  • Poutine is classic Canadian street food and we had to send the french fry queen to Avondale to check out Chicago's take on this Canadian classic.

    Poutine is a French Canadian classic. Many variations exist. That looks like a great place to go. When I go to Chicago again, I'll have to go for a longer period.

    • @shockingflame
      @shockingflame Před 8 lety +22

      "Hand cut fries" most likely refers to the potatoes being cut and cooked fresh (as opposed to, lets say, mcdonalds, where they cut and cook millions of french fries and ship them to all the mcdonalds).

    Close, but no cigar. poutine is fries,cheese and of course gravy. Most places can make decent fries, the cheese is a
    no-brainer, the thing everyone drops the ball on is the gravy. His was looking pretty good up and till he added the powder
    mix. Proper gravy is like ramen stock it takes days to make. My favorite place also sell rotisserie chicken, he boils the chicken trimming spices and vegetables for two whole day, and the result is incredible.

    no, they are manually placed into the frycutter, manually cut fries would be fries cut with a potatopeelingknife
    you do not remove the skin, that is fine, but you don't seem to wash the dirt of first, which baffles me but perhaps I saw it wrong
    your stew is not made with real beef, it probably tastes great but it is not very apealing
    all in all I guess it is up to what people like, though in Belgium this place would be unlikely to thrive
