Today we are going to have a look at some entry level models from the Collection. They were made to a price and produced by the millions, they kept the lights on at Märklin’s and probably started many a hobby over the years.

When we moved to Switzerland, I plugged my Lionel into an outlet with an adapter and watched my transformer fill the room with smoke. After hiding my deed, I told my father that the US train wouldn't work. He looked at it after he plugged it into a 240/120 converter, and yes, it sputtered and spit. So for Christmas that year Santa bought me a 3029 starter set. I have everything still except the box. 54 years later, the hobby continues! Thanks for the video!

Purchased an used old 2920 set probably from the 70s to add to my old marklin set from my childhood, to my surprise it worked perfectly straight out of the packing! Looking forward to add more to my beginner collection.

So simple, so reliable ! All these models are worth their value ! Long ago, I have begun my Märklin dream with a starter set including a 3029 and two flat freight cars such a pleasure !

Running these various 3-axle models on your layout somehow gives them a far greater appeal. About a third of my collection (ninety locomotives) is comprised of these electric, Diesel, and steam three-axle loks, and I've now a better appreciation for these oft discounted (by value and desirability) models. Shockingly true is that none of Baureihe 89.0 has ever been in the active inventory of the Deutsche Bundesbahn! More for the Polish or Reichsbahn stock which do not possess the DB "cookie"

Brilliant channel; absolutely enthralled with nearly every video, and I do want to point out the excellent production values you put a lot of effort into.
Just the transitions, catalogue excerpts, prototype and model photos etc, ends up a genuinely very enjoyable viewing experience so thank you for all your hard work and effort.
Thing about the marklin start sets is marklin retained what they were extremely good at, and that was retaining the engineering quality. Yes there were design compromises but unlike the Hornby Dublo 3 rail of my youth and even worse the absolute mess that Lionel ended up doing marklin really did the epitome of a start set: the continuation of quality meant young Helmut felt comfortable retaining his interest

I've got two 3104:s and three 3029:s from garage sales. One 3029 has the reverse lever on one side, you have to manually change directions. It works pretty good, but it needs some service. Being a Swede, I would want the TGOJ 3078. But since I don't have a layout, I guess it's just a thought.

People in countries with no access to marklin bought Piko Junior. Which is why there are so many well taken care of Piko Junior sets, still in their box popping up on ebay.

Marklin has never been a cheap brand lol in 1995 my old friend purchased the 3416 and its was 250 DM

ive got a couple of 3029's One of them came in a PRIMEX Train set with two 4 wheel metal coaches. I also have one in Green livery which has a delta/digital decoder in it. ive also got a 3087( I cant find its correct serial numbe)r with a Delta/Digital decoder in it

I have a Märklin HO 3095 engine that will not reverse. Any tips on fixing this issue?

Could be several things, I'd check the rocker contact on the reverser chenges correctly, and that the wires from the reverser to the motor windings are intact.
