I honestly prefer buckhorn and bunny ear bars. They're a lot more comfortable for touring because your arms are at a more natural position, but that also makes for a more natural translation to steering. I've got two bikes; one almost 700 pounds with drags, and the other at 600 with bucks. I'm able to take extremely tight u-turns with the buckhorns but can barely make a left or right turn bith my drag bars.
Imo, if you're a beginner rider like myself, get buckhorn bars. They're comfortable, easier to handle, and a lot more stylish!

Very similar to the roll back bars on my 68...650...BSA LIGHTENING. THEY CAME STOCK BACK IN THE DAY. LOVED THEM.

My first 1976 Sportster had buck horns. I really love them. I turned the bike into a bobber in 1978. I have a Sportster forty eight now and I hate the bars on them, I was thinking about a two inch riser with beach bars, but I would love to find buck horns that fit it. I have looked high and low and know one seems to make them that will fit. Any body out there know of a fix that I can do to make them fit? at 65 I feel like a clam with arthritis driving with the stock bars.

I love buckhorns. The ones that are standard on 90s softail springers are perfect. Just little less sharp of an angle compared to those. Stupid comfortable.

Only thing I’m seeing about these converted buck horns is when you wanna heck your brake fluid you have to tip the bike on its side or remove the brake master cylinder or reset the handle bars twice…. Idk about that anymore

That actually would be kind of freaking cool. I had buckhorn handlebars on my 97 Yamaha Virago and it was amazing. I wouldn't mind getting another Cruiser after I sell the one that I have now hopefully it'll come with buckhorn's, you don't see them very often.

Step one would be to ditch those cam chain tensioner shoes and replace the cams with gear drive 509 cams and a high performance oil pump, which can be done for around $1500-$1800 . Then get some decent bars and mirrors. Maybe upgrade that suck ass headlight to a Daymaker projection headlamp. It's a solid bike except for that cam chain tensioner shoe thing. I've got about 50K miles on mine now. Love it. Wouldn't trade it for any other bike in the world.

'this bike has 2,900 miles on it', is that alot for a Harley? I have no clue. Coming from a Honda, to a Yamaha, only one thing they had in common, 50k miles is essentially finally 'breaking in' most old carbed bikes. It's absolutely insane. My Maxim is blasting along with its original 1982 engine, and believe me, from the maintenance I've already done on it, it was ran to the edge and abused heavily. Have a second one I plan to do a ground up build on. Nothing beats the sound of a carbed bike revving past 9k rpm. What's a long living HD engine typically seeing before rebuilds?
