Well, it's meant to be used against vehicles. Against human targets it's a waste since you'll likely overshoot a lot of your shots.

Funny thing is, that the gunshot is not part of the script. The sound guy added that as a joke. They kept it because it's fitting. They like to let the player decides if he kills Maria or just gets her to be quiet.

The M16 in this game is so godforsakenly powerful (considering it fires in bursts of 4 with one click) that it isn't even worth using against human targets. You're better off with the AK or Micro Uzi if you have to deal with groups of gangsters.

For anyone wondering if Claude killed Maria at the end... it's both yes and no. Yes, because her voice was cut off by the gunshot, but also no because it was just for a comical ending and probably shouldn't be considered part of the story. But damn she can talk.

Remember when this was state of the art?
I remember playing this game as a 10 year old, about 7 or 8 months after it was released (it was sometime during the summer of 2002) and being blown away by the sheer scope of the game.... this shit was unheard of at the time, to me at least.
I remember thinking it would be so cool if you could actually go into all of the buildings and interact with basically everything, not realizing that would soon be common. GTA 3 may have been usurped, but I still credit this as the game that ultimately changed everything, and I still love playing it.
demon91 GTAVC was the game you could finally go inside police headquarters and some other things. It took San Andreas and IV + EFLC for you to go inside loads of buildings
yeah i remember how i was blown away by the amount of freedom in this game.I played max payne just before this and i couldnt do free roam.But this game was like heaven of freedom Firstly didnt do missions only messing around with the police and exploring everywhere.

Another useful method is to charge down the hill after escaping the mansion to your hideout, collect your weapons, then head back to the dam. If you have a Rhino stored, it would be nice to take it with you while using the turret to boost yourself back up the hill to save you some time.

I love this game, doesn't matter how you complete the objective, matters only that you do it. You make the decisions, you choose your way, not like GTA V where if you do something not as scripted you fail the mission. This game is simple and it's the best thing of it.

Bejdza no, the game was easy as hell. Maybe if you were young when you played, then maybe. Try playing it now, it's super simple. In addition, the game's clunky controls make the game SEEM difficult but that's the game's fault. The game's actual difficulty is low.
There’s a weird glitch I came across when playing this mission. Apparently if you rescue Maria then get in any car with her onboard after you fire the rocket launcher at Catalina’s chopper, Maria will still be alive after the credits end.

During the working on GTA III, Rockstar had problems for doing a voice for Claude. So they just said "fuck it" and thus, he stays mute.
And they managed to make it fit.

Claude’s selfish attitude is same as Catalina: he uses everyone in his wishes and goals, and when he sees that he/she competed all goals and doesn’t need him anymore, drains them like used condom. The great example is… Asuka. Yes, Catalina didn’t kill her. Claude stabbed her in the back, killing her brother Kenji secretly, and hypocritically and despicably serving to Asuka like nothing happened. I have nothing to do with it. And Asuka blindly trusted him and believed that Miguel betrayed by Catalina, killed her brother for real. That blind trust played a fatal role in her sad death. He stabbed in the back to 2 women (second is possibly, 50/50, my opinion below), who saved his life from inevitable death. When he came to construction side and saw Catalina’s note about Maria what was Claude’s reaction for Asuka’s dead body? Nothing. He passed her dead body like nothing happened.
And in the ending, if we accept the opinion that Claude betrayed and killed Maria during final credits (it’s very controversial, 50/50), Claude will prove that he’s not better than Catalina. He doesn’t need enemies or friends. He’s saboteur on his own. He proves that he’s the scum. I'm gonna have to disagree with you here, firstly we need to put in to consideration that Claude was us. Our feelings were his feelings also like many protagonist created back then we're silent. Secondly your not making sense with alot of things, Claude never robbed, stole or back stabbed multitudes of people who trust him. claude never drained anyone out like a used condom. You never once mentioned that Claude could have possibly killed Kenji because he was an asshole and I don't think Claude is gonna be that idiotic and admit that he killed her brother, it is a death sentence (plus he can't talk). So it's not a matter of manipulating but more of he doesn't have a fucking choice but to say it is hypocritical is ridiculous considering the situation, what will you do? Run away? There is no way of getting out of it. Also not having a reaction after seeing asukas dead body doesn't have anything to do with anything, your talking about a character that is preserved by rockstar as the strong silent type, that's exactly what they are which the same could be said for James Earl cash. Claude is nothing like her and never will be, everything you said about claude is exactly what Catalina is. I doubt he killed maria, we can hear that a witness reported seeing 2 people fleeing the scene.

My family never got to finish this game, but that crazy, traitorous witch deserved what came to her in the end. She killed everyone she saw, betrayed everyone she ever came in contact with, and made Claude waste nine years of his life with her on the run and then tried to kill him when he was no longer needed. I bet a lot of people were glad to finally put her down.

BEST MISSION EVER
To easily beat this mission, collect all 100 hidden packages first and then just go to your house to collect all the “unlocked” weapons and use just the sniper rifle to kill them all. You will have enough ammo and can kill every person from a VERY safe distance. I did this mission taking 0 damage breezing right through it
So in case you collected all packges you still got all weapons after they took all your guns at the begin?

(I know you know this, posting for the other guy) Drive from the Cartel Estate down to safehouse, pick up the weapons cache, turn right, make another right, fly the car down to the street below which leads right to the dam entrance. You should have about 4:30 or so to accomplish the mission which, with a sniper rifle, is more than enough time

This game is so much better on PC. Shooting and controls are so much more fluid and sensible. I even modded it so that I could replace the in game music (specifically game radio) with east-coast Hip-Hop like Biggie, Nas, JAY-Z, Wu-Tang, and Mobb Deep.

GTA, GTA London 1961 and 1969, and GTA 2 are part of the 2D Universe. GTA 4, GTA Lost and Damned, GTA Balled of Gay Tony, GTA Chinatown Wars, and GTA 5 are part of the HD Universe. In the 3D Universe's timescale, GTA 3 is set in 2001, GTA Vice City in1986, GTA San Andreas in 1992, GTA Advance in 2000, GTA Liberty City Stories in 1999, and GTA Vice City Stories in 1984.
This makes GTA 3 in order of events the last game of the 3D Universe so that's why no one really knows for sure if Claude shot her or not.

It might be because Toni Cipriani runs the leones after Salvatore dies and if you play liberty city stories you'll know toni's a badass
