  • We’ve hidden the power measurement unit inside the DUB spindle, adding just 40 grams to your bike. Using left side power to calculate total watts, this upgrade lets you stealthily gather the data to meet your goals. It’s fully waterproof for even the greasiet of gravel rides, and it’s available in a Wide spindle for compatibility with the widest of mixed-terrain tires.
    1. Use an 8 mm Hex wrench to loosen the drive side crank arm counterclockwise.
    2. Remove the chain from the chainring.
    3. Remove drive side crank from the crank spindle.
    4. Using a rubber mallet, tap the crank spindle from the drive side and remove from the non-drive side.
    5. Pick up the spindle-based power meter.
    6. Use a brush and waterproof grease, and apply the grease to the spindle.
    7. Install the spindle-based power meter into the bottom bracket from the non-drive side.
    8. Install the drive side crank arm onto the crank spindle and tighten clockwise with 8 mm Hex wrench.
    9. Use an 8 mm torque wrench to tighten clockwise to 54N-m.
    10. Put the chain back on the chainring.
    11. Turn the preload ring clockwise until you feel it contact the bearing.
    12. Tighten the pinch bolt using a 2 mm Hex wrench.
    13. Put protective power meter cap on.
    14. Set up the spindle-based power meter in the AXS app.
    15. In the AXS App, press Connect to pair the power meter and add to your bike.

How important is it to grease the entire crank spindle as opposed to just the ends of the spindle nearest the bearings?

Dealer's choice. You really just need grease at the bearing contacts.

I would think that it should. Force uses the same measurements and other protocols as red, just heavier materials, how noticeable that is while pedaling is not something I can answer, but I wouldn't think it would be too much, if any. Just make sure that you have AXS and you should be good to go.

  • @benjaminking844

SRAM pls make this whole thing a lot LESS subtle. The fact that the 10mm cap needs to be left in place then the 8mm inner backed out against it to get the drive crank off is NOT obvious at all and wasted a lot of my time. Also the fact that no references or printed manual in the box of the upgrade DUB crank. Spoils what otherwise should be a revolutionary product in terms of price and simplicity. I had to contact support etc bc of this silent video with no explanatory text etc.
