Christmas puppy miracle - rescuer was bitten by TWO DOGS but wouldn't let go!!!

The rescue of Linda, Stella and Falabella was challenging, it took place on a very hot day, and it was in a huge open area with many dangers all around... from cars, to the train and many coyotes in the area. Luckily, I had Loreta Frankonyte with me, and together we were able to accomplish the mission successfully.

It's amazing seeing dogs like this turn around as soon as they feel they're safe. You realize that they aren't vicious- any dog will bite if they're scared enough. There is one dog at my shelter who'd been neglected and is still terrified of strangers, bearing his teeth and growling, cowering on the ground. But when you gain his trust he's completely different. When you walk up instead of cowering he runs to the kennel door and wags his tail. He's a normal dog who *loves* fetch, walks and belly rubs and is easily trained. I am so grateful that the shelter staff decided to give him a second chance instead of euthanizing him. After 3 years at the shelter, I plan on taking him home as soon as I move out ❤.

Incissy Also you’re correct that only 14 people have been known to survive rabies, but you failed to mention over 95% of rabies deaths occur in third world countries where treatment isn’t available. Yes, it is a deadly disease, and YES there are vaccines for it.

For those who don't know, dog bites are incredibly painful, especially right at the start and for a long time afterward. So Loretta you are an absolute darling and a hero for keeping going, though I would never doubt that you would anyway as I've seen dozens of these videos.

I think most people know dog bites are painful. It's kind of silly to say people wouldn't know that. We're taught that from early childhood--it's a little like saying people don't know that putting your hand on a hot stove is incredibly painful.
As an aside, Hero is a female name from Greek mythology. In Latin, the word “heros” was borrowed to mean more specifically a person with superhuman strength and unbreakable courage; one who protects and defends others in a self-sacrificial way. Shakespeare was certainly far from the first person to use the name, and anyone with half an education knows the play.

TheIronGiant, she’ll be ok. She just needs to keep her wounds cleaned and bandaged. They didn’t look too deep. And as for the dogs, I doubt they’ll do anymore biting. The only reason they bit to begin with was because they were terrified.

Obvs. What I'm saying is I'm glad that they included more footage in their edit so we were gifted with a longer video to appreciate the work and effort that went into saving these dogs and giving them a new home. And seeing said dogs happy now. When they're 4 or 5 minute videos, I'm left with wanting more content. This video was 3 times as long, which I was grateful for.

What I admire her is that people's natural reflex is to let go after being bitten, but her determination to help the dogs is much stronger and didn't let go no matter what.
@@MsNoPixel It's hard to get a grip on the dog with gloves on. She needs to grab the scruff. Plus she was holding the leash on the mother dog. Why does there have to be "fault"?
I thought the same to have gloves, but also realised the grip won't be as good. When it comes to their rescues, they want the best way in grabbing a hold, since it can determine the result.

The dogs are afraid regardless, they should at least wear strong leather gloves, that would not make any difference to their fear.
she was wearing gloves at the begining but my guess is that the gloves made it harder to catch the dogs. Also the hot weather and gloves may have make her hands sweat and gloves came off during the chase. those type of gloves she was wearing are very dificult to manipulate. they should use smaller gloves, not gardening gloves
I think she likes petting them to much to wear gloves.

Loreta is such a kind, gentle person :) I love how she continued to stay calm and treat the dogs well; even though the body's natural response to that is fight or flight, she did neither.
@Top Pay Position I'm not sure if I agree 100% after all I've been taught, but thank you for the information, that does sound reasonable and I'll do more research about it :) I think the point of fight or flight is more to say that the first natural reactions to conflict tend to be fear or some variation of anger, so I wouldn't necessarily say it doesn't exist. Just that it's a lot more basic than what you described.

Pitt bulls have the highest pressure points for biting! She has a lot of patience with these sheep dogs and they are hard to handle sometimes.
