Man sounded like he started tearing up. I hope he follows through.
In England, they aren't as kind when you owe a debt. Don't pay, get sued and they win, they can and often will send people to your house to literally take away your belongings to sell them at auction to pay off your debt. That being said, I am surprised some people seem shocked that they don't just go away and will often take them to court if they feel it is worth it.
that's why we separated from England. long ago.
Another example of England is run by losers and elitists
@@hvaball150 honestly England sounds cooler in that respect.
@@hvaball150 Because we didn't want to be held accountable for debts that we owe?
Doesn't sound from worker friendly there in paradise
For the young man caller who didn't have a great upbringing, he just received the benefit of tough truth from men who care about him.
When he said 8,000 a year my brain heard 80 thousand. I couldnât process making 8,000 a year! Oh jeez
âTo be honest with youâŠâ the words of a lie coming next
Excuses kills growth...đ
John and Dave just threw this youngster a lifeline. I hope he has sense enough to grab on and run with it.
***George and John...not Dave
This is another call leaving me wishing that there were a way to very directly assist this young man because I believe the feeling he would get from people gifting him even small amounts of money would equal a comfort that he probably never received growing up
2 to 3 jobs lol just don't pay them fuck them. Advice from ripping of people for free money
Has 4K to put down on a vehicle and did not bother to pay off Best Buy??
He thought that the debt was going to disappear and not worry about it ever again.
...and it will in Florida
@@hvaball150 why?
this is financial literacy at its best. Debt donât disappear đ unless settled or paid
John is getting better. Also, the caller is in a mess at this moment but he sounds like a good person and I think hes gonna get through this.
Heâs being lazy, heâs young and many people are like this when they are in their early 20s. He need to go get his debts in order. Get onto his feet and continue his life
His show is pretty good too.
Just answer the kids question, I'm sure he's already shitting bricks as it is from thinking he's getting sued.
Ikr these guys act like they are his dad wtf
Gave a young boy a much needed Grown Man Conversation.
Well done.
The same thing happened to me.......got served papers from an old debt.......called the firm handling the case and negotiated a settlement......I work pretty much from sun up to sun down...... whether it be my mechanical business selling portable buildings or mowing grass......For the most part I have money coming in on a consistent basis and paying my debts down every day........I hope this guy takes things serious and is able to pay off his debts and start putting money away......after that the sky is the limit........
I lived in Gainesville. I went to college out there.
You can get a shared place to live for 300-400 and I had a studio for in the $700s.
Thereâs plenty of bars or restaurant jobs. Also, loads of door dash etc. you chose to not make any money.
Agree he needs to get a an additional full time second shift job or multiple other jobs.
Why not just a higher paying 1st and only job?
They may sue but they can't collect!
How so?
Super excited, I paid off my vehicle loan today, two years three months! Now just the home left! Thanks DR.
Very exciting!
Great sounding Young man. I really hope he gets some guidance around him as he goes through this journey. Hopefully you can connect with some older men at the church who can guide him and give him the direction he probably didn't get as a kid.
Good luck dude.
Excuses excuses! Go to work and pay off your debt! You probably enjoyed what ever it was you bought.
No he is genuinely struggling.
@@cazpk6840 ya due to his own lazyness
@@monoxzide1073 blah blah blah it's easy to blame others for their laziness
John is so full of himself. Lol
George is looking for sympathy not a solution that involves him having to take responsibility for the mess he made.
I don't think he's looking for sympathy I think he's floundering a bit and I think Dr John is correct that he is at a Crossroads and just the right amount of assist right now would head him in the right direction
Become a truck driver. The one job that would change your life right now. People are making $100k fist year.
does the caller sound like he is responsible and disciplined enough to be a trucker and maintain a strict driving schedule?
Caller dancing around why he didnt pay the debt. I hear lots of excuses and laziness.
Itâs such an excuse to blame your upbringing for you getting into debt. Completely deflecting blame and responsibility. I grew up poor with a parent in and out of prison, kicked out at 16⊠I still managed to land on my feet, start a business, graduate school, paid my bills all on my own⊠your life is what you make of it.
Just because you made it doesn't mean that everyone can manage. Get off your high horse.
I went to school with you Raleigh, your family was rich AF growing up...
Sounds like he just needs a hand up...some knowledge and support go a long way.
@@minoozolala
It's not a high horse.
It's perseverance, hard work, sacrifice and self accountability that's how you change your life, change your future.
Your comment is literally telling people it's okay to be a victim in life. To settle for less and be okay with less. That's your message to people.
What business did you start before graduating from school?
Such bad advice. Just don't pay them. They won't do anything to you for such a small debt. They are playing you. Quit answering the phone and quit opening the letters. Do yourself a favor and use that money to pay off your car and keep paying the minimum on your student loans. After you do that start looking for a higher paying job. You can volunteer for the church when you are off work. This poor guy is still discouraged after talking to these guys and he really has a small amount of manageable debt and his car payment is nothing.
I agree with that.
I miss DaveâŠI just feel he knows how to ask the right questions. How much, why and what you are going to do next.
Dave is so rude

Good show from these guys today.
You made 8k a year but have 4k saved for car? That makes no sense đ. His math isn't mathing
Poor young guy. Can feel him breaking up here. Always amazed by this show for throwing people some lifeline whenever they needed it. This is how it should be, being compassionate to others can bring us places.
George for the win "Are you done making excuses".
How did he have down payment To purchase a new used car? He should of used the down payment to pay off Best Buy.
terrible advice. period.
I have a question. What are your thoughts on the cost of renting or home ownership? I have adult children who cannot afford rent. Both work full time. One has a small auto loan debt, payment is less than $300/mo and is close to being paid off; he owes nothing else. The other child has no debt. Neither can afford rent on an efficiency or a one bedroom. Owning a house is out of the question. Aside from roommates, who are often unreliable, do you have any suggestions?
I didn't hear where the caller stated this was a sold/assigned debt. Did I miss it, or did the hosts assume that's the case and this is not an original creditor suing them to collect?
Wish their were shows like this in the UK
You can listen to this show all over the world
man great advice !!
But he said he was being honest with youđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
John, don't interrupt George, dude. Plus, would you be this tough if he were a woman? Probably not, but you should be.
yea I am getting sick and tired of the talking over each other. Especially when Dave is on. When dave talks, everyone including the caller needs to shut up , but i especially dont want interruptions by john or george aka Ramsey mini personalities (say it is not a true label, we all know the pecking order there)
When it comes to investing, we want our money to grow with the highest rates of return, and the lowest risk possible. While there are no shortcuts to getting rich, but there are smart ways to go about it
Wow I'm just shocked you mentioned Mrs Lisa, I thought I'm the only one trading with her.
Talking about been successful. I know I am blessed if not I wouldn't have met someone as spectacular as Mrs Lisa Erkin Fx.
She helped me recovered all I've lost trading by myself.
Yes I'm a living testimony of Lisa Erkin Fx.
I have also experience her great work too, she is good in trading.
Dave tells people not to pay their cards and wait for the debt collector and then settel for pennys on the dollar.
Nachos?? Lol
Nachos and a Horchata with Jorge!đ€Ł

True man..Guy on the right just ate his lunch.

Love this story.... Work hard...pay off debt....the debt could garnish 1/3 of paycheck.. It's better the caller settle the debt for $1500..and keep the courts out of his business.. Dave wouldâve said to pay the car first, other immediate debts then the creditors. He had a call like this years ago with a woman and it made sense. I donât think he should have paid the creditors firstâŠ
it's because he's about to get sued and the creditor will win. Legal stuff always comes first and among legal IRS is top of that list. At least from my understanding
@@faylinameir I thought I heard him say it was a collections company not a subpoena/ summons. I mustâve missed that. If that is the case, yes. But if not, car first.

It could be they sent him something looking like itâs from an attorney to scare him. Thatâs a common ploy.
I cant stand when people take unnecessary shots at video games. What if I say if you go home and Jughead your Bible playing the victim đ€
Heâs lazy. He deserves to be sued. I know folks without a vehicle who walk or ride a bike to work.
Exactly.
I had a coworker who took the bus to and from work, a 4 hour bus ride, every day for two years before she was able to afford her own car. She also had two little babies at home but she still works full time.
Her and her husband take shifts, she works days and he works nights, so there's always one parent at home with the kids.
A 4 hour bus ride every day for two years yet this caller is coming up with so many excuses as to why he can't get a job.
Based on the math, he should have his Best Buy card paid off in less than a year.
I'm so glad i'm good at poker LOL

I heard 80K lol
Great advice.Ido not think this guy will get two extra jobs. Working 49 hours a week is lot for him. I can see him working some extra hours over the 40 hours.
yea, this is not a 50-60hrs a week guy. and sorry, but I want proof of actual, meaningful 40hr/week work at church.
His church lawn care, maintenance work is probably more like an average 1.5hrs of work in an 8hr day with talking and non work the rest of the time.
If smart, he would negotiate to work for $19/hr for only 5-6hrs a day, actually work during that time, and leave early to work another job... but that is not his mindset. sorry, he is NOT a go-getter
Sounds like you get a 75 percent discount not paying
Would their response be the same if the caller was a woman?
Theres a 0% chance he's actually being sued.
What do you mean?
@@infiniteclutchgaming8206 they are probably just threatening. I think it costs more than 1500 to sue.

He can offer them far less.
Shaming people because they fell in debt. Life goes that way sometimes. Some of the comments here are so anti Christian.
What will dave say because I just bought an $800 pokemon card
Caller: âIâm broke, I have nothing, I ate a can of corn for dinner, I donât have gas money to make it to the court date!â
Advise: âWhy not just offer them a $1500 cash offer and just settle the debtâ
He has a car
What gets on my nerves about these calls is that they cut the callers off. Sometimes, maybe let them get out a complete sentence.
Too many ramble and need to be reeled in. Scumbag for not paying his debt anyways
Agreed, and honestly I think they do it to mimic Dave who does it almost ad nauseam. I get it, itâs radio and they have limited time but it is a little bit frustrating.
I really empathize with the caller on this one and I donât think heâs had an opportunity to really vent everything heâs dealing with.
Because they donât have the time. They provide quick free advice. Some callers will take hours to answer a yes or no question.
