- This is me unboxing and testing one of TC Helicon's new single pedals, the TC1. It's an adaptive tone and dynamics pedal, and is pretty sweet.
More videos to come about the other single pedals. - Hudba
Finally, the only decent demo on CZcams. Thank you, my guy!
Usefull video, thanks for taking the time
"If I put the gain too high, I suppose it gets RED! It gets ORANGE, it gets REEED!!
Ah, it gets slightly orange, it doesn't get RED, ah yeah, it gets red; There you go... AAHH! I'm piking.." 3:41-3:53. Favorite part!
Great vid and demo man :D
I bought this years ago as part of a bundle of music gear that a skint friend was selling, and I've never taken it out to a gig. I tested it with my new condenser mic today, recording straight into Sound Forge. As I turned the dials and pressed the buttons, I couldn't hear any changes or see any waveform differences. I've got a 'Harmony Singer' pedal, and the Tone button on that does a better job.
I really wish Waves would make a pedal that you could install their VST plugins into - they are the best compressors (and other FX) I've ever used on the VST platform.
Did you try it with a dynamic mic instead of a condenser mic? I've been seeing in reviews that it won't change much for a condenser mic, but will work very smoothly with a dynamic mic for live performances.
I have this pedal. I thought the effects (compresssion/de-ess) were coupled so a left turn on the knob reduced both and a right turn increased both. BUT not so according to TC Helicon (I asked the support department). Turning left increases compression (decreasing de-essing), turning right increases de-essing (reducing compression). At the 12:00 position both compression & de-essing are at 50% each. The manual did not make this clear but I saw it mentioned in another review. Did you know this?
Cool. Thanks.
If the COMP / DE-ESS knob is turned completely to the left, the compressor must be switched off. If this does not happen, update the firmware to the latest version with "VoiceSupport 2" and then recalibrate the knobs:

You can hook it up to anything with an XLR input, so yes, no problem with the Alesis io2!
We just want to hear what it sounds like!,. . .WE DON'T NEED TO SEE IT TAKEN OUT OF IT'S BOX!!!!!!
You need to read the title of the video then and decide not to watch! He did warn you in the title.
This pedal may sound good to you in your headphone, but I notice little difference through my speakers to justify spending $129. I have no problems shelling out for good fx, but this one seems quite weak.
Really useful, thank you.
Thank you very much fot the video. I might buy one!
@Boulpu O.K. Fair Enough!
I was a bit hasty!
Thank you for the demo. I will not be throwing away any money on this. I think it would be wise to spend 30-400 and get a voice live 3 or better. I saw this on CL for 90.00. I can not justify 90.00 for what I hear to be nothing. TC is a very good company.
You didn't hear anything? I heard a massive difference in just this guys talking voice. If wanted only one pedal it seems worth it but if you think you'd ever get 2 just save for the voice live!
The change is more pronounced with a dynamic mic.
@2SugarsPleeze
I know... but I was asked to ;-)
Check out my other vids to hear what it sounds like!
@2SugarsPleeze actually if you look an unboxing video, you want to see the unboxing...
I get an awful hiss as soon as I plug this in, likely due to the fact that you have to plug it into the grid. Solutions?
The phantom power is always turned on on these pedals,probably that's why (if you're using dynamic mic)
so basically this is something that should be in the disclaimer as that's what most vocalists actually use
Also, it's +24V phantom power, not +48V like many condensers need>
Mine doesn't do that. Have you tried it at more than one place plug in? Are you using a power conditioner? Have you Tried a different mic with it and different cables? If so and still a hiss try a power conditioner. They're helpful anyways. Phantom power does not always hiss. If that always gave off a hiss why would condensers that need it be such popular recording mics. You don't even like it for anything, so clearly you wouldn't record with it. It's your power somewhere in the line cable or mic. Possibly a faulty pedal
@ratzzzzigg Now does it ring the mix out in front of the instruments more? Cause I have a hell of a time getting that right after my 3yr old son "rearranges" them for me on my current amp.
heyy, thanks for the video! Do you know if it works as a pre amp?
I have no idea bro ;-) this video is 12 years old and I never used it that much. But I dont think it's intended as a preamp
WARNING: This pedal only supplies _24V of phantom power_ making it UTTERLY useless if you have one of the vast majority of mics that require 48V.
Well yes that's the whole purpose of the thing. Mic > VoicetoneT1 > Alesis > computer > editing software > CD > glory > money > girls
I do not think this will get me pussy.
oh . so i i can hook this on my alesis io2 then hook my mic on that THING right?
can i hook this up on my alesis io2 ?
..prize?
HMMM seeems legit!
Not worth the money, I bought one and was very disappointed. Its no better than using your standard mixer with comp on. It also only has +24 Volt phantom power so is useless with a +48 Volt phantom studio mic, it will just hiss like crazy.
24V phantom (P24) was added to the DIN standard (now DIN EN 61938) in 1979 - joining the earlier P12 and P48. It was added because it allows better power transfer which was thought to be an advantage with more-complex mics. It was actually recommended for new designs in 1996. Really only true condenser mics need 48V for polarization. Many mics that use pre-polarized electret capsules will work cheerfully down to 9V. I imagine the designers of these pedals had not thought it likely that they would be used with studio-grade condenser mics.
@BlueSuedeTom hahhaha
you hit warmth for 2 seconds while mumbling as low as you could. Try not to mumble and speak clearly. Demo each function. Thanks
