Got your efficiency humming there! Love watching you move dirt and love watching that dam rise. Glad the owner is practical about the wheat. This build is so much fun to watch. Thank you for taking us with you and watching you do your talented magic. Can't wait for the next installment.
If Chris keeps getting these larger pond jobs, a CAT 815 compactor is the machine he needs. It can push and compact - saves a lot of time when building fills. And he'd be the first 'Tuber to have one.
Brandon over at Elite Earthworks doesn’t have that packer, but he does have a sheepsfoot packer that also has a dozer blade on it. The packer is only 54” wide so the blade is similar. He has used it, but in his case he has the same model of Komatsu dozer as Chris does so he uses the dozer still. I’ll have to look that Cat up to learn about it. Never too old to learn!! Thanks for the information!! 😊 Edit: just took a quick look at that Cat 815,,,,, ohhh yeah!! I get it now!! Definitely an impressive tool! Now it’s if the work comes along consistently, like you mentioned is enough to warrant the cost!! Ouch!
@@shitloveaduck Can buy a decent older '80s machine for less than $100K. Can get them with tilt cylinders so it all-but eliminates the need for a dozer.
@@ArthurDentZaphodBeeb - I was seeing that. There’s a Chris special for 50K as an 88 model. Another 88 was in North Carolina, but had more hours and needs the right steering cylinder repacked. It was only $40K haha. Jump 12 years though, and even though the hours are similar, the price more than triples!! I like the steering baron the older ones. It’s unique.

Chris is 1 of few now days that actually cares about the job he does. Most people just want a paycheck they don't care to master anything or take pride in their work
That was very smart of you to figure out how to space those piles. I noticed the increase in efficiency even before you mentioned it. I thought at first you were using a heavier dozer. It's really looking good out there.
5 hours after this episode posted I'm eating dinner watching Chris movin' clay like a man poccessed and it's the best so called reality tv there is. No script or fake drama just honest Get it Done hard work moving between the excavator, the dozer and the compactor all by himself. Once again Chris, thanks for the entertainment.
Wow! That is pretty amazing, never ceases to amaze me how you can take a very heavily, wooded scrubby area right with brush, swampy mess, and just chaotic area and turn it into something of wonder and beauty! It is just great to see how you start plan execute, and finish a project and how it transforms into a thing of beauty. Great job it is. it is always great to watch your videos and see you work your magic. Keep it up. Have a great week we’ll be watching intently. Thanks.
For working alone your really making great progress young man. That appears to a significant amount of water already filling in and with little to no rain to help it along, this one is going to be a beauty when you’re done with the project, one can see it developing in every video, thanks for the update, enjoying the series.
Chris, Actually I did notice that you appeared to get with it there towards the end with the dozer and how you were plowing straight through those piles where in the passed you would take bits off the sides and had to spread them out as you went along! Great job, who says an old dog can’t learn new tricks?!? I can see why a guy would get tired pushing all that dirt, heck I get tired just watching you do all that work 😜! WELL DONE!!!
A lot of work for one man. Not sure how much one one additional worker would speed things up, given you can't load a truck while it is dumping and you can't dump a truck while it is being loaded. Same issue with the dozer and compactor work. Some overlap can be done, but doesn't seem like it would amount to much in a single day. Interesting problem. Thanks for sharing.

What purpose does a core trench do and why when you are digging you through dirt on one sid and then a couple of scoops later you through it on the other side
That’s going to be a lake big enough to waterski on. The camera shot at 18:54 with the camera showing the load being dumped gave me a dejavu of a job I somehow remember from years ago of you clearing a home pad on a narrow road to it. Same camera angle dumping dirt into a small ravine to add a turn around spot at the end of the road. Turned my nephew on to your channel. He owns an earth moving company here in California. Does shopping and business centers. Some housing tracks. Says he has to pay near double the rate to get guys to drive to some jobs due to traffic. Not that they’re overtly far, just traffic is that bad. Or he’ll put them in hotels nearby and have rental companies deliver equipment to the site to make it easier for them and more appealing to those jobs not having to sit in traffic with a rig and equipment on it as well as some sites have no parking for the trucks and trailers. He wants out of California.
The roots and logs and organic materials under the dam, but a major reason for it is to lock the dam material into virgin soul underneath of the main dam soil.
If you placed the camera on the dump truck at the corner of the upper-shelf -- not the middle -- we could see the dirt slide out and the target area for dumping.

Working equipment by yourself isn't safe, you need help. The unexpected can take your life. I knew a guy who was alone and got his hand trapped in the electric garage opener, he was there for days before being found.❤❤❤
A little teaser Chris, looks like the camera reacted positively to the scolding it received yesterday. You are incredibly the one man excavating band. Well done sir.
That's the biggest core I've seen you do! I live near a 7000 acre lake and 'Im not sure the dam is that wide! If yours ever leaks it will be a biblical event and then it wont matter! lol
If only it was as easy as Chris makes it seem….watching him knock down those piles all in a row. I mean, all I have to do is think “hey, that top will fit nicely right there, when lo and behold …that is exactly what Chris did”. Now If I can just figure out how stay cool
Wish I lived closer, left coast, I would help give you a hand. Being retired I could always have other projects to help do plus learn on how to use the equipment.
Chris..Mike and Matt, i am so hooked on your CZcams channels, so wish you could ship your merchandise out to the UK, would so love to wear those T shirts
I would like to know why you do a "core trench". I somewhat understand, but not quite. I understand replacing the material with good clay that is compacted to hold the water.
The core trench gets down into original soil that doesn't have a soft layer or sticks or anything that will allow water to deep through and compromise the dam.
Suggestion, when you finish your last dump for each cut, why not stop at the dozer rather than drive all the way back, then, when you finish spreading and rolling it in, you got yourself a ride back to where you load, would eliminate a lot of walking.
I’m curious Chris, when you do Timelapse segments, do you have to select the multiplier ahead of time or only when you play it back on the finished video clip?
Chris I am 65 and I run my son dozer sometimes on my land clearing trees and stumps but not like you I wish I would have started that kind of job when I was young 😢but I don’t have the knowledge to see what something would look like from the start of a hill of dirt lol I just push it around anyway good job my friend 🎉🎉🎉🎉

My favorite moment (~32:00) when Chris had it on time lapse and he is running from his truck to the dozer. Never seen a man move so fast.
More 11:45 …sorry
Apart from when he found the cat in the Cat that one time lol 😂😂🏃
That Komatsu can move some dirt when it's in high gear! 😉
If anyone can do it by themselves Chris, it's you! Best of the best crew with you as lead.
Really good progress today!! Liked the spacing of the piles! Made for an easy push!! Enjoying the camera angles on the dozer - cool views!!

Smart thinking with the pile spacing! Very effective!
Holy Hanna that's a lot of dirt your moving by yourself.😮😮
Dammit Man, you sure do put out some "GREAT DAM VIDEOS". 😊
I was just thinking that! WOW!! That is great to see a dozer just running out of dirt as the next pile comes up. It saves alot of time and Diesel!

You earn your days work when you work by yourself moving all that dirt on 4 pieces of equipment looking good thanks for the video
Great video, amazing what you have accomplished by yourself.closer and closer everyday.that is gonna be nice size pond.kudos to you sir.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Cool stuff! Looking good Chris, it's about time this site started to behave nicely. Keen for more. Be well.😉

Califorina is a good place to be from, a long ways from.
I used to drive a truck into Califorina, the traffic wasn’t that bad, 2am in the morning.
Coming along very nicely Chris, looking good.

Now you tell me lol.

How do you maintain the back of the pond dam from it growing up with trees and brush? It is so tall and steep.
That back slope is a long drop into the trees :-)
If you mean the pond dam, that the way it is suppose to be.
