- Indigenous groups from across the country came together for a once-in-a-generation celebration after the birth of a rare white American buffalo in Yellowstone National Park. The sacred symbol of the Sioux Nation fulfills an ancient prophecy. NBC’s Steve Patterson reports for TODAY.

It will be killed, that's why the news announces it to the world. EVERY TIME they let everyone know, the babies are killed. Last time it was twin babies, both shot.

@@DS-lk3txYes. Every time I see primitive tribal cultures from ANY country, they have a much better view of life and the world than city folks. They don’t care about brands or unless stuff that city folk think is important.
They are always very connected to mother earth and animals. I am thankful that they exist so we can learn some actual important lessons about life!
Glad the little white bison is accepted by mom and its herd. Plus, it's considered a symbol for the natives.

Not only some Natives Tribes,but some of us "regular" folks,too. Pluto comes out of retrograde this year,in late November. The last time this happened was 1776. Only every 248 years does Pluto affect the earth so greatly.

This is incredible. The White Buffalo and the red heifer are both alive in our lifetime. That is truly remarkable. I’m not religious, but that is truly remarkable.

@@ukrainefighter2456It’s a bit of a long story tied to their tales and legends about a sacred woman that taught them everything they know about the spiritual realm, as well as how to pray and communicate with the spiritual realm by using their ceremonial pipe. She also relieved them from an ongoing struggle of starvation, and she departed as a white buffalo calf, telling their ancestors that she would come again as one and that great changes would then occur in the world. I shortened the story by quite a lot of course, but you can find some pretty good videos here on CZcams that discuss this matter. Even the chief in this video, chief Arvol Looking Horse, talks about the prophecy in one of the videos. Hope this helps!

On August 20, 1994, a white buffalo calf called Miracle was born on a farm in Janesville, Wisconsin. She is believed to be the first white buffalo calf born since 1933. It is important to note that Miracle was a very rare white buffalo and not to be mistaken with an albino buffalo. To the American Indians, the birth of Miracle was the fulfillment of their legends, as if the Great Spirit wished to bring hope and peace to all nations and people. As of today, the last known white buffalo calf, Baby, was born July 4, 2012 in Avon, Minnesota, but sadly died two weeks later.

So beautiful, both physically (as an animal) & symbolically (what it represents to people). A rebirth, a spiritual awakening, a time to start anew, a return to the sacred. I think humanity needs these things right now. Yet, also, a warning. A reminder of what is at stake here - that we must remember to value & cherish our beautiful earth - to sustain it just as it has sustained us. Happy to see the reporter remind the newscasters that tracking the buffalo is not the point - the blessing, abundance, and warning were brought upon the world once the calf was born into the world 💛 I think, going forward, we need a more wholistic & integrative approach to life ... Western ideas & technology can have a lot of value, no doubt. However, it does not have all of the answers - and there's much we can continue to learn from the indigenous peoples of the world (and, really, anyone's ancestors, if you go back far enough)

The calf hasn't been seen in a while and the rumor is that the wolves got to it. :(
Likely, a white calf will not survive very long because the wolves prioritize things that stand out.
