Started boiling peanuts last year once I found a source of green ones. Loved them so much I started growing my own. No easy feat here in Eastern Canada but they are doing fantastic. I'll wait till after the first couple of frosts before I harvest.

叶江 Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia mainly. I know it’s not the importing your thinking of but anytime something is sent cross the Mason Dixon line then it’s considered exporting to the southern states and importing to those poor Yankees in the other side of the line, bless their hearts ♥️!!!
They just had no clue what they had to grow up without but once they did we’ve been exporting to them by the burlap sack full!! Lol 😆

I moved to Ft. Myers FL in 1981. A man down here from South Georgia owned a corner store and sold boiled peanuts 🥜 cooked in a crock pot with smoked ham hocks, neckbones, and jalapeño 🌶. I still live in Ft. Myers, and I still buy Dave's famous boiled peanuts.

Boiled Peanuts are great! There is something else that tastes like boiled Peanuts.
I was out trying to learn to forage and found wild radishes. I identified it first by the flowers, it was to late in the season, the roots went to wood. The leaves taste good, but the texture is like sandpaper. The only thing left to try was the seed pods. So I boiled them up and found they taste just like boiled peanuts. They work great for a garnish on a salad, just boil them, chop them up and toss them in a salad. You should try them sometime, sure you will like them.

A man after my heart...I can eat boiled peanuts ‘til I flounder. My BNL & I do them up in a pressure cooker. 10 minutes a batch then release the pressure. I’ve also pressure canned them in quart mason jars. Same time span but have to let them cool down without releasing pressure to keep the liquid from boiling out. 25#s will yeild about 4 cases of quart jars and last me about a year. 😉. Like spicing them with jalapeños or Tabasco or Valentina Mexican hot sauce. 👍🏻👍🏻

Living in the country on a farm must be like heaven. I knew several fella's who did a lot of hog hunting in the Delta. They gave me a lot of hog sausage. Talk about good. Very lean and healthy without all those bad chemicals commercial food companies put in. Love southern boiled peanuts too.

My first time trying boiled peanuts was a couple years back. Being from the north, I didn't know what you were supposed to do with them. I ate some of them and was in the truck stop a little later and the young lady asked me how I liked them. (I had mentioned never having them before when I purchased them) I said they were okay, but awful chewy. She gave me a funny look and asked, "You did shell them didn't you?"
I said, "I thought that was why you boiled them, so you could eat the shells." She shook her head no and we both started laughing.
Guess I'll know better next time. lol
Another interesting video, keep them coming. Have a good day.

Here in western NC we have a unique recipe for the peanuts you boil.
    1. Three pounds of peanuts with enough water to have a 3 inch covering.
    2. One cup of salt per pound.
    3. Three tablespoons of crushed red pepper.
    4. Three cups of white vinegar.
Boil 3 to 4 hours, depending on personal tastes.
The vinegar and peppers are a must for that special flavor you'll get.
Betcha can't eat just one and walk away!!

Not sure you could stand the taste at I cup salt to the pound...hope ya meant 1 cup to 10 pounds. I'm a pro peanut boiler..come on down..🤔😉😎💯 lol

    • @1982MCI
      @1982MCI Před 3 lety

Emmett Kozel nope, it’s one cup per pound!!!! I’m in NC also and that’s the way it is. But they don’t get overloaded with salt. Much of the salt boils away and if there’s not enoug then you end up with under salted nuts. I’ve been doing them over 50 years here and they aren’t to salty and what everyone around here expects. I cringed when Jeff Spain only 2 tablespoons per pound but hey, different ways for different states, makes life more interesting!
