Excellent! Great explanation of all things dies ... thanks for sharing! 💕
Thanks a bunch!
Thank you so much for making this video. I really wish I had something like this to teach me back when I first learned about the world of die cutting. Both present & future crafters will surely appreciate it! You're the best!😄💕
♡Michelle T.
thank you so much!
Thanks so much for explaining this all for us... I am a lefty so fussy cutting is a struggle.
You are so welcome!
Thank you for helping us viewers understand more about Cutting dies!
You bet! Thanks for watching :)
Thanks for explaining everything so well. I am fairly new to die cutting and had no idea what it was until a year ago. This video will help so many people, it’s educational, quick to the point and importantly very accurate and doesn’t misinform like the Gemini situation you mentioned. Much appreciated Lolly 👍✌️🙏❤️
many thanks!
Oh my gosh! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH ❤ You have explained everything perfectly! Literally answered all of my questions. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks to the asker of this NOT stupid question And for doing this video. I had been gifted a Texture Boutique made by Sizzx. I had started wishing I had the next model up so I could do die cutting. After watching your video I was encouraged to try die cutting using my embossing machine...........and it worked! ( i am sure you already guessed that would be) so now i am even more stoked that i can do both embossing and die cutting if i so desired. Dabbling with polymer clay for the past few years but finding many tools, etc overlap and now i am onto paper crafting. Lots of fun ahead for me - a whole new exploration. Your explanation that die cutting needs just pressure was just so far helpful. Prior I had only watched videos that showed using die cutters but no explanation how they worked. Again......thanks so much for sharing in a clear and totally understandable manner......and also the difference between Circuits and the like - it's all clear in my mind now!
Thanks so much for commenting & leaving feedback. I love looking at polymer clay creations!
Thank you! For explaining everything….you made it is easy for me to as a beginner just starting to experience Die Cutting. 😊
Thank you!
Thanks for the video! I already knew my Cricut machine was not the same as a die cutting machine, I just didn’t know where to begin with it. Now I do!
Thank you :)
YES... GREAT VIDEO. THX SO MUCH.
Glad it was helpful!
I see a need for both! I have a Cricut but having one of these on hand could be a life saver!! I could see using this to cut a bunch of elements for a card or if I think something is to intricate to run thru my maker. Thank you for such a GREAT video I'm definitely getting one of these. ❤❤
Awesome! thank you for watching :)
You answered the questions I wanted to ask about die cutting . Thank you so much for this great tutorial. Well done .
Thank you very much for the encouragement
Great video! Exactly what I needed❣️
Glad it was helpful!

Very good advice. I just bought a second hand Big Shot with some extras. Delighted with it.

love for you to post the link for the 3d pumpkin you show here.
Here's the blog post on how I made it: www.tonic-studios.co.uk/blogs/import-blog-tonic/papercraft-pumpkin ; AND, I used this die set: Tonic Studios USA: shrsl.com/3o04q Tonic Studios UK: shrsl.com/3o04s
What a great video ! While I know the difference and prefer die cutting, my friends need to see this since it’s all the same to them! Thank you.
Feel free to share the video with them!
Very helpful! Thank you so much!

Thanks for subbing! Glad to have you along!
Thank you this was a great video thank you for being so honest
You are so welcome!
This was good info. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Thank you very very much.
Just a quick note, I have a (very old, second hand) Cricket dye cutting machine, hand cranked. As you noted in your video, Cricket is not only an electrical cutting machine😊
And I am still learning.
Cricut doesn't make die cutting machines any more, so speaking in generic terms, when we say "Cricut," we're referring to what they sell now. I have heard wonderful things about the old Cricut Cuttlebug. People loved it!
Very interesting this has helped me thank you
Glad to hear it!
Thank You, not a silly question as I too wanted to know...what is dye cutting?
Great explanation and demo. 😊❤
You’re welcome 😊
Thanks very much for the information. Where can I go to get a specific die to be made?
I mean to be customized?
I have not custom made my own dies.
Thank you
You're welcome
love that phone shaker, how cute :)
Thanks! Here's the video: czcams.com/video/ZJe9MlLcP80/video.html
@@LollyPalooza O wow, how sweet. I think you want to get me into die-cutting, lol. It's all good 😊 it looks 3d fun!
Thank you so much mam❤
Most welcome 😊
Thank you for the clear explanation of the difference between the two kinds of machines. I'm brand new at this, and it can be so confusing. What kind of paper do you use for die cutting? Is it scrapbooking paper, or any kind of card stock? Thanks again!😊
Usually "scrapbooking paper" refers to card stock anyway -- it's just patterned. So yes, I use all card stock, both pain and patterned. You can use more lightweight paper (text weight/ printer paper), but it doesn't do as well trying to remove the paper from the die.
Hi do you need to use the plates? Do most die cutting machines come with the plate? If not what can I use instead?
You have to have cutting plates. They are sort of like cutting boards in the kitchen. Every die cutting machine comes with a set.
Ok. Thanks for the share. I just purchase a small embossing machine yesterday ( where have it been all my life, lol). So a cutting die machine is totally different?
The die cutting machines I use all emboss as well. What is the embossing machine you got?
@@LollyPalooza I got the smallest of the Sizzix, Texture Boutique.
@@chi7126 It looks like that is embossing only?
@@LollyPalooza aw I was hoping for a two in one, since now, being introduced to die-cutting, lol. Well that's ok, it just mean spending abit more time with the ol' embosser :). I'm enjoying the paper designs but watch out die-cutter your next on my craft list :).
Where did you get the little die cut machine from? I’d love to buy a small one as I’m a newbie, I want to make junk journals so small dies would be perfect for me. What machine would you recommend for smaller dies? Thank you 🙏
It's a good one. Most small ones don't have the fold-down platform. I notice that right now it's only on their website www.dressmycraft.com/dmct4658, making it more difficult to obtain.
@@LollyPalooza
Thank you!
Any suggestions for someone just starting out who doesn’t have dies readily on hand. It seems like it would be more economical for those that don’t already have a treasure trove of die cuts
You will usually find what style of designs you like by watching tutorials, and then you can focus on maybe getting the dies to make the projects you like.
Can you do custom die cut stickers just like a cricut but manually of course in this case ?
sort of. You have to have the die set of the shape you want, and you'll have to design your stamp to fit within that die shape. Then the die will cut clear through all layers -- it won't just "kiss cut" the top layer only.
@@LollyPaloozaanother question. Can I cut chipboard 2mm on a any manual die cutting machine using a steel rule die ? These leads me to the other question, can I use a steel rule die on any manual die cutting machine ?
Thanks for replying :)
@@nu3salud Some manual cutting machines have a limited range of depth you can insert into the machine. Spellbinders and Sizzix have machines that can definitely cut with steel rule dies. As for chipboard, you can't use regular dies on chipboard.
is there a way to create the pressure without the machine?
Great question! For smaller or less intricate dies, you can achieve this with a rolling pin. However, it's not as easy as it would seem, and larger dies are harder to do, and intricate dies (think lace patterns) are super hard to do. Here's an example I found on CZcams for you: czcams.com/video/1ot-NdUQnE0/video.html
❤️
thanks
You're hands are beautiful.
Thank you so much! :)
Your computer has to be compatible with cricut
Which is another plus for die cutting instead of using a Cricut :)
Not a stupid question because I found this video because I didn’t know what it meant lol
Awesome! Glad to help
