      I have nothing to gain by hiding my mistakes. One of my main goals of being on CZcams is to help other people get into building and I think it's better to show the mistakes so everyone can see the real issues that can be encountered when building a guitar. I appreciate your comment and it makes me feel good to hear this! ✌️🤍

    The fretboard remake, is one of those things we call a Happy Accident!
    Although it cost you a bit more time and initial frustration,
    WE (the viewers) got a great tutorial on fret board layout , slotting and mounting.
    The "Tape" thing is an ingenious idea as well.
    Had that hole not gotten hogged out too much, we'd have missed all of this!
    And like you said, you can still use it on another 22 fret project, no not really a loss!
    Thanks for sharing another great video!
    Peace, Brother

    Awesome dude. I was happy to see you mention the importance of a caul for fretboard clamping and clamping from one end to the other. I've seen a lot of people not take that into account. I saw somebody use a veneer for a caul lol I think just to mitigate markings from the clamp. I have a cork backed caul that's tapered to match the neck. Great work brother.

    • @SweetTGuitars
      @SweetTGuitars  Před rokem

      Thanks man. The more I thought about tbe fretboard glue up the more I thought I needed to make that thing. I've always been a little worried about that when I'd go to sand in the radius, having wavws in the fretboard! I have also always thought it was a good idea to clamp from one end to the other so no tension gets introduced! I'm hoping this does the trick!! I love your work brother!!✌️🤍

  • @PaulCooksStuff
    @PaulCooksStuff Před rokem +2

    Reusing it on a 22 fret is a good plan. In the Ben fashion of making it complicated for no reason and turning mistakes into features, I wonder if you could even rescue it as a 24 by having fret binding around the whole board and into the nut wheel cutaway too 🤔

    • @SweetTGuitars
      @SweetTGuitars  Před rokem +1

      That is an excellent tip brother. Yes I could do that. I still have the Katalox fretboard and will think about doing this to it if I decide to use it on a 24 fret guitar in the future! Thank you! Peace & Love

    From the first time you laid the neck flat on the table when the light hit it showing all that figure in the maple I was hooked. sorry to hear about the Katalox I was looking forward to seeing that on a neck after seeing Betts build last year as a top. Great watch as always Todd and I always pick up a little tip or trick. I think you made the right call with the katalox and the ebony will look awesome. Never contemplated clear dry wood glue. Does it make for more ‘invisible’ dust and glue patching?

    • @SweetTGuitars
      @SweetTGuitars  Před rokem

    I love Ebony, this neck is going to be “the killer”.
    When using my guided saw I do not use wax as a “lubricant”, I started to use “toflonised” lock lubricant (it was laying around in my workshop and I was to lazy to walk over to the house to fetch some wax 😉). I rarely have to relubricate, the Teflon is well attached to the saw and guide.
    Just to give my two cents.
