I just want to thank you for the way you handled the Christian questions, I followed another Jewish CZcamsr and left when she said some very hurtful things towards Christian and our beliefs, even though she preached acceptance and understanding. I discovered your channel this past weekend. I am a Christian and have been interested in learning about Jewish life since I was a child (I’m now in the grandparent stage of life). The All-of-a-Kind Family was a favorite series in my childhood. I would love the hear the story of how you converted and what led you to do so. We also homeschooled. I tell people that the only reason we quit is because we ran out of kids and the ones we had insisted on growing up. 🤣
It hurts my heart to hear people making ugly comments. Rest assured anyone who does that is way more miserable than we can imagine. I pity those people. You keep being you because your amazing! Your Christian brothers and sisters support you 💯. I found your channel when I started learning about Orthodox Judaism and I’m so happy I did. I wish you all the success on your channel

I completely agree we can delegate cleaning or even groceries being delivered but teaching our kids is sacred and such a blessing❤.

About failing - and falling: I used to tell my students to think of exactly how tall they were. We always want to move forward in life by making one graceful leap after another, but the fact is that almost no one can leap as far their own height. But if you fall on your face, you can get that far every time! Just keep getting up, and keep falling in the right direction, and you’ll get there.

I am a 69-year-old social worker & teacher. I was raised Jewish in a very small town in NC. I am happy to report that four years ago when I was going through breast cancer (I am cancer-free now), I found a fabulous shul (Reconstructionist), and am joyously re-engaging with my Judaism. I am so incredibly blessed to have my synagogue buddies. We pray together at Minyan, we study Talmud, we make music (I am a vocalist), and we support each other --we totally have each other’s backs. Not to mention our brilliant, exquisite, heartfelt Rabbi.

Chana, I wish more of the frum community felt the same about outsourcing our kids education. It's more than that really, it's outsourcing being an Imma. I don't care if the babysitter/daycare is another religious woman, you are their Imma and that cannot ever be outsourced! Great for you! I am a Unitarian Universalist, and our congregation has Seder Dinner every passover. We.have a good mix people raised Jewish, and many gentiles. If anyone is interested in this wonderful dinner, you might want to see if you have a local congregation and if they celebrate!

They are all series, so these are the first books in the series. The Green Ember by S. D. Smith, All of a Kind Family by Sydney Taylor, Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling (book one would be fine for a 6 year old, but even with my ten year old, we don't read past book 4), The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall, The Wild Robot by Peter Brown (just heard this one will be a movie coming to theaters in September!, has short chapters and lots of pictures, so a great early chapter book for a 6 year old), Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
I love coming here and learning about your Jewish life. I just got done rewatching your convert videos again I lost count of how many times I've seen them. I'm not planning on converting I learn something new every time I watch. I have friends that converted so I'm always interested in seeing those videos on CZcams.

I wanted to share with you that though I was uncomfortable with it, I recently started using a Continuous Blood Glucose Monitor. I originally told my doctor no but reconsidered, in part thinking about your son and how brave and strong he is about it all. I'm happy I changed my mind. It's working out well so far. 👍

Never ever should anyone post negative comments to you. I am a Christian and I am so blessed by all I have learned about JUDISM from you. There are so many Christian’s who were never taught Christianity, but are against Jews who they also know nothing about. I have always believes that Jewish people were Gods chosen people. How could anyone who has been taught that be against judism. Thank you for all of your posts.

I watched a little video that really resonated with me. It stated if you find yourself in an environment that disallows you to be yourself fully, then leave. If you cannot be who you are and must go against what you believe, you do not belong there. God will guide your footsteps to where you will be loved and supported completely. That was comforting to me. 🕯️

I do applaud and admire your statement as Jews we not choose to be victims. No group anywhere at anytime has suffered more and yet as a group the Jews have overcome it all. This attitude is almost counterculture in today’s world which almost encourages choosing to be a victim.

I love your answer about homeschool becoming "too much." I agree completely! Too much in what way? I would make every sacrifice to keep this lifestyle. The only thing that I can imagine making us stop homeschool is if my husband or I died, and the other parent had a debilitating illness or injury. OR if my kids were no longer thriving. But 12 years in and they are better than ever!
Exactly!!! And we have homeschooled through some pretty big extreme situations and been ok. We make it work. It’s a priority ❤️

Tribe affiliation definitely still exists, but only in a limited manner.
If you are Kohen or Levi that makes a difference in terms of being called up to the Torah, also in regards to a first born son for Pidyon HaBen - or being exempt from that. Everyone who is not a Kohen or Levi is called Yisrael - which is all the other tribes, since we no longer know that affiliation

Tribe affiliation only really matters for Levim and Cohanim in terms of their roles in various religious services/ Cohanim have certain mitzvos (ie not going near a cemetery, who they can marry, etc.)

Thank you for your information, Chana. I love love love Little House it was my fav as a kid. My husband and I have discussed going to Israel on a volunteer basis. Apparently my husband knows of a charity and you pay your flight and then you volunteer helping the IDF. They look after your food and lodging. He is also spending his birthday going to a large march in support of Israel.
