His guitar is tuned to an Open D which is D A D F# A D. This is truly a beautiful song!!! Awesome!!! It is is simply chord progression which I learned in under a minute. This shows that you don't have to burn up the frets to make good music!!

I am an older woman but I still love him and his music. I found him when the Renegade commercial came on, I had to know who they were and love them all but Sam"s voice is so beautiful. It's an open D major with the capo on 3. So it's (low to high) D-A-D-F#-A-A. Then you capo that on 3.

Parker Record yes I do. I don't know the names but I picked it up from watching and listening! Love playing this. Its an intermediate level song (for me) so its fun to play but not terribly difficult!
I tried playing this in open D with the capo on the third fret and it still sounded way off for some reason :(
