- The women's team took first place in the team all-around final at the 2016 Olympics and "Nightline" spoke with Simone Biles, one of their star competitors, and her coach as she trained for Rio.
These girls are the epitome of what America is. Their team is a melting pot of cultures, strong and hardworking. Congratulations to them all.

trentsjulz08 That was a good one by Amy! SHe is right. Several Olympic gymnasts have been seriously injured & some of the worst have been from the Soviet Union. This one girl had broken her leg. The doctors put a cast on her leg, but apparently the position didn’t align the her leg in the area where it was broken correctly. they took her cast off to do x-rays two weeks later and noticed the inconsistency. It was the doctors fault and in the Soviet union back in the 1980s. What happened to this young girl was heartbreaking. They put her cast back on after they took x-rays and she went back out to practice when they removed her cast two weeks later and her break wasn’t completely healed. Elena ( I think that’s what her name is/was) kept telling them that there was something wrong and her leg was still hurting her a lot. She was practicing at four weeks when she still should’ve had a cast on. One day while practicing before competition, The brake and her leg caused her to not get enough high on Of floor exercise skill and when she came down on the mat, she broke her neck and the break went all the way down her spine and left her quadriplegic. It was really sad because she only lived until she was in her 40s. She died from pneumonia, I think. It just bothered me thinking about it how some of the countries push their athletes before they are completely healed just because they want them to win. Goodness sakes! They are living/breathing lives plus human beings. I am from the USA born and raised and I cannot comprehend the way some of these communist countries work their athletes.

It is called “complete heterochromia” where one eye has a different colour from the other. There are two other different kinds of heterochromia (besides complete) , E.G
*Sectoral heterochromia*
*Central heterochromia*
The only reason I know this is because my favourite actor, “Dom Sherwood” has sectoral/partial heterochromia. 😂

This girl is more than amazing! I don't know much about gymnastics. But.....she is the BEST I've ever seen!! Is she famous? I don't recall her being on any cereal boxs or commercials, etc? No guts to try the "vault of death" though...That little Indian gymnast has more courage than the whole US team combined!
Actually, Simone does even harder vaults, and flips on floor & beam, but the Coaches will only let her do them a few times, for fun, but they won't let her compete them because she doesn't need to (her coach shared some vids on Twitter though). Now once the other gymnasts up their game (which they will), maybe they will let her. I do think that she will have to eventually because the Korean Vault champion is going to try the Triple Twisting Yurchenko (a very hard vault) in order to compete w/Simone in the event final. If she does, then Simone will have to upgrade in the next quad (4 years to 2020). I can't wait to see that.
