This is iconic here in south african and was kept in production till 2008/2009. It has a strong following with farmers, drifters, drag racers...in fact almost everyone loves them here!!
I drove one for every day for 10 years. I sold it with in 8 hrs of advertising it .
What year was it and how much did you sell it for?
Any regrets?
@@yaseengaffoor no regrets I needed a van for work . The 1200 was to small to run my Carpentry work from so it had to go .
@@nevinkuser9892 it was a 1971 model I sold it for $2400 and it was rusty.
Was it white? Because if it is I'm pretty sure it might be this one: czcams.com/video/MipTxE0mfKA/video.html
this is one of the best cars ever, i had one through high-school and let me tell you, i had soo much fun with it, from drags to drifts to chilling with some friends at the beach i cant imagine having anything else, id honestly pay to have another one of these
I saw this video 6 years ago when it was first posted and it awakened my love for old JDM vehicles, and the Datsun Sunny will forever be stuck in my mind. Cars like this are the reason we deal with back-breaking seats, hard-to-find parts, old slow motors and every quirk and gremlin that hangs around. I don't think cars will ever have this personality ever again or invoke the same feeling of adoration from their owners. Thanks for taking this truck out for a spin and sharing the experience with us, Alex.
Why is the last Diesel Video removed?
Foxfighter 84 CZcams didn't take it down. The video got so much hate CT decided to not only make private but delete it completely.
I never even saw it, when was it uploaded?
James Darwin Dude, you can upload Porn here and it won't get removed
- If you put it into the "Education" Section.
that diesel video was retarded.
Heard stories that datsun had a promotion in the 70's in Australia, where if you bought a flat bed truck. The truck was delivered with one of these on the tray for free.
In South Africa, the "sunny" pickup was initially the Datsun 1200 then it got a 1400 engine until the end of production in 2007!! The drag racing guys love them here and they're the perfect workhorse for a small business -also why it was one of the most stolen cars throughout its life up to the present day
Where is the diesel cars video?
Good Villain I assume it was pre-uploaded, so it notified you but the video hasn't actually been released yet.
but i watched the whole thing. when i refreshed the page it was gone
I saw the notification, but when i clicked it it was already deletes
It got so much hate they removed it.
Good Villain it was deliberately deleted because people hated it.
Why did you delete your upload about why diesels are dying?
Rebel Rhymes he's a British fuck that's extremely uneducated. He talks bad about American trucks.
Dodge 318 Cummins He is referring to DEISEL CARS like Volkswagen TDIs, and said that deisel trucks are not going away anytime soon, and it is not an opinion topic. Only facts.
UGU Zach you don't get it do you? He's trying to spread his nazi liberal agenda by trying to talk bad about diesels.
Dodge 318 Cummins he's a damn communist
Arthur The Aardvark Hicks everywhere. you can't escape them!
Y'all were scared of all the cleetus's coming to talk shit on you for that diesel vid so you took it down 😂
TheAirsoftkidd cleetus aint shit
TheAirsoftkidd he doesn't even have a diesel and diesel owners talked shit to him lol
TheAirsoftkidd lol
The Datsun pickup is a legend in South Africa. Very reliable and very easy to maintain.
Always loved these, I see them quite often here in Australia
One of the nicest filmed videos you guys have ever uploaded. The lighting was gorgeous and really set of the B roll. Top marks
My father had a basic four door saloon version of this in the mid-70s. He drove the thing into the ground as a commuter but it took a long time to do that. I have a lot of love for these little things.
My dad used to have this truck when I was kid in the Philippines back in '96 and I remember him babying it. We went back there a few years ago, found the exact car he had back then and restored it to its former glory. We were able to bond over this truck and for that, I'm forever grateful. This baby is such a joy to drive, I just wish I had the money to ship it over to Toronto so we can both see it in our driveway. Strictly summer driving though haha.
I love these things. You can sometimes see them around here. Usually driven by farmers of a certain high age, or young folk who know to appreciate a good classic workman's vehicle.
the interior looks really fresh!
I LOVE THIS CAR! it really just needs some good engine mods, and its perfect
One of my relatives had one in the 1980s. Here in USA we had the larger gasoline engine. What made this truck fun is it's light weight, low price, and easy to repair meant driving hard off road was a blast.
I wasnt aware these were ever sold in the USA. Just the regular sunny (which was the Datsun 1200 here)
I don't know why I fell in love with the shape of this car. Not a single part is exciting but together the whole thing is too damn sexy.
"4 cylinder Inline-4"
Alex Kersten 2k17
Here in Brazil, we have small pickups as well. One memorable was the GM Corsa Pickup (Opel for you Euro guys). It was small, very small, with a good 1.6 litre engine.
I would love to have this antique for my dad. It will help so much for our garden. I got the sedan B110 year 1972 ones. I'll try to keep it as long as I possibly can. Last manual car I've got.😭
a nice looking mini pickup truck , retro and old school looks , nice !
Not even 30 seconds in, and I'm missing my 1974 datsun 620. The feels.
it was great fun
i remember i once have a datsun b310 which have the same 1200cc engine as this ute
I have one of those in exactly the same format (long wheel base) in pristine condition as it was recently renovated., Identical to the one shown but in sky blue color. Wonderful little car, fun to drive, very cheap to run and never left me down since 1980 when bought from new!
I had a Datsun 1200 coupe for my first car, it was awesome.
Always wanted the ute version.
show us the diesel video ffs
These were sold here in South Africa as a Nissan 1400 until 2008, they're legends for their reliability alone, my aunt had one for 20 years, they just don't die...
This is genuinely a spectacular video !
And thats why I love my 1993 Mazda b2200 pickup
Wasnt there a anti Diesel vid 2day?
It got removed. I wonder why.
Irmantas Audėjas too many dislikes?
Apparently it got really bad feedback, and CT decided to take it down to "rescue" their statistics from taking a dive.
Max S. CT was trying to spread there extremely liberal nazi liberal agenda and failed.
Dodge 318 Cummins What the fuck is wrong with you?
That was kinda of relaxing to watch and very humble.
I had a sunny van In the early 90's we used it to go to raves I loved that van.
thanx for the amazing vid keep up the amazing content love u man
my grandpa has one of those (stock)...
I love that analog/manual feeling of these... no powersteering, no abs, no Traction control, and no disk brakes... It's fun even though it's not quick at all..
Knightwolf13 Hellas you just described my first Escort
The essence of a proper sports car is they are so slow that you can have a blast wailing the piss out of it, simply keeping up
With traffic :)
Can’t believe I’m only just seeing this post! IMO the best looking bakkie / pickup out there. Saw one on IG with a R34 swap 😮💨 dream car.
I have an '87 Mitsubishi Mighty Max and it may not be the fastest thing but is sure is fun to drive. Fixed up bench seat doesn't make it too uncomfortable.
I love the mirrors on the front wings.
Car Throttle awesome video!!!!!
I own a 1982 Datsun 720 5 speed diesel that is still going with close to 235,000 miles on it great trucks datsuns are
Love these little pickups. Theyre slow n quirky but u can do a lot to em n get monster power. Sr20 ca18 and any rotary engine can be swapped in. I would love one of these
In South Africa these where sold until about 2005 as the Nissan Champ and are still a common site on the roads and drag strips. There are a bunch of them with Toyota 4AGE and 4AGE turbo convertions as well .
all mini trucks are sublime
I actually like the pick up. It's cool looking.
Datsun 1200 UTE... I love this pickup
This video describes how i feel when driving my moms 3rd gen toyota starlet. (minus the backpain the seats are actually pretty comfy)
my grand mother had one of these in the saloon model from 87. extremely reliable extremely uncomfortable little car. still parked up in my uncles yard. sadly my grandmother has since passed on and the car has seen better days. we kept the car in her memory.
Reminds me in my first-gen VW Caddy. Same upright seating position, sound was nice due to the sidepipe ...and the (illegally installed) GTI engine.
Where I'm from, its called a Nissan 1400...my uncle used to have one, its very plucky, tough nd reliable....
The 1400 was like a evoltion of this
So Cool!! need more small pickups !
oh look-a new Petrolicious video.
2 videos in 1 day.....this is new
The Diesel-Video was taken down (most likely for poor feedback), so this is kind of a replacement.
Haha, they made these in South Africa up to the early 00s. I had one for years, it is truly horrible to drive but it does look cute. I am so glad I never crashed! South African ones have a raised roof line so taller farmers of european decent to fit.
That's a beautiful truck
Fun fact:
This is caled the Nissan Bakkie in my country it was available new until 2008!!
they were produced until 2008 in south africa with a 1400 engine and a 5 speed gearbox and they are everywhere
i have a turbo 1982 toyota pickup. its got 253 hp and 238 torque. that is a fun truck.
planning on building one of these.
tuff aussie version, n/a ls1, twin 3” pipes, tubbed, 5 speed manual.
In South Africa we gone the exactly the same pickup we called the Nissan 1400 champ and it stayed in production here till 2007 and I happen the be the own of one last ones to leave the factory.
Honestly love these damn things
As a RAM Fan I approve of the description
2 car throttle vids in one day. how Amazing
Bike Life *one video, the diesel one was deleted
Last time I was this early Car Throttle made hate video about diesels.
Simple stuff I love it
cant wait for your celica video !!!!!
In Costa Rica they have a really big comunity of those little cars, they call it "Datsun mil docientos" that means "Datsun 1200". Usually they put a N/A Sr20 from a 200sx or just leave it stock. Those little things are fast as hell whit that motor.
I have a 1200 coupe sitting in my garage here in Australia, ready for resto.
Next to it I have a n/a SR20 motor ready for it
I love tray vehicles, like the pickup SUVs such as the ford F-259 and the pickup cars like the modern Holden ute
In South Africa it was even sold until 2008 as the "Bakkie".
And it was replaced with a Dacia based pickup. Of course it´s more "modern" but this one is way cooler.
that damn thing is beautiful. I wish we got them in the states
hey Car throttle, didn't you upload and delete a diesel related video an hour ago , and when are you going to upload it again
That is really really a cool car! Damn i want one!
my summer pickup
All these Datsun/Nissan pick-ups run 10sec in South Africa!! Every engine you can imagine finds its home under the bonnet!
Looks good, but if it struggles that much with just you in the truck then How are you supposed to haul or tow anything?
any 70's Japanese mini truck is a good. I have a 73 Toyota hilux that I'm all about.
I love that car so much !
my buddy has one of these with a rx7 motor in it. its fun.
it's a car with character indeed
Very cute little car.
I loved my one, I miss it so much. My one could at least take on GTI's, then again 20v in a pickup that weighs nothing.
you guys need to upload more
They have been available over here is South Africa since the seventies, sold as Datsun and Nissan 1400, Nissan Champ.
You can pick them up for the equivalent of $1000 or less.
Oh yeah, how is the steering rack play on that one, You can normally drive like an 80 movie driver and the bakkie (that is what we call small trucks) will just keep going wherever it was headed.
danke für den 2. upload
here in Greece we still have some of those and personally I love these things old school jdm and simple as fck
And I have 2 of em.. SO good!
I remember these from when I was a kid...both the ute (pickup) and the sedan. They were slow from the factory, but being so light, they could be tweaked to get up and go pretty well (for the time - I'm still talking about the mid '70s here.) Many were turned into poor man's rally machines - for those who couldn't afford the Datsun 510 - and they didn't do badly at all. And btw, it does have traction control - by never having enough power to break traction. That's how it controls your traction. LOL
PS: In Australia, it was just called the Datsun 1200 - we didn't get the "Sunny" nameplate on these models (that I recall, anyway - it's been a while.) Same with the Datsun 510 - to us, it was simply a Datsun 1600. :-)
Dunno about the Navara - I moved to the US in '93 - but yes, it was all Datsun back then.
that truck is awesome
beautiful car, were i can find the parts parts? please.
What a nice car!
datsun 1200 ute in Australia we put fj20 or ca18det and sr20
Where's the other video you guys uplouded? The video called "The Diesels must die"
where do you do the test driving ? amasing scenery
in South Africa they were sold untill 2008! with the same Aseries engine but a 1400. sold as a Nissan Champ.
Add some side drafts pr webers to that tiny engine to give it a little sting.
Why did you delete the diesel cars video?
I got the notification for the end of diesel video. Why you delete it?
"One of the coolest pickup trucks you'll ever see"
Ford raptor, studebaker champ, Subaru brat, Dodge Ram little red express are all really cool as well
GMT400 454 SS also this thing isn't a pickup, it's a small ute at best
what happened to the diesel video? I was going to watch it now but its not here any more
