Thank you so much for showing the volunteers Coming and Responding to a Big call out. YES I Remember those Ford L-8 & 9000 cabs. We had two of them identical. Just Different was a jump bench seat behind the cab. One had a very easy to shift 5 speed. The other had a gear pattern, that would go in like butter, but and will say but, if you did not hit R.P.M. just in the right spot, it was a grinder. They were such great looking cabs. I like that this State or the County allows BLUE emergency Lighting. I think it's a big help to have a different color pattern on flashers. Especially the Rear of Rigs. The amber on the back of the rigs is nice, and gives a Different color to break up the red brake lights.

It's amazing how the use of coloured warning lights varies so much from State to State in the USA. These trucks all have red and blue lights facing in every direction, but in New York, only rear facing blue lights are acceptable.

In rural areas, by the time they get called in, most grass fires are "one hell of a grass fire". They're also often tricky to put out, and very labor-intensive to fight because of the square footage/acreage involved.
Maybe they didn't need all the equipment, but they probably need all the bodies.

@@OMGAPUPPY New trucks are always exciting. We've been very fortunate that our rural fire board has become a lot more progressive and has kept up our mill levy so we can continue to replace older trucks on a regular basis instead of just when something fails. In ten years we'll have gone from a fire department with old and outdated equipment to one with multiple new trucks, state of the art gear. We just got new air packs, grass fire gear and are replacing our bunker gear. Just got fitted for my new set yesterday.

  • @mr.j6304

I like how they have tried to have updated lighting on the older trucks I'm in the volunteer at some departments where we have some old rigs got to make do with what you have. Sad part is some big cities are even losing funding for their apparatuses and if they can't get new ones or get the ones they have repaired they have no choice but to find old Rigs and get them put into service somehow. Must be a small rual town. Definitely can't afford raidos or pagers they have the old air rade sirens nice. Don't get that much anymore. I used to live in a small rural town where they had the air raid siren then back in 1989 when I was about eight or nine years old they stopped using it. And they had a lot of old equipment all the way up into the early 00s then I guess when they legalize marijuana the fire department got millions of dollars of funding and they got brand new Fire Station built brand new fire department all together it went from volunteers only to having a full-time staff paid Department. Lol 😆 the way I see it if States all across America legalized it we would not have to worry about funding for law enforcement and fire departments we wouldn't even need the federal government anymore be like sorry guys will take care of our own stuff thanks .lol 😆 now the state I live just legalize marijuana too guess what the departments are getting better grants out here too. I'm all for it I mean I've never seen or heard of an OD call where you have a teenager dying on marijuana. Maybe choking on a bag of potato chips cuz they got really hungry.

Small community fire departments typically never have a new engine.

It's what we have to work with, Funding is tough in a small community. Regardless of brand new equipment or not we get the job done.

Why would you put on turnouts to a grass fire

They probably don't have wildland gear like most west cost departments have.

@@CassJCDJ123 no matter how ‘big’ a natural vegetation fire is, bunker gear isn’t the appropriate gear. Wild land gear is designed for those kind of fires. You shouldn’t need to get up close and personal with the fire. Dig a fire line, back burn or just go put it out but bunker gear just slows you down and will cause more heat stress on your body. If they cant afford it, thats one thing. They design grants to equip vol depts with better gear than we have at career depts sometimes.

Might be close to a house or a car is involved. Never know. We throw our grass gear on and put our bunkers in the back

2 man crew= 1 pump operator, 1 officer, and 0 firefighters lol, Case closed.

In some areas, you set the pump, go interior, and pray that arriving units can get water to you before your tank runs out.

The video is literally titled with what type of call they are responding to, a grass fire, usually only need one engineer/pump operator and one on the hose.
And most likely the engines are gonna stay back and just be used as water supply for the brush rigs

Can't say case closed if you never had a case to begin with. Small volunteer stations don't need to have a full crew in the trucks, because the rest can arrive in POVs. so 2 man crews are perfectly acceptable. also, it's a grass fire, don't need more than 2 on a rig for those anyway.
