    I have one, same color, same year, mechanical A1. I have loaded it with up to 25 sheets of 8mm plywood in the luggage rack. I load it with up to 5 sticks of firewood inside. This 4runner is a beast. Greeting from Patagonia Chile.

    Looks like an awesome time! Nice job! I got a 5th gen, but 3rd gen are my favorites. That maroon was on sooo many Toyotas in 90s and early 2000s. Easy to notice, because so many were/are on the road for so long!

    Been to Moab, without a 4x4. I have now a 199 Toyota 4Runner 5speed manual. Never have done any 4wheeling, the time has come to this with mine. I love it!

    Great material! Great car, but also a great driver... May I ask what has been customized in this 4runner? I want to buy me a 3rd gen as well but haven't decided yet on which model, I've heard some people referring to the 2000/2001 diesel as one of the best options... Any help is welcomed!

    Holy smokes I use to own that 3rd Gen 4Runner. Took it off road all the time never did rocks, hell I lived about 3 hours out of Moab. Dang never went to Moab when I owned it. Hey thanks for putting this up it was great to see what the 3rd Gen can do, Wow I've never personally given the 3rd Gen much attention as a rock crawler now I must adjust my attitude.

      @@chasechapman4689 Yeah I bought it brand new he smelled like strawberries and was pretty smooth riding even off road. Now I've got an FJ Cruiser and he don't smell like strawberries but I get a lot of looks and the FJ is so much fun to drive but man I can't believe how those 3rd gens made it through all that gnarly stuff at Moab. Put on some more vids man those 3rd Gens were impressive.

      @@chasechapman4689 Yeah I remember going over 100K a milestone but when we cracked 200k he felt like he was breaking in. He ran smoother and got 1 mile per gallon more so from 17mpg we were averaging 18+mpg. Awesome vehicle and I love watching your videos wow!

      breeze787 my cousin bought this at just under 100k miles. I’ve changed a lot to it from it’s original form. But yeah it’s a great rig. Unfortunately she no longer gets 18 mpg haha. More like 15.

      Monty Holland yes, mostly. 265/75R16 KO2’s, Bilstein 5100’s, rear locker, tundra brake upgrade. That’s about it.

      @@chasechapman4689 31x10.5x16 or 33 would be even better for walking Rocks . And for better Rock grip drop your air to about 10 LBS. Most only go to 20 lbs. Much better walkability at between 9-12. I like 10

      Monty Holland 33 would be better. But I didn’t need 33. I like the challenge of doing difficult trails with 31.5’s. I was also aired down to 18 here. I can’t risk going any lower because I cannot forego any more ground clearance as I need it for the trail. I had no problem finishing the trail at all.

      RealOT TripleOG personally I wouldn’t invest in something as expensive as an air locker for a 2WD model. Better off selling and purchasing a 4WD. Hell you could just by a 4WD with the stock e-locker and be better off that way imo.

    I'm not trying to lift my ride anymore than I need but I do plan on off-roading like this. If you did it again would you change anything? How much total lift?

      Brad total lift is about 1.25”. So it’s small. Tires are 31.6”. I’d say this height and tires is as small as you can get by for Hells Revenge and Poison Spider. If I did it again I wouldn’t change a thing. All the major components for off roading are maintained or recently replaced and the rig had absolutely no problems completing the terrain. I’ve invested about $7k total on the rig over 3.5 years so very cheap.

      It’s a 98 SR5 so no center diff lock or factory e-locker but I did put in an aftermarket rear locker.

      GsXtC21 mods are 265/75R16 BFG KO2’s (31.6”), Bilstein 5100’s all around, 5th gen 4Runner rear coil springs (1.25” of lift), rear Spartan locker, Tundra brake upgrade. Everything I need and nothing I don’t is my motto. Has 292k miles.

      Lift is just pieced together. Just leveled out in front with Bilstein 5100’s and in the rear a 1” lift with 5th gen 4Runner coil springs. My UBJ on passenger side is almost toast so I’m finally doing a full 2” lift all around next week.

      Not quite but close. 1.5” level up front, KO2 all terrain tires and a rear locker added. That’s it though.

      There wasn’t really an off road trim back then. This is an SR5 but it has an aftermarket rear diff lock.

      Yes this has a rear locker. Don’t think I’d be able to do all of what I did without it.

      Glock Shooter308 the only suspension work I have done is Bilstein 5100 shocks all around and 5th gen 4Runner rear coil springs. That’s it.

      Not the stock e-locker, no. But it has a lunchbox locker in the rear added aftermarket.

      Devin Western yep. It’s pretty steep and my tires aren’t bald by any means but they’re getting low on tread.
