I fairly recently found Septicflesh and they are great. They infuse symphonic elements very well. I have listened to Death Metal for 30 years and I will say that he has a very distinctive growl unlike anyone else.

Septicflesh is a best band I've come across for a long time. This is progressive death metal and the classical orchestra really makes the band cut the mustard! The whole album is as good as this song!
The video is like the Matrix mixed with Texhnolyze. Pure dystopian cyberpunk awesomeness. You should give the album that this song is from, Codex Omega, a listen. It's really damn good. If you liked this then check out Carach Angren.
Well, you're in for a treat. All their albums are concept albums. Most of them based on real life ghost stories. But they have done some original concepts as well. Their best original concept album is Where The Corpses Sink Forever. Carach Angren are one of those bands where if you really want to appreciate everything that they are, you must listen to their albums all the way through. Plus their videos are top quality.
Yup. Another band that does concept albums is Kamelot. Nightwish have done two with Imaginaerum and Endless Forms Most Beautiful. Also, Amon Amarh's last album, Jomsviking, was a concept album too.
Love what you guys do! As for Septicflesh, I find this song fairly middle of the road. I highly recommend Promethus, War in Heaven, or Prototype (off of Titan). Better and more original songs. The video for Prometheus is a touch disturbing, though. Cheers!
When i first heard growling/chrieking in metal I hated and found it stupid. Today i only listen to growling vocals and find normal vocals not metal enough.
Ketunloikka, i still enjoy and appreciate old school singers like bruce dickinson, but growling has grown on me with time. I guess it's normal the more you get into death and black metal.
Joe E To me it happened other way around xD I was more into Death/black metal at first with growls and shit but now really starting to prefer old school metal singers etc. I still listen to death metal too though.
I am with Ketunloikka, when I was younger the more growls the better, but as I got older while still enjoying it I started to gravitate more towards clean vocals. Maybe that is why melodeath is currently my favourite genre it combines both styles.
You should definatelly check "Rotting Christ". Anything from their last decade (from "Theogonia" and onwards) will do... especially from "Κατά Τον Δαίμονα Εαυτού" album. You will be surprised!

Plus they have wonderful clean vocals on the songs like Dark Art, Our Church, Below the Sea and Faceless Queen. Not the best the album for me this year, but definitely among the top one. Too bad I did not notice this band before like Ne Obliviscaris or Fallujah. I would like you guys suggest listening Mechina band, they are one of the most epic bands in metal. Unfortunately, not a single video was released, but the huge thing of them is that they created their one sci-fi world with its own lore. That is more than cool enough.
