@@pcaso In Uk it’s 40% of income, benefits against that are life long medical/hospitalisation free for family and on retirement life long pension and free schooling for kids. Here in India direct income tax 30%, then via every transaction and every day to day buying additional 10% to 28% via indirect taxes. So in short person loses 50% in taxes and in remaining 50% he has to manage own medical insurance, expenses, saving for retirement, school fees and day to day living.

Boss if we don't have lateral entry in ministership we will have people like lalu taking policy decisions. Agreed there are a lot of areas where bjp needs to improve but it's still the best we got. Its still overall the most competent and clean cabinet so far. How many scams have you heard of in the last 10 years? Compare this with the UPA tenure. Yes they should still do better and have more empathy towards the common man. I am glad that they didn't get brute majority this time and it'll force them to think and not take its voters for granted.

If one reads between the lines, what NS ,refuse to call her the FM, has taxed Inflation, Over and above the Gains.
The Capex remains at 11.11.lakh crores, and the Disinvestment targets are falling short by 75%.
The Revenue to GDP ratio is declining.
The only reason why the govt. is able to reduce the fiscal deficit is by forcing the gutless RBI to release 2.15 crores as Dividend; and the same arm twisting of PSUs to release higher dividends, which in turn leaves them with no funds for their Capex.
And worst of all, the Private sector investment too is declining.

If the idea in removing indexation was to simplify and not generating revenue, why can’t option of either paying 20% ltcg with indexation or 12.5% without indexation be left to the taxpayer.

It is not just the taxes , it is the cost of living has increased multifold.
In 2008, a kg of rice was 25 rupees, same rice is 65 rupees now.
Milk which was 10 rupees then is 25 rupees now.
Gas which was 400 rupees is now 800 rupees
Electricity has gone up three times
Train travel has become very costly
Everything has gone up 2 or three times.
Whereas income has not caught up with expenses.
Major blow is for senior citizen. Nothing for us. People who live on interest from.fd's are the sufferers. Interest rates have gone down by altleast 3 to 4 percentage points.
2029 Middle class will teach Modi a lesson. But they don't come out and vote.

CONDITIONS FOR LOWER TAXES REGIME: 1. Zero corruption (Political, Private & Retail/Administrative) 2. Best quality Managers (projects &contracts) 3. Low inflation 4. Less greed of private investors 5. Introduction of Development Tax 6. Low speculative private assets like land & buildings 7. Sound market controls without Government interference (ETHICS OF PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS & PRIVATE SECTOR)
The above are non-negotiable principles to achieve a low tax regime.

I am a middle-class taxpayer, and I would give this budget 1 out of 10. Due to this middle-class negative sentiment, India's consumption is low, due to which investments are also low. So, imposing more taxes can bring down fiscal deficit, but the low consumption level will actually cripple the economy in the long run. Uske bad ye fiscal deficit leke chatna.

@@yushpi really? Then go and dive deep into tax collection amounts and find out what percentage of amount is collected from income tax vs other taxes. Today middle class is on verge of breaking, one visit to hospital and life long savings are vanishing. I myself went through the same during my mother’s cancer treatment. Post all these expenses we have to save for our kids education, own retirement and own Medicare. All people in Govt job get medical free and retirement funds but middle class after paying almost 45% taxes I.e almost working for 5 months for Govt to pay taxes gets zero in return.
Worsted part is GST, Taxation to 5lakh. Govt should understand after all deduction n individual in Hand salary is not even to run a family.

Sir,economy is good because,the government is collecting GST on every thing.Even the locally made Idly Vada or Dosa is attracting CGST, Earlier we were paying CST on inter state goods. The FM is not at all an expert in Finance
1. Our budget is barely half a trillion dollars 2. A population size 145 crore vs 3.90 trillion dollars demand as of now 3. Required demand (over & above present 3.90 trillion dollars) is of the order of at least 600 billion dollars 4. To generate employment for a nation of 145 crore population @ 1 crore employment a year for Five years means one trillion dollars in payments as wages & salaries in that time frame.
So, the debate and answers shall follow these numbers. These numbers say the need OF THE HOUR in big font - bold & underlined is "TRANSFORMATION". HOW ? IS THE JOB OF WHOM? 50 LAKH CRORE BUDGET AND ONE CRORE PAID JOBS EVERY YEAR? BEGS FOR MANY QUESTIONS OF CONTENT AND MANY ANSWERS OF SUBSTANCE.
