I've mourned her the since the news of her transitioning, but was blessed to have been moved by all of her performances since her stunning debut. I remember being mesmerized by a song performed by a true artist like never before. I watched her live performance on SNL and in the moment I instantly understood her performance and protest. I was surprised by the outpouring of hate she got because of it. Just because her statement was misunderstood. (Ironically she was RIGHT after all.)
Re-watching her performance of "Make me a Channel of Your Peace" demonstrates why she didn't really care what anyone thought. I see her wordlessly explain her disdain for the "music industry", by walking onstage the way they wanted her to perform, in long hair, perfect makeup, wearing a sequined evening gown. She looked stunning, but to me she always did. Then, she delivers the hymn with her beautiful voice, a capella, unexpectedly. The message I got was that they wanted her perform this way, and lost her talent because they totally missed her point.
I had mixed seeing the onslaught of tributes after her passing. Angry at first, I wondered where were these people who dismissed her without another thought? But, at least they're finally HEARING her now, and being moved by her talent.
I smile knowing that now she knows she's being heard! She didn't care about the deserved fame and fortune denied her. That wasn't her passion... she told us that right away. She got what she really wanted, to be heard. And now I can finally see her smiling, and done with all the pain she leaves behind! I wish her well as she starts her next journey. I thank her. ❤
And I thank both of you, too! I apologize for the length of this. 😊✌️

One of my favorite songs of Sinead's. I did stay for the 30 seconds of silence.
