You're so encouraging! I've always wanted to make dioramas but never tried it because I was afraid of messing up, also didn't have materials, but tomorrow I'm going out, buying the basics and then I'll start. Thanks for this video!
Your very welcome, have fun creating and if you mess up don't be discouraged. I've messed up plenty and continue to but when something works and comes out good it's a great feeling. You'll do great!!
You are so wholesome that i can't believe it

It's easy to get intimidated by all the cool dioramas on Instagram etc. Thanks for reminding us that the enjoyment comes from the construction process!

I just wanted to let you know I appreciated your video very much. Very encouraging! I'm getting into dioramas after some years of Warhammer and related. I moved so lost all my tools so I have to start from somewhere, and it seemed so overwhelming that I was about to not start. But your video helped a lot and now I got myself already some tools :)
I'm glad to hear that the video inspired you. Thanks for letting me know and have a blast creating!!
I am just starting to research this hobby (I have dreamed of doing it for years). This video is so helpful and encouraging. Thank you for your courage and for sharing this with us.
I've been interested in this for a bit and since I'm sheltering in place with some of the supplies I felt now was a good time so I looked into beginner tips. Got great tips from you and felt overall good because of how positive and reassuring you were plus offering the frugal options helped a bit too haha. Thanks for the video, you've got a new sub.
Thank you for watching and commenting I appreciate it. Enjoy creating!!

Love your attitude and your accent lol. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you I appreciate the kind words. Good ole New England accent lol.
@@lawcreations6805 From just outside of Boston myself, Everett. Where are you from? I recognized your accent when you were saying to be careful with the knives, but I just can't pin it down.
Somerset, Massachusetts about 40 minutes from Boston. Thank you for watching.
Never thought of using a wire brush on wood. I was trying to think of a way to make it look a bit aged too dang it! I made the meat hook scene for my neca leatherface. It would have helped me but I already painted it up. Maybe I'll try to make another and see how it turns out
Yes a wire brush is a great way to give foam the likeness of wood grain.
Do you have a real neca leatherface? And if you do, what kind of blood stains are on the apron? What year was it released?
Very informative video :) Stay humble!
Thank you for the kind words I appreciate you watching and commenting.
Thanks for making this video kind Sir!
Your very welcome thank you for watching and commenting I appreciate it.
The foam for the ground and walls, is that polystyrene or XPS?
This was very helpful. Thanks
Oh good I'm glad it helped!! Thank you for watching and commenting I appreciate it.
Also...what brands of foam do you recommend? I saw Styrodur, Carving foam, bluefoam, Balsafoam, Airplac... so much to choose from. What thickness foam do you recommend?
I use 1/2 inch foam boards from hobby lobby and 1 inch pink insulation foam from home depot or 1 inch insulation foam from lowes.
I have boxes of unfinished
projects.I have loads of ideas but never follow them to completion.
I made my first 2 with stuff from the yard, I wasn't sure if I'd have the time and patients.
Hopefully you enjoyed creating, thank you for watching and commenting.
i will always wanted to make a tree but i don't know where i could find a leaves for it, or where i could buy.
I haven't made many trees I find them rather difficult to make. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Most folks use ground foam, you can but Woodland Scenics foliage which is fine-ground foam. If you want to really save money get a big yellow sponge , wet it and run it through a food blender. Once it is well ground use diluted green house paint (latex or emulsion paint) from a cheap tester pot to colour it. Most folks use 'sea foam' for the trees but that is a bit delicate for use as a toy (I make toys for kids).
def half inch for me, I havent found the best means to cut through the thicker foam so my lines are never smooth or anything like that, sucks
Sebastion Envi - I have seen other modelers use a heated wire device which actually looks somewhat primitive & basic. But it does the trick and actually looks pretty good with a slight sanding if need be. It almost looks like a hacksaw with the blade being the heated wire. Not sure of the technical name of it, but I’m sure if you inquire around, you’ll discover it.
What kinda foam is that
Great video: can you please direct me to your other youtube videos. Many thanks
Can foamboard and plywood as a base can stick to plaster of paris as a base diorama?
Can u make a video out of it for a beginner like me, want to make my own diorama because in the Philippines there is no scalptamold available only plaster of paris. Thanks
Plaster of Paris is good for a base on top of foam board but you should really seal it with mod podge because it is also brittle. Especially being used for a base it may chip and damage. So seal it before and after you paint and it should be OK.
Would thicker cardboard work to start out with too?
Cardboard would be fine to build a structure with but you would have a difficult time adding texture to Cardboard. Thank you for watching and commenting I appreciate it 🙏.
I don't have a static grass applicator so the grass lays flat and looks like crap. I made one from a bug zapper and that does not work. Help?
I've never used a static grass applicator and I don't know much about them. I've seen them used and they appear to work well but I also heard they can be expensive. Thank you for watching and commenting, good luck.
Wat’s the best store in united states to by diorama materials ?
My go to is hobby lobby for certain supplies, home depot for foam board and the dollar tree is a great place to pick up various supplies.
Thank you, sir :)
Holy crickey, alot of information here - what is the wood thickness/width at 10:45 onwards? Havent seen anything like that where i live, and we have like 7-8 diy stores here :/
Hello sir, want to ask.how long it takes for us to complete a 3 X 6 feet diorama?
Can someone give me things that I need in doing diorama?
Everything is so expensive and the airbrush is expensive and making models are hard to paint cos u kinda need to put in lots of detail and u need a airbrush
Your right things hobby related can be very expensive. I encourage you to do what you can do on the budget you have.
Law Creations thanks for the encouragement I will try I'm not the best artist ya know but I guess I can try I'll sub to your channel
Evan , I've been doing models an dio's for years, I have never gotten a airbrush, I just use a regular brush and craft paints, and I generally just use the dollar tree foam.
I have found a shop mixer near my place that mixes paints for cars (acrylic paint but acetone based).. i can order any existing paint in gloss or matt and 200mls are like 1.50$, but has amazing painting property as it shrinks alot after drying.
Houses i use mdf+coffee stirrers(amazing brick details if you have the patience to carve.
Plaster+Craft paints+ 2-6mm pebbles= WW2 roads
(Sillicone bathroom sealant+pebbles layers, then pour heavily diluted plaster.)
Have found very cheap but high quality artist paints too
So.. folks.. never give up, you can make amazing details from something noone can expect :)
Helpful I just wish it wasn't so long and a bit of ramblings
Normally I get annoyed when youtubers ramble too much but he’s so sweet and positive and his voice is so pleasant I didn’t mind at all
Your repeating, everything you show is upside down, what’s with that, plus you could at least wash your hands. Why the mess?
"Best way to learn is to sit down and JUST do it" Amen my brother 👏👏👏 great video you got me started happy!
