There have been several X class solar flares in the past day or so, strong enough to affect some radio communications and satellites. I remember when all the firetrucks had paper maps detailing every little road and trail in the county. I remember before 911. Our local police number was 633-2020. I last called it 50 years ago. Dispatchers used regular analog radios and told people where to go, where to turn, etc. People are too dependent on tech. I still keep a map book in my car.
