are noisy. One thing I always bring is a stretchy headband. I put it over the bathroom door handles inside and out, twisted then stretched around to cover the latch. It is so much quieter when one gets up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.
Thanks!
Taking my first cruise in may so thank you for the tips !
The Binos is a great idea. Thank you
Thank you so much for all of this information! Your videos and YOU are AWESOME!! đ
Great tips, Ilana! Very useful information!! Thank you.
Clothes pins. Hanging wet suites in the shower
Thank you for the link to the dress you're wearing! It looks super cute and versatile. đđ
Fantastic cover up! And the bag? Fabulous.
Love it! I bring static guard!
I love your sundress!
I ordered one for my upcoming cruise. Thanks for all the great tips!
towel bands always work best for me!
We take swim shoes to use in the shower - it can get slippery and if you have any balance issues it can be like having your own adhesive safety strips...
Thanks for your tips about the tags and the sponges with dried detergent. They were super helpful and saved our clothes.
Yup you read my mind, thanks for the link. I just bought the dress đ
As always IIana great job! One great tip for any day nappers or if you don't want to wake up early by sunlight, I bring a few strong clips to help keep the drapes closed. At home we use them as chip clips :) Happy sailing everyone! Sharon
Awesome video. We are heading to Bermuda this weekend out of New Jersey on the Celebrity Summit.
Hi Llana. Glad I found you. Iâm sharing your valuable information to my first time cruiser friends. New subscriber here.
Sewing kit with safety pins is a must for me as well as hair scrunches.
I have been on several cruises and this was extremely helpful for me. Thanks
The Downy Wrinkle is amazing!
Thank you for this video! We just booked our 3rd cruise for the end of this year and I will be adding some of these items to my list.
Towel bands are great
Love your videos! Such a great list of things you have there. Our cruises are both next year. I have a great list saved in Amazon already with your suggestions. Love the passport holder and the nautical carry on bag.
Iâm so glad the videos help as you make your cruise planning list
Thank you. This is super helpful. Iâve probably just ordered almost all of the items you listed!
Excellent vid. So much useful info! I'm prepared and excited!
Yay!! Have a great cruise đ
Thanks! Even after 166 cruises your ideas are helpful!
đ
I wore the same small hoop earrings my whole cruise in June.
Im going on a cruise in 3 weeks (august) and thanks to your tips, Iâll be ready to go! Thanks so much Ilana
I have always taken jewellry on cruise and finally realize I really don't like wearing most of it. The heat usually gets to me, and at best, I might put on a better pair of earings. On my recent Med cruise, I took 2 necklaces and 2 pairs of earings and that was more than I needed.
Love the dressâ€ïžâ€ïž Thank you for all the great travel trips.
Thanks so much
Thank You so much Ilana. Really appreciate your help and hard work helping us out with the things we should/ need for cruising. Keep up the great work.
Youâre too kind!! Thanks for watching and for your support
Thank you, Ilana, for all your tips, hacks and advice. I was REALLY nervous about going on my first cruise (5 nights) but thanks to you I am better organised and prepped than any Girl Guide (Girl Scout) could ever be! My cabin door will be the one with the "Thank You Ilana!" banner on it. Thanks again!
Fifty! đ€© Thanks Ilana
Otherwise how can I share some of the new cute things đđ
I have that dress but mine has short sleeves. I get a lot of compliments on it.
I love your videos. They are informative and to the point!! Something I would add, is earplugs. I leave a few of them in my cruise suitcase.
This is an amazing video.!8 was shocked by the binoculars you would not think of those. Iâm going on my first cruise in a few week and your video was very helpful for packing. I did not know I would need this many items đ đ but Iâm super excited
I am so skeptical of those sand proof towels and then you said theyâre amazing! Lol Iâm gonna have to try one
Love this tips! Will definitely be purchasing some of these items for my upcoming cruise. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed the tips and ideas!
I always take my own beach towel!!! Besides the clips I can find my chair đ»
Your videos are the most informative on u tube! I have cruised several times but still learn something from each 1. Towel clips are a great idea . Agree with all of your suggestions especially - put ribbons or something on luggage to make them stand out! A lot of bags look the same. Happy Cruising!
I love that cross body purse! My jewelry is minimal just to keep things simple. And I have a packing cube addiction. Love them!
Lol, I think I could develop a packing cube addiction too đ
Thank you for this video!!
It was really usefull!!
My experience was the best because I was prepared for almost everything!! đđ€
You are fantastic . I thought I knew everything I needed to know after 12 cruises but I have learned so much from your videos . Thank you
I like the clips
I always take Turkish Towels, can use as a wrap, a cover up, a towel and beach blanket. They dry very very fast, are super light and take up a ton less space instead of cruise towels on excursions.
Hi Ilana, Day 2 today on Celebrity Summit we spent in the Solarium and Persian Garden spa's saunas and rain forest showers. Then we walked Decks 2-9 back to front and back again for exercise. Going to dinner in Blu shortly. Hi from Bob and Jill on the Summit.
Already subscribed and hit the like button. Have quite a few lanyards from other cruises. Don't like to use mobile phone when on cruise. Use sunscreen, but, don't like to hang out in the sun. Don't bring towel clips or bands. Usually bring my insulated tumbler. Forgot it last cruise. Carnival gave us binocs as a gift on a past cruise. Take them with me. Used a packing cube last cruise. It was nice to have and use.
Yes to the no longer changing up my jewelry or wearing make-up since the shut down...
I have all but the laundry bag which I will buy
My husband and I cruise and travel a lot. This is good information. đI found some things to buy. We are going on a Mediterranean cruise in September.
What wonderful suggestions! Though I have done many cruises, I loved the new suggested items! Great information!!! Thank you!
Thanks so much!
I purchased the dress and one more for my cruise in October. LOVE THEM!!!
I canât find a link for the dress! What is the description?
Not sure if it was mentioned - 2 gallon zip lock bags for wet clothes and beach excursions.
Thank you for the informative videos. I recently cruised with my husband, I packed some magnetic hooks and they were great to have for hanging up our hats/visor and have them out of the way. I gave you credit when my husband said what a great idea it was. Thank you!
Yes! Greatest tip: magnetic clip
I am a newbie cruiser. We leave April 15th. I watched a ton of cruise videos, but I have to say yours is one of my favorites. I love how entertaining you are. Thanks for all the information. I have so many questions. Linda
Nix the storebought Wrinkle release. I've found that plain old water in a spray bottle works just great!. releases wrinkles in seconds....Pack an empty travel size spray bottle, then fill with water on ship/destination.
Yes I absolutely love the dress so I bought it đ so comfy and I went on my first of many cruises in May and your videos were so helpful Tysm I also bought my packing cubes on Amazon and they were so useful and my suitcase was so organized⊠I also used my flat iron to iron some of my clothes lol đ.
Lol it!! That flat iron is a good trick
I was skeptical at first about needing a fan bc I remember my room being freezing on past cruises. This time I got a balcony room and it wasnât as cold as I needed it to be so I will be purchasing the fan. Also, next time I will bring lip balm with spf, my lips are hurting lol I did bring the power strip and it was definitely worth it! As well as waterproof phone cases!
This video is one of your best thank you so much I agree about the travel on bags. They make wonderful bags for travel, and they have RFID proofing in them, which makes them great and lock together. Itâs really a super pack. They also make really great pouches to put miscellaneous items in as well that you can see through.
Hi ilana, i love your great channel. I prepare myself to cruise one Day. I am maybe not alone, but it seems to me that leaving your work, you gave all your energy into CZcams. Donât put that much pression on yourself. Maybe only one nice video a week could be fine, so i can find the time to watch it quietly, appreciate all your smart ideas and source some of the products. âĄ
You Deserve a Big High Five for this excellent video. Brillant and Well Done! âââââ
âšïžâšïžâšïžâšïžâšïž
Hey Ilana... that Blue anti theft bag.... take an extra empty key ring and clip the two zipper clips to it to add additional security to deter anyone from trying to unzip it while you are in large geoup areas or even if hanging feom a chair. You will notice when they start tugging at it or it will take longer for them to try to get in and they will give up in pretty much short order.
On my recent cruise on Oasis, I had a balcony room. There was a sign saying that the a/c would shut off if the balcony door was open to save energy. Makes sense.
Long-time traveler, first-time cruiser. I can take a long, multi-country trip in a 40L backpack, but you have mentioned so many things that are specific to cruises. Thanks so much! I've shared it with the other 16 gals I'm cruising with. Thanks so much! đ
Hi Ilana! Your videos are amazing. So many practical ideas. I have been cruising for 20 years. I wish I had your videos back then to get all your great tips. I love the door organizer idea. I do it and I also liked the idea of putting the items before leaving in the suitcase and what I also do is that I write on duct tape whatâs in it and stick it on the pocket. Because I don't always see what's inside.
Towel clips. I love them. I lost my first set throwing them into the laundry skip on the pool deck with my dirty towels. Shower cubicle on Queen Elizabeth not magnetic. Bought special rust proof magnetic hooks to hang up wet swimwear but wouldnât hold. Had to use them in cabin instead. Love all these type of videos. Think next purchase has to be the waterproof phone case.
Great video, thanks! Would not have thought of quite a few of those.
I feel like you should have a segment on Today or Good Morning America for cruising advice! Youâd be so good at that.
Thanks so much!!! Now how fun would that be đ
Iâve done 19 cruises but always search for a packing list .I will save this to remind me for next time
I recently started using laundry detergent sheets. Itâs easy to put a few in an envelope and place it in your luggage. The one I use is fine for washing machines and hand washing too!
Do you have a brand name for the sheets? Thanks
That was a excellent list, I think I pack and use about 90% of the things you have on that list for my cruises.
Thanks!! Glad to hear it lined up with a lot of the things you find useful on a cruise
Thanks for all the great tips! It may have already been suggested but we take Command hooks. You are right that some of the Carnival ships do not have metal walls so the Command hooks work so well. Easy to take off and doesnât damage the wall.
Iâm so glad to hear these work!! Thanks for sharing
Great idea! I think I might bring a few, because even on the ships that have metal walls, not all of the walls in the rooms are metal!
