  • Competition and the current U.S. economic situation are forcing Disney Parks to expand and raise prices. In 2018 Disney World raised its prices twice and switched to a dynamic pricing model. The new model prices out its early adopters in the middle class from peak park months.

Big corporations know what type of people will work for a low wage. These people are aware during the interview how much they will make. This is how some companies are operating. They want to make money. People that never had anything will work for a low wage. Others will protest, strike complain etc. They don't ask the questions at an interview. Just sit there and say okay, okay. Amazon puts a cap on salaries. You can't work no more than 60 hrs per week. Guess who has all the money? Jeff. $34,500.00 per yr is not a lot of money. If your poor or came from poverty this Amazon yrly salary is perfect for some.

They all pay the same. Don't say go to school and get a degree either, because I work at the parks and even I have my schooling payed for by them. But since every major company here is in hospitality and tourism, even if you had a good degree, you'd have to uproot your life and move somewhere else to get a decent salary in some field.
So yeah, get out of here with that ignorant, simple-minded conservative viewpoint shit. It's so much easier to just say get a better job. I swear people who say this shit are entitled people who - even if they did work hard to get where they are - had one hell of a good starting point to get to success and believe they're only successful because they're just "determined and hard-working" while others are "lazy and entitled." They don't realize that they had it easier than most others. The few successful ones who didn't have those advantages definitely don't have that entitled, arrogant viewpoint. So don't come at folks with that shit.

I go to Disney World about 5 times a week and the prices change every day on the ticket price boards at the park. Weekends are more expensive than week days typically. Sometimes it is $117 but on weekends I have noticed the price goes up to $135 and that is for one park. The park hopper option is $60 or more. Geeze.
To do what you want at Disney World you should expect to pay about $200 per day just to get in, bring $100 or more for food and snacks, and another $100 to buy a few souvenirs. And then there is Star Wars Land. $200 for a light saber (Who cares) and $100 for a droid (Cheap, small and who cares) and $30 for two drinks at Olgas Cantina (Now we are talking) Blue/Green Soy Milk stand (Skip it or try it once). I love Disney parks and want them to succeed and make tons of money but I think they could back off on how many tons of money they seperate from their guests. I think they have already crossed the tipping point and have angered a huge segment of fans.

Or take their best girl out for dinner and a movie and spend an easy $100.
So to put it into perspective. You get the massive whole Disney world 4 parks, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. Disney springs and all the resorts with restaurants etc. It is a good deal actually.

Last night I parked at the HOllywood studios, took the gondola skyliners to Epcot, watch Shena Easton in concert, walked the circle around the world showcase, and then ended up walking to the Boardwalk resort because the skyliner was not letting people on for some reason. I watched a live concert and the Halloween festivities, then hopped on the friendship boat to Hollywood studios, hung out in Galaxy's edge and rode the Smugglers Run ride. There were two little children as the pilots which was really funny. Imagine two 5 year olds flying the Millennium Falcon. They crashed and smashed us into walls and other spaceships. Disney actually pays pretty well for the job they're doing, but California cost of living is outrageous. If they adjusted the pay to cost of living, it would probably cost them billions. And besides, why does the girl working the checkout at the quickservice restaurant in fantasy land deserve to make more than the girl doing the exact same job down the street at McDonald's? Or more than me? Im a server at a busy restaurant on the last Vegas strip, but I only make $10/hr, why does a Disney employee deserve $20 for the same job? People think they are entitled.

Dear American Families, pack your bags and come over to Europe. We have amazing themeparks at way better value than Disney or Universal. If you have little kids or toddlers the Efteling is the most magical place you can imagine (with rides that could rival Disney’s). If you have kids or teenagers you should visit Phantasialand (they have themed thrillrides Disney could only dream of and Universal could only copy). Lastly we have Europa Park, one of the biggest themeparks in Europe with triple the amount of attractions (all within beautiful themed areas resembling all the nations in Europe) and operations that Disney could only dream of.
We also have a Disneyland in Paris. It’s expensive, poorly maintained and the staff makes the experience anything but magical.
So treat your kids to a trip further away and explore what’s out there. In Europe we value middle class families and you’re all treated equal. Hope to see you guys on the other side of the Atlantic!

It’s a real shame to see Walt’s vision taking this sort of turn. He was a businessman, sure, but he also designed parks like Epcot (originally intended as an actual city design) to be a place that encapsulated mans ability to create and to inspire ingenuity for the future. I t was meant to represent man at his best and was meant for everyone. I really do love Disney and their magic, but in recent years it’s been hard to associate the Disney of now with the Disney if my childhood.
The corporate machine sucks up other companies left and right and beats other parks into submission by making their own bigger and better and using the material of these other companies to their advantage.
I went to Disney several years ago, before talks about Pandora were even a thing and the Diagon Alley area in US was still rumor. A middle class family could stay for a week in a cheaper hotel resort like pirates bay (idk what it was actually called) and maybe have a fancy dinner or two at one of the really nice hotels (we went to the Polynesian for dinner one night). That same trip now would be almost triple the price my family paid just a few years ago.
I can’t think of a deeper betrayal to Walt’s vision than the way Disney treats its customers now. Sure, there’s always a place for VIP treatment for those who are willing to pay for it, but I think Disney is making a bad move here by moving away from the people that made them into what they are in the first place. If these prices had been around when my family went, we wouldn’t have gone, plain and simple.
Disney is a magic place where dreams come true, but if you can’t pay for those dreams then you never get to experience that.

I live two hours West of Disney on the coast. Literally backyard is complete open ocean. We only pay $35 each a month to go to any of the 4 parks. That grants us free parking every time we go so that’s $20 instantly saved and the discounts on food and merchandise. Disney hasn’t tried to squeeze out its Annual Pass Holders. Now I do feel sorry for families and people outside of my state. Rentals are going up and up. People are taking advantage of that close proximity to the theme parks. I live on the freaking water and my mortgage is less then half of what rentals go for. We’ve stayed at Disney resorts and that’s where my suggestion is strongly advised for traveling families. The benefits to being at a Resort on property far outweigh its cost. Look into the Disney meal plans and check out Disney Food Blog (DFB). I hope this info helps someone.

As an American in France...the "Yellow Vests" would protest to bring the price of a day a Disney down. As a result a day at Disney is 50 to 70 dollars!
When the middle class stands up for itself, things happen. We go to Disneyland here in France each year. Sometimes twice a year. When I go back home to California each summer....I think we only go once in only a special time....at $150 per person for a day at Disneyland.... It is no longer just a fun day at an amusement park....

You are gonna have to deal with waiting around but thats just the disney experience but if u can plan out your day and know when the crowds are and are willing to wake up early and stay up late you will have fun. Also you need park hopper thats the big thing that will make the trip fun without it you can get bored of the park especially if all the rides have 2 hour waits. If you ever go to disney go with someone who has experience

Back before the shut down me and my family went to the Old Spamish Sugar Mill down near Ponce DE Leon in florida. It was right next to a gorgeous freshwater spring with giant turtles to swim with. I had more fun there than standing in line for 2 hours in any Disney line. And it was only $15 to park.

This just feels so base. For the same amount of money, a family of four could rent an 800-year old castle and live in Burgundy for the entire summer experiencing the real thing.
