    Resolve is very difficult for me. it’s not impossible, but the learning curve takes awhile. I have a lot of 4K footage shot, and I am to the point where I just want to get videos finished and uploaded. For me I need the momentum, and most of all I need the achievement. I appreciate this video thanks this is a lot easier.

    Been using Movavi for 3 years. You can do A LOT of complex edits using common sense techniques. That said, it lags...A LOT. It is majorly resourse intensive, and has a thing about bloating files on export.
    I just got Resolve, and so far...its the worst 300 I spent. Nothing works properly, settings randomly change, mouse has major issues, and thats not even mentioning the non-intuitive layout or how you dont even have a dedicated command for splitting footage. Hitting ctrl alt f every single time is ...lame. You can edit a whole video on Movavi with just your mouse, where I need three hands for Resolve.
    Resolve also will not do screen caputre. Period. It links tracks in this weird way, so if I have an overlay track, and delete it, it will delete some other clips too. No idea how it decides, so I have to move the overlay to the end as a new clip, edit, then move it back on top of the main timeline. The pages also change things, so if you learned commands, guess what, now they change.
    I may not be a good video editor, but I worked with software that has LOTS of commands (AutoCAD) and you can customize toolbars with the things you use. Why not do something similar? Instead you have loads of commands that need ctrl alt shift backspace semicolon to get to it...
    And probably worst of all, you cannot save a standalone project. I like organizing my old videos with the raw footage, any photos, etc as well as the Movavi file in a folder. I can move it, its all good. Davinci is arrogant enough to not let you save it where you want, instead using a database, and since it only works on Win10 (as far as Windows), if the OS gets screwed up, you lost your work. Sure you can backup the database, and keep doing that quaterly as they recommend, but you will still lose work. With Movavi, its a file. If the installation of Movavi gets screwed up, reinstall and its ok.
    For software that cost so much, I expected something better. I thought it wouldnt just be "throw it all" where ever it fits or somewhere on the screen, without thinking of the end user. Maybe its meant for the 10 people that started off with it since version 1....
    Sure, Im an idiot, I only have a phd in math, so clearly thats insufficient to just "get it". Most of the video editing in the world though is done for online stuff. Most people will not be editing full feature films with special effects and all that.
    And the real kick in the balls, is that my mouse doesnt seem to be compatible with Resolve. It will lag, stutter and do all kinds of dumb crap. The forums are full of fanboys telling you to real the manual...which sure, if I had it, even if it was 5000 pages...But this is what you get when you have a product praised by fanboys. There is no fire under their asses. Movavi doesnt have fans. It has people that dont know of it, or people that hate it. I hate it, but it works, and does what it promises...slowly.
    So far, Movavi though is still faster than Resolve. Its like if Tesla decided to make a car where you steer with your feet, pull the brake with your teeth and squeeze your butt cheeks to accelerate. Will it work? Sure. SOme might even become proficient, but that doesnt mean its good. And fanboys will love it, and when you get the product you wonder why none of those issues were ever brought up.

    • @christopherbyrne7668
      @christopherbyrne7668 Před 2 lety

      Ok I am scratching my head on a lot of what you wrote here (and I will be trying Movavi).
      So here goes:
      1. Why did you spend $300 on Resolve when it is free and you only have to buy studio if you want features that 99% of most non-professionals do not need. Why did you not try it before spending any money? Even worse, studio is free if you buy the speed editor for the same price (and is worth every penny).
      2. You complain about a complex video/audio split shortcut key. It is a single key on the speed editor. On a windows keyboard it is Ctrl+\. How simpler could it possibly be?
      3. Cannot save a stand-alone project? Say what? Everything is single project based in resolve. And clips are not database driven. When you import a clip it is a really a pointer to where it is on your hard drive. And you can save stuff wherever you want in the settings.
      I have no problem using it with the most basic of mouse and keyboard. It has quirks yes but I have never had the issues you are reporting.
      Different people have different needs. I wish fusion were more intuitive (my biggest nit with the program). But Movavi seems to be selling a “Editor for Dummies (and Math Ph.D.s ;)) and they charge for everything that is free in DaVinci Resolve.
      And yes you can customize shortcuts so they are easier for you. You can also customize the fusion toolbar. Not sure about the other toolbars.
      Frankly this review l, based on all the misstatements in it, seems like a shill review for Movavi.

    • @nhaezer5121
      @nhaezer5121 Před 10 měsíci

      You're right to be honest - Resolve could be quite janky and unintuitive. But, I'm using it alongside Movavi atm

    • @RipRoaringGarage
      @RipRoaringGarage Před 10 měsíci

      @@nhaezer5121 I do it too still, because I have no choice with the 265 videos, since Movavi is too slow but when I need green screen or a shorts thing, where the size is different, or if I want to add a gif, all these things mean I have to keep Movavi around.
      Also new things I noticed that are unforgivable from Resolve. It wont take certain file types, and certain mp4s. Most are ok, but some wont work. At all. So I have to convert mp4...to mp4 in handbreak, and then use that. Its beyond infuriating, and whenever I ask on the forum...Im told, read the manual as if I have time to read for 800 pages and study it like the sacred scrolls (when the term Im looking for doesnt show up in a ctrl f mind you...)
      I have type more words on this program that anything else though....

    I~ve used Filmora since about 2017 and loved it but last night I had a large Windows update download. When I went back to work on Filmora I could only access the first video track and got an offer to download the newest version every time I tried to access a second video track. I make Spac Rock videos. That means I right mz own music track and add a main video track. I then gab various fx and transitions to space it up a bit. What I particularly want to do is to add other footage of freakz things like UFOs, Aliens etc on the other tracks as transparent images. Much like mixing and blending sound. Can I do this with Movavi. For example mz music with a main video track of a sci/fi picture with saz some footage of a UFO sighting or something at the same time with the image_

    Movavi I think it's great video editor software for someone who doesn't need to do professional work and got not a powerfull pc or Mac. Naturally Premiere Pro or Final Cut or Davicini (+After Effects ) are gonna be always the first choice

      @@JayLippman actually I'm working with PremierePro and After at work but at home with my powerless MAC need to use Movavi (lighter and export ligther) and I'm good at it for project in full HD (no need 4K)

    Good review. Looks like I found my perfect editor. Your video made it tough to read the screen text because you didn't use PiP, instead opting to waste space for your webcam footage. I'm here to look at the app, not you. If you have moments where you are narrating and not actively doing stuff in the app, cut to you or use PiP popups.

      Thats what I do in most of my videos, and what I originally wanted to do here, but going that long with nothing but screen recordings came off as boring, so I changed it.

    Mac only make it hard for 90 percent of the world using PC.

      What do you mean Mac only? I'm using this on Windows.

      @@JayLippman Click the link from your video to get Movavi and look in the upper left corner where it says for Mac. SO I do see now that it in on windows only because you said it works on your windows machine page but really bad website design and it doesn't say windows on the landing page to make it look like For Mac

      Interesting! I didn't realize they made it so hard to find the Windows download.
