In simpler terms, T is tumour size, that is the size of tumour at its primary site- the place where it first occured.
N is nodal involvement - for a non medico - lymphatic system is where any foreign particles and components bigger than what capillaries could let pass get collected and passed through, this system has sentinels at every collecting segment - known as lymph nodes, tumour cells get clogged here and multiply - which is lymph node involvement - depending on the number and sides of nodes involved, staging is done.
M is metastasis - spread of tumour/cancer to distant places from the original site. The spread can be thro blood or lymph.
