തകഴി ശിവശങ്കരപ്പിള്ളയുടെ ചെമ്മീൻ എന്ന നോവലിനെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കി, 1965-ൽ രാമു കാര്യാട്ട് സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത മലയാളചലച്ചിത്രമാണ് ചെമ്മീൻ. എസ്.എൽ. പുരം സദാനന്ദനാണ് തകഴിയുടെ വിഖ്യാത നോവലിനെ ആസ്പദമാക്കി ഈ ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ തിരക്കഥ രചിച്ചത്. മധു, സത്യൻ, കൊട്ടാരക്കര ശ്രീധരൻ നായർ, ഷീല, എസ്.പി. പിള്ള, അടൂർ ഭവാനി, ഫിലോമിന എന്നിവരാണ് പ്രധാനവേഷങ്ങളിൽ അഭ്രപാളിയിൽ അണിനിരന്നത്.
1965-ലെ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച ചലച്ചിത്രത്തിനുള്ള രാഷ്ട്രപതിയുടെ സുവർണ്ണ കമലം ഈ സിനിമയ്ക്ക് ലഭിച്ചു[1]. ഒരു ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യൻ സിനിമയ്ക്ക് ആദ്യമായിട്ടാണ് ഈ അംഗീകാരം ലഭിച്ചത്. സാങ്കേതികപരമായും ഈ ചിത്രം മികച്ച് നിന്നു. ഈസ്റ്റ്മാൻ കളറിൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ആദ്യ മലയാളചലച്ചിത്രങ്ങളിലൊന്നായിരുന്നു ചെമ്മീൻ.
പി. എൻ. സുന്ദരം സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത പാവമണി നിർമിച്ച ഒരു മലയാളചലച്ചിത്രമാണ് അയോദ്ധ്യ. പ്രേം നസീർ, അടൂർ ഭാസി, ശങ്കരാടി, ശ്രീലത നമ്പൂതിരി എന്നിവർ പ്രധാന വേഷങ്ങളിൽ അഭിനയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ജി ദേവരാജൻ സംഗീതസംവിധാനം നിർവഹിച്ചു തെലുങ്ക് സിനിമ സംസാരം റീമേക്ക് ആയിരുന്നു ഇത്

Why climax is like this.
The story writer is a sadist. Atleast the director could avoid unnecessary 2 death in the last.
If a women decides to live with whom she likes entire society collapse.
If man leave a women to be with another women then justice delivered. That is the point here of a double standard hypocrite society.
Sheela by her mind cant seperate from her lover. It is right she live with her lover and make her husband understand n divorce n go.
Stories written by men always put a wrong message if a women loves her lover then big problem. She should be in the hell of chain of marrige(Slavery ) but man can do anything, that is unquestionable and whitewashed by this society.
