idk what it is about this video that makes my heart warm. my grandma found it one day and we watched it and pointed out all our favourite movies we saw, and we had just a great time. whenever i hear this song now, i think about watching this with her and doing a little boogie in our seats and going "look what movie it is!" there's such a diverse amalgamation within this short compilation of people just dancing and having a good time. the human population can be so easily brought together by movement, no matter if you're good or bad at it. dancing is such an expression of self and this video somehow captures that perfectly. i've had this stuffed in my favourites playlist for such a long time and i'm so glad i've kept a tight grip.

MsTabularasa- I've been a video editor for 24 years. I'm highly critical of compilation videos on YT (because they're so ubiquitous and most people just don't have a real knack for putting footage together.) This is absolutely one of the best I've yet seen. Not just because you sync all the flourishes really well, but because you actually cut the shots together to flow very well. It practically feels like the footage was shot with the *intention* of being cut together this way. That says a lot for your skills. Congratulations on a video very well done. I just finally watched the band's official video and I like yours way better. Kudos! Keep up the good work.
Oh, also, two final likes in particular: 1) That shot of Brad Pitt from Burn After Reading - I loved that movie, and the Coens are among my favorite filmmakers ever, but if you paid me a million dollars, I wouldn't have been able to recall that shot, and you used it perfectly. Awesome memory you have, and great resourcefulness. 2) Ending on a shot of Faith the Vampire Slayer. Even if it was from Bring It On. ;-)

This song, and specifically this movie compilation just makes me happy. I was at my local hangout bar one night and played this song on Touchtunes and got the entire bar up and dancing to it. There were maybe only a dozen people, but complete strangers dancing around together, hooking arms and being silly....so fun (and perhaps a little too much alcohol for most involved). :)
I literally show this to everyone I know, if someone is down, this is an automatic uplifter! So insanely well edited, perfect scenes used and It is just perfection.
Only an Editor can truly appreciate the talent involved in creating this Excellent work , especially considering this was many years ago , not the software of today..Bravo

This is far and away the most brilliant, perfectly-spliced and edited, detailed and thoughtful video ever done, bar none. Whenever we need a pick me up on my family, we just turn this on and joy ensues. Well done and thank you.
My wife and I have been watching this video all weekend. What I love: 1) It makes me feel young...-er. 2) The wide range of movies, not just in the type of movie (Comedy, Romance, Drama, etc.), but also the wide range of "quality," for lack of a better word. Some movies were critically acclaimed, some not as much, and some not at all. I love the "Kick-Ass" clip for this reason; they're just rocking in the car, nothing fancy, but it fits beautifully. 3) #3, the scene from "Something Borrowed." Out of all the movie clips in this video, for some reason this one sticks out for me. I've never seen the movie, which brings me to.... 4) ...how the video makes me want to see every movie that was included. 5) The dancing from all the clips is in step with the beat of the music. If you watch closely, you can tell the creator had the attention to detail to match the clips to the music. I would guess it's a combination of (a) choosing dance scenes with a tempo close to that of the song, (b) short clips mean the movie scene ends before the dancing becomes out of step with the music, and (c) adjusting the film speed to match the music. 6) The song itself. When my wife and I are not watching the video, we're listening to the tune. 7) Chris Tucker's moves. 8) How the slower dancing fits in with the music, from "Dirty Dancing" (2:27) to "Beauty and the Beast" (2:38). The energy is reduced for a few bars, setting the song up for the finale. A couple of comments along the lines of "if I had done it:" 1) If I could change once movie clip, it would be replacing the scene from "Shall We Dance" (2:04) with a scene from the original Japanese movie of the same name. It was a great movie (see it!), and including it would've added to the international touch of the video. 2) Scenes that could've been included: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis in "True Lies," the slave girl from "Return of the Jedi," "Chicago," any classic movie such as "Guys and Dolls," Peter Boyle and Gene Wilder in "Young Frankenstein," Charlie Chaplan with the rolls and two forks, etc..... 2b).....and everyone will have a scene that deserved inclusion. In the end, I would not replace a single scene (except for #1 above), as part of the joy of this cut is seeing clips I would never have seen otherwise.
If it hasn't been said already: activating the closed captions will list the movies on screen for each scene shown. Also, this is totally enjoyable. It made my day.

From a creators perspective it's a little sloppy, if you focus on the video you can notice that between each clip there is a black screen, though it's not really noticeable to those who haven't experimented with this type of stuff. No offense to the creator though ^^
+Ssketch That's really what you focused on? What I noticed was that the resolution and aspect ratios varied from clip to clip, which the creator really can't help - you have to work with what you can get your hands on. The black frame between clips is an old editing trick I learned from physically splicing film - it can make for a cleaner transition than just butting two disparate scenes together. I hadn't thought about it before, but I don't know how that would translate to the digital world. In any event, even with the shortcomings, this video is still far, far better than the official one.

From a creators perspective it's a little sloppy, if you focus on the video you can notice that between each clip there is a black screen, though it's not really noticeable to those who haven't experimented with this type of stuff. No offense to the creator though ^^

+Ssketch That's really what you focused on? What I noticed was that the resolution and aspect ratios varied from clip to clip, which the creator really can't help - you have to work with what you can get your hands on.
The black frame between clips is an old editing trick I learned from physically splicing film - it can make for a cleaner transition than just butting two disparate scenes together. I hadn't thought about it before, but I don't know how that would translate to the digital world.
In any event, even with the shortcomings, this video is still far, far better than the official one.

A masterclass in editing
I'm rewatching this with my two teen daughters, they love it too. I think this is in my top 10 favorite videos ever.
