Thank you so much for just a clear and detailed video. This was so helpful.
I have been struggling with getting my Sony ZV E10 recording in 4k using both avermedia and elgato capture cards. This video was a life saver. Thanks for the content!
I'm glad it was of help to you. Is the Avermedia card a 4K card? Are you recording to the card in the camera or to an external device?
Thank you so much for this Phil, really helped
I’ve watched so many of these videos to setup my camera and this was the best one! 👍🏻
Indeed. I agree with this comment. I had the same experience after watching so many others then stumbling I this.
This is incredibly helpful. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome Tutorial!! Thank you, Phil!!
Phil! This is an incredible tutorial. I love your pacing and how you care about guiding a newbie to understand how to set up the camera. Hats off. I wish all the best with your channel.
thank you so much for your kind words. I'm glad it was of help to you.
Thanks so much for this video. Super useful. Many aspects that are not mentioned in other videos.
Thank you, Phil. This was really helpful!
Great tutorial! Many thanks!
Very helpful, thanks!
This was really useful, thnx!
You save me from this video! I was struggling with the settings for days. Thank you! By the way you have a very nice accent!
wow, you are a true teacher i will learn from you, thanks for this very thorough tutorial!
Amazing video for streamers like us, thank you for your work and your teaching !
Great video, I’ve just had drama with my ZVE10 and Elgato camlinkpro, changing output from auto to 4K/HD solved it :)
This was so helpful. And there is even a PDF! 😭Thank you!
Thank you!
very helpful. and a pdf gift. wow
You're welcome!
Thanks!
Very helpful! Does this camera go to sleep when outputting over HDMI (no USB connected) after a certain time period or does it stream indefinitely until either battery dies or it overheats? I plan to stream 4k over HDMI to the Elgato 4k into OBS with a dummy battery. Do you also happen to know if the Picture Profiles pass over to OBS? OBS doesn't support HDR so I can't use HLG. I plan to use Cine1 to be able to do some light color grading with Davinci Resolve. Will this "carry over" or will I have to record straight to SD card to maintain the color and dynamic range data? Thanks in advance!
1. dies or overheats. 2. Internal setting on the Sony pass over HDMI. 3. Cine1 - I don't know it
How did you solve it in the end with OBS?
Does it crop in in 4k?
So if you use the sigma 56mm 1.4, you have go even further away?
No 4K cropping on the ZV-E10. It’s magic.
Hi Phil great video - are you able to get the audio off the camera into Ecamm Live with this capture card ? I tried not much luck - maybe this capture card only gets the video footage
Select Cam Link 4K in the Ecamm live sound levels menu.
Hey Phil! Thanks for this video. I was wondering if ZV-E10 crop the image when you change the resolution say from 4k to 1080p e.g. does it make u see less, lesser field of view? Thanks
if you use the settings shown in this video your field of view in Ecamm software uses the full field of view with the ability to Zoom in, this is why using this method is recommended.
Honestly not planning to use ecamm or anything. I'm looking to get this model with a prime lens. This is my first camera so I'm essentially wondering if there's a way to zoom in by changing the resolution. Some cameras do that so I wonder if sony cameras do @@HelpfulPhil
So if I understand right the zv-e10 maxes at 720p as webcam/streaming. If I want higher then 720p I need a capture card? It lets me stream in 4k?
Yes, the USB output of the ZV-E10 is 720p. The HDMI port outputs 4K with the correct settings as per this video, and requires a 4K compatible Capture Card.
Great info Phil, I can stream with USB, but it lags slightly, and when I try to use the HDMI with a capture card, I don't get a signal to my Mac, what setting am i missing?
Are you seeing the Capture card in the list of 'Cameras' (e.g. CamLink 4K )? If not, its probably your capture card. If you see the card, you might simply need to restart your software (e.g. Ecamm ) after you've turned on the camera. Otherwise, make sure to follow by the letter this video. Make sure you’ve got a 4K card too.
@@HelpfulPhil thanks for the reply! Yes I see the capture card (camlink 4k). Using Streamyard. I’ll try the restart of the stream service and see if that helps.
@@HelpfulPhil My Selection for "toolbox" page 2 shows the 4K output as "greyed out" not available. Any suggestions for that?
@@LivinginLakewoodRanch that sounds like the camera doesn’t know that it is connected to a 4K Card. Make sure that the camera is connected to the Capture card when setting 4K.
so do i plug the elgato cam link into my mac book right before i upload a video to youtube?
? You need the Cam link in to record video onto your Mac. You don't need it in to upload video to CZcams.
Connecting the 4k Elgato using a HDMI to Micro HDMI cable
Or can we use a HDMI to USB-C cable ?
HDMI comes from your camera, so does your camera have USB-C out ?
Hey man. Not sure if something is wrong. I have set my camera to 4k and I have the memory card+hdmi option selected in "4k output select" When I check HDMI resolution in the camera the best i have is 2160/1080p. What is wrong? If I go into OBS and add the camera is says the resolutin is is 3840x2160. So does that mean is working in OBS or what is the deal?
You need to have your 4K capture card connected. OBS resolution is not related to what is output from the camera.
@@HelpfulPhil it I connected. I'm using the el gato
Does it need to be connected to a 4k screen or something? I am connecting it to my laptop, which has a broken screen at the moment so I am using a stationary screen for my laptop at the moment.
Just re-read your original message. Perhaps your in-camera settings need to be changed. I never record to the camera memory card as I'm using this for recording only to a computer.
@@HelpfulPhil Ah, cool. I can just put it to hdmi only and record to my computer then? In that case it doesnt really matter that much :)
any preference/recommendation on the HDMI Mini lead?
Not really. Amazon shows lots of options. Get one long enough for your camera to computer distance.
What SD card do you recommend? I’ve tried everything :(
you don't need a specific SD Card for Live streaming following this specific tutorial. I happen to use SanDisk but that is not a recommendation or validation.
I can only upload in 1080 but I use an 4k C Cable..... Are you saying we STILL need the 4k Adapter to get 4k into CZcams?
You must have a 4K Capture Card (e.g. Elgato 4K) to capture 4K video to your computer. It has no effect on uploading to CZcams.
even when connecting to a macbook pro?@@HelpfulPhil
When I first set up my ZV-E10, using a Camlink 4K from the mini HDMI intio my iMac Pro but latently, I’m having major video lag and also audio lag. It’s not my internet connection as I’m getting 20 upload. What happened? Any solution?
Depends what you mean by 'lag'. Do you mean a difference between Video and Audio, or a delay when streaming live ?
@@HelpfulPhil i fixed it late last night after posting this. When I was in zoom, I’d wave my hand and then literally a full second later, my hand would wave and same thing with talking. Someone had recommended changing the USB port so I did and also unplugged my Logitech webcam in the USB-C port since I’m not using that anymore and then it worked! I didn’t think I’d have issues since I have an iMac Pro and the only other devices I have plugged is my time machine backup drive and Dymo label printer.
Can zve10 output Audio microphone via HDMI?
Yes, the HDMI carries audio from the built-in or externally connected microphone.
Can zve10 output 100fps in 1080p via HDMI
No.
Little strange: at 9 mins u show a setting on Page 2 ToolBox Below the HDMI Resolution option the 24p/60p Option. I dont have that option at all? When I say at all I mean not greyed out. just it does not appear at all.
I don't know why. Maybe it’s an NTSC/PAL related setting. I use NTSC. Also are you on the latest Firmware v2.00.
@@HelpfulPhil I was running v1.0. I thought as I recently purchased it . it would have the latest firmware. BUT still i do not have that 24p/60p Option and I am also in NTSC/PAL Could it be the kit lens as that shows v1.0 ? Thank you and great video..
My “4k Output Select” is not available - even when plugged into 4K Cam Link. Any ideas?
have you followed the instruction at 05:35 ?
@@philbinks thanks for reply- yes I have. The problem was it wasn’t plugged into the cam link at the time of adjusting settings. Hope that helps others too. Thanks
@@philbinks I'm having the same issue. No matter what I do its grayed out. I noted the comment below. Im connect to a mac book pro. Any ideas?
@@arlenrobinson1192 are you connected to an Elgato Cam link 4K? if not you need to be (or an alternative 4K compatible capture device).
@@HelpfulPhil yes but I think I connected to the wrong port on my camera. I connected to usb-c and not the micro hdmi port. Just ordered the right cable. Will try tomorrow.
I dont have "hdmi settings" at all in my meny. And 4k output is greyed out
You need to be connected to your Mac with a 4K compatible capture card. 14:30mm:ss
@@HelpfulPhil Yup. Heard it later on. WIll try this later this week when my card arrives. Do you know if I can record in NTSC btw? I live in a PAL country, but some in some videos people say that it is better to use as it gives you more options with framerates etc.
@@vikingexploring Yes, PAL & NTSC are available though I don't think they affect online streaming/recording quality, as typically you can select a frame rate which differs from your camera in Ecamm or OBS, with other screen recording software not even giving you fps options. I use NTSC, and just changed to 24p to match my Ecamm fps setting.
Am doing 4K but my face on OBS is grainy… I double checked my camera my camera settings and everything is perfect
you make sure that you have good lighting to reduce the ISO value and check OBS settings. E.g. in regular use my settings are :- ISO 100: 1/60 : f1.4
The grain must be caused by something else. I have a set up where my exposure settings are f5 s60fps and iso1600 and the image is clear and sharp when I record with OBS. I have the camera set to 4k with 24p100M. If it is set to 30p60m there will be a crop factor and this may be the issue. 24p100m is wider but in OBS you can stretch your image to zoom in. This has given me a much sharper and pleasant recording. Also, my bit rate in OBS is 3500kbps. I record using mp4 with quality set to indistinguishable quality. Under video settings the base and output canvas sizes are 1920x1080, downscale filter set to Lanczos, and common frame values set to 30. My recordings look phenomenal…thanks to the help from this tutorial.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that if you zoom in with your camera your recording will be sharper as opposed to using OBS to crop in. When to use one method over the other is a long story. I could make a video if you are interested.
@@sandrayounger9170 Thank you so much 😘
@@sandrayounger9170 you have iso of 1600??? Or mean 160 ? That’s way too much
@@japheth1100 1600
Helpful but you stay on each subject way too long
thanks for the feedback. Maybe 2x speed could work for you as a faster learner👍🏼
Could you please be more quick and precise next time and not remind us what you plan on doing, and instead just do that? 5 minutes in and I still don’t know how to set up 4k…
You can use some of the built in CZcams features such as replay speed and chapter markers to get more quickly through the video.
