CHARGING SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING FOR PULSAR NS200 | Part 1

- There are three main sections to the charging system on most bikes (excluding the wiring inbetween). Those are the Battery, Regulator/Rectifier (R/R) and the Stator.
The battery is there to power the electrical components of the bike when the engine is not running.
The job of the Stator is to convert mechanical energy from the engine back into electricity. The output from the stator on most modern bikes is three phase (hence the 3 wires) alternating current at a peak voltage well over the 12-14V DC voltage that your electrical system requres.
The R/R unit converts the alternating current (AC) in the diode bridge rectifier section then regulates the voltage to limit it to around 14V DC where it is fed back into the Battery and powers the rest of the bikes electrics.The voltage is higher than the battery voltage so current flows from the R/R unit back to the battery to charge it.
First off before you go running through the following tests, if you are having any electrical/charging problems then check that all electrical terminals/connectors are all tight, free from corrosion and secure. Also inspect for signs of either breaks or burning in the wiring or connectors.
To do a thorough test of the charging system or other electrical items you will require the use of a Multimeter and/or a 12v Test Light. A Multimeter if used correctly is going to give you more accurate results where as a test light will only give you an approximate result according to either the brightness of the bulb or if the bulb lights up or not.
1. IGNITION OFF
2. IGNITION ON, LIGHTS ON, BIKE NOT RUNNING
3. BIKE STARTED, LIGHTS ON, RUNNING AT FAST IDLE
4. FURTHER TESTS, IGNITION OFF
5. RESISTANCE TEST
6. VOLTAGE TEST
7. CURRENT DRAIN TEST
Be warned, don’t just go out and replace either one or the other without checking the other is functioning correctly first. Otherwise you could be just treating the symptom and not the cause and get caught in a cycle of either one or the other breaking your replacement. This could get expensive.
But hold on…. before rushing out and buying replacements the earth to ground should be checked and ruled out from causing any misleading readings.
Sir, yun sakin kka charge lg nang battery aandar ang motor ko maya maya mag blink na nman ang battery indicator tapos pag namatay ang motor ko hindi na nman aandar, ano kaya ng problema?
Dalhin mo na po sir sa trusted mechanic or authorized kawasaki motoshop. Bukod po kasi sa Stator, maaring naapektohan na rin ang ibang parte ng Charging system ng inyong motor.
1. Stator (madalas sunog na kaya di na makapag bato ng kuryente)
2. CDI/ECU (baka nabasa o may butas na ang cdi)
3. Regulator (bihirang masira pero posibleng may tama na din)
4. Battery, kung yan ay lampas na isang taon may posibilidad din na defective na.
Sana po ay nakatulong ang mga payong ito base lang din sa mga naexperience ko.

Welcome sir, unahin mo na patingan ang stator, kasi mababa din ang magiging reading ng tester sa cdi kung sunog ang stator

Paps, nasa regulator po ba problema kung walang display yung dashboard? Minsan umaandar nmn tapos nawawala ulit
Hindi yan sa regulator, basta di namamatay makina mo, sa wiring lang yan ng panel mo may problema.

If your battery is new or still in good condition, in my experience defective stator is the problem.
Also, inspect all the components of charging system, from Stator, regulator, cdi or ecu, then battery to be sure that everything is in good condition.

Battery is new but showing battery signal when light switch on please tell me what is the problem
I recommend to bring your motorcycle to your trusted mechanic and check the stator. It happened to my motorcycle.

Gaano mo na katagal gamit yan paps, nalubog mo ba sa baha yan? meron bang display ang panel? Kapag bago pa naman battery ng motor mo, try mo i-check yung main fuse kung hindi ba busted, try mo din check rectifier/ecu/stator
Na stock lang boss pinapaandar lagi hindi ginagamit
paps ano kyang problema ng ns 160 ko.lumabas ang battery indicator nya.tpos ndi na gumagana ang starting switch nya.sa.kick nlng.tpos pag umandar na eh pupugakpugak ung andar nya.
Kapag napapaandar sa kick, possible mahina na battery ng motor mo. Pacheck mo na din ang stator baka may sunog na ang coil kaya di makapag bato ng kuryente sa battery to charge.
Try mo paps dalhin sa authorized Kawasaki Motorcycle Shop, pero nasa ignition system lang problema nyan,

At tungkoo sa pagpugakpugak, pacheck mo gasolina baka may tubig
Sir ano po yung gamit nyong batt? Yung nabili ko kasi sa online OD sobrang laki.
dati po ang gamit ko ay Motolite na MF9-B, pero nasa isang taon ko lang po nagagamit. Ngayon naman naka Amaron ETZ9R ako, so far so good na po

Sir patulong naman ns150 nag battery indicator na ilaw kung nagamit ako ng headlight pag off ko kusang nawawala ang battery indicator ano kaya ang sira ng wiring ko at nag charge naman siya Ng 13.8 volts pag meron headlight 13.4 volts salamat
Pacheck nyo sir ang stator po ninyo.
Ganyan din nangyari sa 200 ko, kakapalit ko lang ng battery pero umiilaw pa din battery indicator pag naka on headlight. Nasunog yung linya sa stator na nagsusupply sa headlight

Sa experience ko sir, bihirang masira ang rectifier ng NS200, Nasubukan ko na rin na bago ang battery kaya 1 click lang start agad pero naglolowbat pa rin kasi may sunog na windings ang stator.
ok lang ba gamitin ang ytx4L sa ns 200?
kung voltage lang ang pag uusapan natin paps, yes pwede naman ,kasi 12V pa din naman yan pero masmaliit kasi yang kompara sa standard size ng battery ng NS200 na nasa YTX9-BS, ABR-PR-APBTZ9R iba pang size 9 na batteries, kaya di ko sure kung tatagal yang YTX4L compare sa mga size 9 batteries
Sir gamit ko ay 7a instead og 9 na battery ng rs natin? Tatagal ba?
Tatagal naman siguro ng ilang months, pero dahil electric starter lang meron ang motor natin at kung may mga auxiliary lights, charger etc pang naka install sa motor mo, masmabilis ang lifespan ng 7a kesa 9. Posible mangyari na minsan di mapaandar ang motor dahil maliit ang battery.

Mahirap Yun ganun.. manghuhula tau Ng sira.. tulad Nyan bumili kapa Ng regulator. Winding Pala Ng stator ang problema... Same case din sakin.. NS 160fi.. bago din battery KO.. nag pupula padin xa. Sabi Ng mekaniko buo nmn daw ang regulator at stator.

Stator mo sir, may sunog na yan. Sa ilang beses ko nagpapagawa ng charging system. Ito mga natutunan ko:
1. Unang kailangang i-check, kung lowbat charge mo po lalo kung bago pa naman, at walang physical defets tulad ng leakage.
2. Regulator bibihirang masira.
3. Stator yan madalas ang dahilan kung bakit nalolowbat ang battery o may battery icon na lumalabas kapag may sunog na coil.
Madalas na dahilan ng pagkasunog ng stator ng motor ko ay overload, or nababasa ang loob ng stator kaya check mo yung daanan ng wire kung sealed talaga. Baka may daanan ng tubig lalo na kapag nailusong mo sa baha.
Pero Hindi kopa sya na Lusob sa Baha sir at Wala akong Accessories Ng Mga Mini drive light or Fog
Nag Palit Nako Regulator now at nag charge battery Kaso Lumalabas parin Battery icon at Pag start nawawala Panel pero bumabalik sya at umaandar

@@joeygomez1622 sa experience ko paps, pero di pa din naman ako expert. Madalas nasisira ang battery kapag overloaded at kapag may fault na sa stator, ang regulator bihira masira yan kahit sira ang battery o stator, cdi pwede masira kapag nababasa o may butas. Pacheck mo na rin muna ang stator paps baka kasi napaltan mo na lahat (battery, regulator, at cdi) tapos may low battery indication pa rin tulad ng nangyari sa akin kung saan ang punot dulo lang ay sunog ang windings ng stator.

Dapat ba umiinit Ang rectifier
Parang normal na umiinit yan paps kasi may daloy ng kuryente pero hindi naman siguro yung nakakapaso na.

Nagiging sobrang init lang ang rectifier kapag may problema na ang stator, dahil pinipilit i-mentain ng rectifier ang voltage na kailangan ng motor.
Stator madalas sir nagiging problema ng ns200 kapag may voltage drop, lalo kung bago ang battery.
