    Hi Kathryn. With only 42 jumps (at my 66 years JAJA) I find landing the most difficult part of skydiving. The problem is the perception on "when to flare", however, your landing videos have helped me a lot, sincerely. Thanks and keep up the good work!

    This is ridiculously helpful for AFF. I did stage 1 and 2 yesterday (my muscles are so sore today) and no words can really prepare you for how fast that ground comes at you. I almost stuck my first landing, nailed my second, but all with prompts from the TA on the ground. Super handy to be able to "practice" with these.

    Hi Catherine, I love your videos. I’m glad your back to making them. You probably know Bob Wright. He was my jump master on my first jump. 1972. Sexsmith, Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 I was 16 at the time. I love the sport. Our club went belly up unfortunately. Bob is still jumping. 16,000 or so. He has his skydiving business in Grand Bend. I have been toying with the idea of jumping again. I loved free falling, etc. The equipment now vs. then is incredible to say the least. My concern is my health. I have COPD, so, I’m not sure if the sport would be too rigorous. Grand Bend is only an hours drive, I’ll be getting in touch with him. Anyway I thought I’d introduce myself. Thank you for all you do. I’m willing to bet, anyone watching your videos , just might take that leap. Harry

    I always had great landings as a student but would then always crash & roll after jumping with my own canopy. Had brand new lines put on, flare was still on point, seemed to stall fine at high altitude, couldn't figure out what the issue was. I ended up having a friend record a landing and they quickly noticed that the lines were too long. I was finally back to good landings after having them shortened by a few inches.
    Doesn't sound like a huge issue, but for being newly licensed with only 30 jumps, I wasn't aware of the impact an extra 3 or 4 inches on your lines could have.

But, waiting for my first AFF jump, my only question is rate of descent, and flaring. This video really helped with some confidence in turn rate, and when to flare. Hey just a friendly tip, when you flare, you consistently turn left. Might be something important to watch out for when you downsize to a small wing. It can be due to harness inputs or target fixation or toggle inbalance.

    • @SkydiveVibes
      @SkydiveVibes  Před rokem +1

      Quick tips to stand your landings.
      1- Don't rush to touch the ground let your canopy hold you till you naturally touch it.
      2- Touch the ground and walk/run as you mean it. Haha often it is a confidence issue to stand even when the flare is great.
      3- make sure to complete your flare all the way, focus on that as you land. Even over touching the ground.
      4- It was easier for me when I folded my knees a bit like to remain in a sit position. Then I complete my flare and I can simply straighten the legs once the canopy stops. It helps to gage the height.

      @@SkydiveVibes thanks! I will take these in consideration because it describes exactly what I must correct. I was unlucky enough to break a toe while landing on my first solo jump (no. 9) and I am involuntarily protect my feet while landing, therefore PLF is the best technique I've learned so far. :)) Don't get me wrong, I do land on my feet, but sometimes my brain goes full PLF, haha. Next season I'll take a canopy course, which I find necessary, and will definitely remember the tips above for my landings to come. 🙏
