And he didn’t randomly choose girls, he picked tall ones to help hide him, and placed the most attractive ones in front to distract the authorities. Pure genius.

It’s been a while since I read it but I think he even pays them every month with fake Pan Am checks that he then cashes for them. They end up having a nice holiday and then going back home.

Realistically people would also notice the one man in a completely different outfit next to all of them, with him standing out even more. However since it’s a movie I guess everyone just blinds themself to only seeing the good side of things.
