I actually made this yesterday because it looked delicious, and it tastes incredible!! It didn’t turn out as good as yours, but surprisingly close. And the taste surprised me, I expected it to be more gummy-like, but it was more like a fluffy, soft gummy. I will definitely make it again cause my family devoured it. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Thanks for describing the taste! I always scroll through the comments looking for people thatve actually tried the recipe. Did you coat it in sugar as well and is it pretty sweet?
@@oOLemonzOo Yep! I coated it with sugar, and I wouldn't say it's awfully sweet. It really felt like a professional royal snack with its not-too sweet flavor. The texture is not really like those hard gummies you see in the store. It's more fluffy like a cloud. But the best part is when you bite down, it feels so satisfying it feel it sliding down the middle with this smooth movement. Inside, it definitely feels like an orange. But it doesn't feel like that fake store orange flavor, it really feels royal. You can actually feel the little parts of the grated orange. The sugar really helps too, gives it a stronger texture and it greatness the look by 100x. I mean, look at that, it looks incredible. And I was surprised at how easily the sugar sticked. And let me tell you, the recipe was really easy to make. It felt refreshing to cook it, but I would say the hardest part is the, "fifteen minute stir" but it still felt nice. I know I went all out on this reply, and I'm sorry, but I hope this answers your questions! Hope you try this recipe cause it's super easy and delicious, and hope you have a good day.
How much time you let it cool off pls?
I saw this recipe on a Spanish channel too.
@@yu8dr I let it cool off overnight, but I’m sure you just need to wait a couple hours or so.
OMG we rarely have fruits at home but right now, there are lots of oranges in the fridge and I didn’t know what to do with it because we don’t really eat fruits. Thanks for this recipe, Nino!
Edit: some people in the replies section are attacking me for “not eating fruits” so I’m just gonna explain it here.
Actually we do eat fruits. We love fruits. It’s just that we don’t eat fruits often because we don’t often buy them. And it depends on our mood, so yeah lol. Not that we don’t eat fruit AT ALL.
And at least we eat veggies. Some of you need to calm down and stop acting high and mighty.

After trying this recipe a few times I wrote down these instructions. Feel free to save it in this format.
* Zest from 1 orange
* 1 cup orange juice
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1/3 cup corn starch
* 10 g butter
* Salt
1) Put zest, juice, sugar, and corn starch in non-stick pan, heat over med-low heat.
2) Stir occasionally, keeping mix homogenous.
3) When mix becomes thick like jam, add butter and a pinch of salt. Keep mixing.
4) The candy should eventually reach the thickness of dough, thick enough to mold into shapes. When it does, plop it onto some plastic wrap, make a flat, square brick out of it, and put it in the fridge to cool down.
5) When it's cooled, use a knife to cut it into small cubes. Put these cubes in a bowl of sugar to dust them so they're less sticky.
Note: If the candy is still runny and viscous after cooling down, you didn't cook it long enough. You can still put it in the pan and cook it more, though.
Thank u
is it possible with other fruits?
@@Nobody-uu6ki I bet you could substitute orange juice for other juices, or mix different kinds of fruit together. You would want a flavorful but drinkable juice, I wouldn't, for example, use a whole cup of lemon juice... but maybe something like pineapple could work? Or maybe grape juice?
Thanks!!
How long would you refrigerate it for?
I made this a while ago and it actually tasted amazing. I also dried it up and stored it on a plate and it proceeded to turn into a hard candy. Highly recommend!
This is something that's very common in France, and not just made with oranges but also strawberries, pears, apples... and it's really, REALLY delicious, one of my favourite treats and a bribe of choice to get on my good side. We call it Pâte de fruit (fruit paste)

@@youhecker cool it down first, otherwise it’s too hot.
Is it really sweet or maybe even too sweet? I might make this too.
@@ningkaii148 they’re not too sweet, as long as you don’t coat them with too much sugar. The acidity of the orange balances everything out.

We have basically the same thing here in Algeria, it's called balouza and it is usually made with lemons instead of oranges , we coat it in iced sugar and serve it after greasy meals . I love it so much! And I'm glad to see the recipe in one of your videos, great content as usual ❤️
That sounds so good!
@@thairinkhudr4259 yes ! I really like having it every once in a while being a big fan of lemon flavoured sweets. I could give you the exact recipe if you'd like😊

@@thairinkhudr4259 lovely person on the internet ✨ I present to you the balouza:
500g sugar
180g corn starch
½ l of water
¼ l of lemon juice
All in one pot / casroll , medium heat untill it starts to thicken then you will want to pour it into whatever plate/ tray before it completely holds it shape, let it rest for 4 to 5 hours in the fridge and then sprinkle some iced sugar on top or cut it into squares THEN coat them , whatever method you prefer. Also, it's supposed to be a little bit too sour but it all depends on the lemons you use and your preferences so feel free to adjust it however it suits you, hope you enjoy it and thank you so much for being so lovely have a great day ❤️

And like others have said I'm sure it will work with other fruits as well. Thank you and have a great day🙏🏼🥰🍊 My dear late Mama would have loved this too, especially trying with lemons! I sure wish I could make it for her.
Wondering how this would taste with other fruits. Lemon, lime, and grapefruit comes to mind first because of the citrus flavors, but I'm also thinking strawberry, watermelon, coconut, mango, peach, and kiwi could also be good. I guess as long as you can extract the juice, it'll work.
Yeah probably
Watermelon? Coconut? With finding a way to make those flavours of this dessert, might as well find a cure for cancer!
@@DontLookAtThisPleaseThankYou ?
@@DontLookAtThisPleaseThankYou You can find organic, no-added-sugar juice of pretty much anything. I actually made this candy using an organic cranberry juice for Christmas, and it turned out great!
@@bongjovi4928 I would suspect it's because you add sugar in the recipe itself. If you start with a juice that is already sweetened beyond the natural level of whatever fruit you're using, the end result might turn out wrong. At least if you didn't take the time to find the right adjusted measurements.

OMG! This is sooo good 👍 thank you you for this delicious recipe
So I made this last night and it did take a bit, but not too long. Took me a little over a half hour. I didn't have oranges on hand, but I used pineapple juice (the Yogo Vera stuff. Filtered out the aloe tho). Since it was a sweet beverage, it turned out waaayyyy too sweet lol. But it worked lol. It takes a bit for the mixture to congeal to the first stage (where you add the butter. I used salted butter so I didn't add more salt). But once you get a couple wisps of coagulated juice it goes FAST. So just keep a constant stir. After adding the butter it does take a long while for it to get "doughy"....again keep stirring. I'd probably have it cool at room temp next time. I stuck mine in the fridge overnight and it sweats pretty bad and melts the sugar after about fifteen minutes. Next time I'll try with orange juice. The zest should help make it more tart vs my sweet pineapple juice 🤣🤣🤣
I can't wait that we buy load of oranges so I can try that recipe at home ! I'm sure my younger siblings will love it !
Thx so much it worked and it’s amazing 🤩 🙏
Those cats are so pretty. Candy looked really yummy. So easy.

I didn't really know you could get such good gelling results from corn starch. I'll have to give this a try, some time.
We make this a lot in France and I tried it when it was just the paste in the pan without the butter and other contents, I spread it on bread, it was delicious

Honestly turkish delight is so nice. I find that I like the rose ones best
when you say rose, what do you mean? like the flower? you put the taste of a flower in it?
@@TheRogueEmpire It's rose essence I think.
@@TheRogueEmpire Yeah, it's a common flavor for turkish delight. I've had a rose-flavored gelato that was wonderful, and I get my mom a Japanese collagen candy and gum that's rose-flavored as well. In the latter case, it's supposed to make your skin smell nice as a added perk.
Honestly, there are a lot of floral flavors that are really nice. I've also had a really delicious elderflower drink when I went to Ikea, a geranium lemonade, and lavender coated goat cheese and ice cream. Lavender is more like an herb than a flower when it comes to taste.
