How the hell these guy's ain't number one with a bullet on the charts is WAY beyond me. I guess this track says it all.
...this is the BBS i know n love...raw, aggressive, and lyrically spot on...this band is the truth...i swear he's singing my life...if this is a music biz song (which i think it is), it's deadly accurate...

I love BBS, I purchased (legally) their gear and DVDs(well UGA) and linked up about 100 tubes online. Great stuff! But this one did leave me with a song in my head, I am not sure if it is the vocalization levels and/or the beat - but I heard it all before as the Beatles Day Tripper ('got a good reason I'm taking the easy way out now' - no pun intended but it does sound like it if I drop some run on licks and overlays) But come on, I know these guys Country Rock, don't lose that Country swag, and besides the best songs will be some of the deeper tracks so let the records keep spinning Brothers. If I could be in one band it was and still would be Blackberry Smoke! Keep true my friends.

Just finish hearing "Holding all the Roses",dammed good,bit more polisht than Wipporwill,but still got the rock songs,the laidback songs and those good country songs...What more can you ask for..?

What I don,t understand is why no one wants to really give credit where it,s do,these guys are always on the road,there doing there music because they believe in what they do,how many other bands can say the same!

Like it! Hear some Stones influence in there. For everyone who is complaining that it has an 80's sound- nothing wrong with that if it's good and it is. This band is not limited by labels, styles, or eras as they have proved with there other albums. BTW, Brendan O'Brien is a great producer. Also a few have questioned why they only took a week to track this record- They write their songs on the road. These tracks have a couple years on them and were ready to cut before O'Brien even entered the picture. They have been playing songs like "Payback's A Bitch" live on the road for going on two years. It's just a different approach. Can't wait for the album!

Gnasher,probably higher educated than you,also I have owned several business,s,my point is that these guys are doing what they believe in,which is playing there own music,can you do the same,and I will not go down to your level,I believe in these guys and there music,and it is refreshing to be able to listen to a song that has meaning!

I love Smoke and ill be at the show when they come to Pa and NY. Straight up- I don't dig what I've heard of this album as much as the last. Big big fan but the vibe is different and I like the last vibe better. I've never loved all of any groups songs so it ain't no big deal to me- and what I Love of Smoke I really love- but of what ive heard this ain't it- maybe it is for another fan...

I am glad they are trying different sounds also and they are in their prime right on. I do not think they sound like Kiss either..That was a weird comment..
Im hearing lots of bands in this one..black crowes..bryan adams..yes even KISS and ciderella counting crows ..lots but still a nice tune by mr smoke ..ill dl the album nice easy to listen to southern rock ..nice one!
I started listening to this band not too long ago. I purchased and LOVE the live double disc/DVD. It seems like the more I get into them, the more the live stuff is soooo much better. This sounds WAY too over produced IMO. Drums are weak, guitar tones are generic sounding. Meh. I'll wait for the next live CD.

Southern Ground is not what it used to be. The ZBB is the only artist currently on the label.
It's pop, with some guitars. It's definitely more radio friendly. It sounds like BBS went to rehab.
The fatal flaw in this awesome album is not having Brendan O'Brien mix it. Regardless of whether it was a schedule or $$ thing, it is unfortunate. Still great stuff.
it's more kinda old fashioned rock'n'roll, which is not bad, but from this song an the other one i've listened seems that they lost a bit of their southern taste in their sound and riffs... actually I didn't like much their collaboration with Brendan O'Brien... hope to hear some more of their original sound on the rest of the album

I started listening to them before there last album. I really like Little Piece of Dixie and The Whippoorwill. This sounds a bit more commercial and hopefully the entire album is not like this. Maybe it's just one sound for the radio. Fingers crossed.
They just changed the style. Is a little bit diferent, but is pretty good. And I think that will "explode" on the radios, the rhythm of that sound is nice.
Is it just me or does this tune have a little Tom Petty feel to it?
production is pretty lousy compared to whipporwill. I would prefer more natural sounding vocals.
Love these guys...but I gotta say, this album is decidedly not their best effort. A couple of good songs on it...but if you are new to BBS, don't let this be your first album.
Dsnt sound as raw as before. Like most people are saying its way over produced.
Man the album overall is good.....Whippoorwill was held back even though the songs were great ,the guitars were just too far in the back ground.. Holding All The Roses has opened up another door..
Not impressed with this song. Sounds like rehashed KISS.
Payback's a Bitch is better in my humble opinion.
