The fact that this fight is not only many times longer, but also more exciting than the final Flash/Thawn showdown is a crying shame. With all the build up to the final conflict, Negative Thawn should have been an epic battle that pushed both characters to their absolute limits. The end could have been the same, with Barry choosing not to keep fighting, but the fight leading up to that point was over far too quickly.

Checkout!!! 1:24. It's brilliant, just brilliant. I didn't seem to notice this detail when I watched this episode the first time but man this was really well done. You can clearly see the intensity of the speed at which the Rival is running, the animation and motion blur is spot on. That little moment Barry outsmarts the Rival by taking another route to get to him quicker in order to knock him over is just amazing. It's little things like these that make watching speedsters so interesting, not the recent, say some cherry picked lines, run around in a circle, throw a lightning bolt at the enemy routine.
The Flash every year: Fastest Man Alive, Slow motion fight scenes. A few years ago I saw an actual Flash fight scene, fan made, it included nothing but fast motion it was great.
Rival was honestly a great villain. He was terrifying at times, the VFX made him look good, and he was an actual challenge for Flash. Just three little issues. His death is way too soon in both timelines, yes they had to make time for Savitar, but they should have stayed in Flashpoint longer and only teased Savitar for s4 (Thinker could've been s5). Admittedly a bit picky, but Rival's costume, while both different and epic, has a very strange nose piece that I can't unsee. And lastly and greatly, his motivation and goal is so childish. Instead of attempting to prove he's the fastest, especially by wrecking the city, he should do something like proving he's a better hero than the Flash (Kid or not). There could even be this great moment where criminals try to partner with Rival and we could see what he truly values by who he chooses to trust. Maybe he'll go far enough to work with one villain only to then refuse another either based on their history or intention. To go a bit further, maybe his maybe criminal allies suggest discrediting the Flash by creating a trap and Rival completely disagrees stating that should the Flash character fail it will be only him to blame. With Rival this way, we get a rival speedster who is not on our side yet is not evil. I guess Zoom & Savitar both did something vaguely similar, but they actually were just straight up evil.
To further this idea a little, the flashpoint season could end with Barry begging the caged (or at that point uncaged) Eobard to reset the timeline and while that happens (much like the comic its based on), the city is going to be destroyed by some cataclysmic event - which is even better if the cause has nothing to do with either Flash or Rival; in the moments of Flash & Eobard leaving back to the past, Rival actually saves the city. This could open up doubt for Barry down the line that while his memories were being erased, his instinct was to grip on to his life harder and harder, even to the point of begging his mother's would be killer and his only hope. But while he grips on to his sense of self, his rival does become the city's hero in absence of the Flash - only for the whole timeline to be washed away. So when Savitar awakens Dr. Clariss, he is mad about his heroics being stolen from him. I know this is starting to sound like Eobard's backstory and maybe that's a good thing. It could make Barry seriously question if his villain is right about him or not. You know, what we didn't get in the show where Eobard was clearly, diabolically and cartoonishly evil. Just a thought.
His death made no sense. Savitar used Wally to open the speed force when he had a perfectly good other speedster to do it for him that was on his side but instead decides to murder him lol
The rival was such an underrated villain, I really loved his attitude, him and alchemy should've been a duo till the mid-season finale then we should've gotten savitar, would've had way less story complaints with that.

And people said season 3 is where the show’s downfall began.💀 I get that season 3’s writing is considered all over the place and is downright confusing with Savitar, but I think for the most part when it came to everything else they were going really strong. This fight is one of those great things about it and season 8 wish they could pull this off again. Season 4 is actually what started killing the show for me because when they made the jump from the awesome speedster villians to literally Devoe, not only did Devoe move slower, but it felt like the whole show started moving slower, and it just bored the heck out of me.

Barry STILL needing help from a team flash when he should've been mostly on his own post s2 but that's also how these shows are designed smh. And that's just some of the issues. Controversial actor aside, but I hope The Flash (2023) has some fight scenes on par with the early seasons of The Flash cause those were the best aspects of the show. I'm honestly impressed that they were able to pull it off on a television budget, after seeing the trailer weeks ago I'm honestly hyped to see more Flash action scenes (especially Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck reprising as Batman). Whoever is working on the visual effects for The Flash (2023), I say best of luck to everyone during post-production.

I think if they would want to shoot a scene with normal speed between speedsters I think a best way to do it is to shoot an object where it's Indicating that time is slowed. So that there wouldn't be any redundant stunts like fake running or literally slowing down to fight
Speedster fights never had decent CGI, honestly. The way they implemented it is the way they masked it. I think even today with this budget they could still make a fight look just as cool as this, except they can't. They forgot what makes a speedster fight a speedster fight, and just made them all NOT use speed. They forgot what make a speedster bad, a villain, a menace or whatever.
The BEST case for showing what a Speedster can do, I felt, was when Zoom "showed off" his speed early in S2 by attacking the police station. Like.... there's no way anyone other than a speedster could possibly fight something like that, and really raised the stakes.
If they just sped up this fight more speedsters should fight more like this where they are quickly exchanging punches. I always hated speedster fights in the flash

Rival is heavily underrated. He might be just another psycho villain, but he gave some good fights against Flash. Their fight was genuinely awesome.

Controversial actor aside, but I hope The Flash (2023) has some fight scenes on par with the early seasons of The Flash cause those were the best aspects of the show.
I'm honestly impressed that they were able to pull it off on a television budget, after seeing the trailer weeks ago I'm honestly hyped to see more Flash action scenes (especially Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck reprising as Batman).
Whoever is working on the visual effects for The Flash (2023), I say best of luck to everyone during post-production.
Sorry to say there are literally no Speedster vs Speedster fights…

I just noticed the parallel tbh from this scene and the final battle with Savitar. Barry walking away, Savitar chasing after him, and Iris shoots.

@@Velocity_YT TBF they did Godspeed fucking DIRTY in the show. Much more of an impact in the comics. Used his speed for extreme vigilantism, can drain speedsters of their speed and possibly kill them in doing so, and had a friendship with Barry before he turned bad. But nope, just got clones... because.

if you watched the episode you'd know Barry is heavily nerfed here speed/mind wise because of Flashpoint, they literally show him stumbling from the timeline shifts during the fight.

I think if they would want to shoot a scene with normal speed between speedsters I think a best way to do it is to shoot an object where it's Indicating that time is slowed. So that there wouldn't be any redundant stunts like fake running or literally slowing down to fight

Speedster fights never had decent CGI, honestly. The way they implemented it is the way they masked it. I think even today with this budget they could still make a fight look just as cool as this, except they can't. They forgot what makes a speedster fight a speedster fight, and just made them all NOT use speed. They forgot what make a speedster bad, a villain, a menace or whatever.
The BEST case for showing what a Speedster can do, I felt, was when Zoom "showed off" his speed early in S2 by attacking the police station. Like.... there's no way anyone other than a speedster could possibly fight something like that, and really raised the stakes.
