Checkers is actually pretty complicated. At a high level the moves that they find are utterly insane. I just find it a bit boring perhaps but it definitely isn't a simple game ripe for analogies related to being stupid.

I'd like to apologize for my chess skills not being at the level they should be. I feel I need to explain myself a bit here. It all happened after I'd spent 10 million seconds trying to figure out if I should capture the pawn on f5 with my pawn on g5 which of course was a stupid move but I thought it was the best move nonetheless. So I once again apologize for my lack of proper chess skills. Hopefully Magnum Charcoal won't see this comment.

I was thinking of learning chess but after watching this game I’m going back to racing slot cars in my basement
I used to always take with the g pawn, but only ten minutes after becoming a subscriber. I had learned, when to make horse noises, when to whisper in German, sing in Italian etc. my grandmaster certification arrived by courier that afternoon and I no longer make those mistakes. Thanks James.

I haven't actually played a game in maybe 10 years, I just love competition and I love watching the virtuosos of our time play beautiful games. And yeah I still probably would've taken with the E pawn so shame on you if you got that wrong.
Magnus was trolling Hans with this performance. Inflating the cheater's ego belief even further for their upcoming clash. The higher you climb, the harder your fall.
More epic to me is draw between Jose Martinez and Carlsen in early TT 13/8. Carlsen had over 1 min on the clock and winning position. Jose had 10 seconds and managed to draw that game and win TT on tie breaks. What a player!

Either through opening prep is short answer or by playing what’s in front of you and generally speaking sticking it somewhere active!

@1:26 James says "I like playing h3". I assume Epic plans to castle long and will place the dark square bishop on e3. Otherwise, it's a completely wasted move if you plan to castle short.

Why was that important at this early point in the game ?

that shaky video crap almost gave me a seizure! That sh!t should never happen all of a sudden in a video without SOME kind of warning at the front so that people who hate strobe lights and fast flashing lights and such can know to not watch it. I was really liking the vid till then. You could have left all that shaking and flashing OUT and just did the commentary as if it was in-game or at least just put some pic/video in for comedy but the flashing? That has to go, man.
