Performance Notes
Hard to think of a more appropriate place to play “The Music Never Stopped” than in New Orleans, where that’s literally true on so many levels. The Bob Weir/John Barlow tune, first heard on the Grateful Dead’s 1975 album “Blues For Allah,” conveys the power of music to inspire joyous celebration - something integral to the everyday life of the Crescent City - and Dead & Company maximize the song’s potential as a jumping-off point for high-spirited collective improvisation that recalls David Crosby’s wonderful description of Grateful Dead music as “electronic Dixieland.” - Gary Lambert

Dead & Company was formed in 2015 when the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir joined forces with artist and musician John Mayer, Allman Brothers’ bassist Oteil Burbridge, and Fare Thee Well and RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti. The result was one of the most successful touring bands of the decade. The inaugural tour kicked off in the fall of 2015 with two sold-out shows at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City and ended with two sold-out performances at the ‘Fabulous’ Forum in Inglewood, California.
Since then, the band has completed five tours, playing to more than 1.5 million fans, and has become a record-breaking stadium act. Dead & Company has headlined iconic stadiums across the country including Folsom Field, Autzen Stadium, Citi Field, Fenway Park and Dodger Stadium. Additionally, the band broke Wrigley Field’s all-time concert attendance record in 2017. Dead & Company’s 2018 Summer Tour ranked in the top 25 of the Top 100 Worldwide Tours and for the past two years, their Summer Tours ranked in the top 15 of the Top Global Concert Tours. - Hudba
I love this groove. The drums are tight. Jeff might be my fav keyboard player they've had. Sooo tasty. The pure joy that John, Otiel and Jeff bring to the music is palpable.
love how funky his clavinet gets after they drop back in from the jam
Jeff is really special!
One of my favorite Weir / Barlow songs.
Transitional Sequences...
Never Stopped...
no, i wouldn't...
Thank God and thank Jerry. And always Be Kind
Awesome John solo at the 10:00 mark.
Never stopped, never stopped, never stopped.
I like alot of dead tunes but music never stops always puts me in the zone
It’s hot to the touch before a single word is sung, miss you’s guys! ❤️
Great recording of a real sweet version of this iconic Dead song that’s just such a perfect platform for any number of approaches and takes. This one came out so nice. Superb performance all around!
I can't wait to see this *LIVE* again one day soon!
John Mayer is superb in this venue, like I never believed imaginable. But he also has so much more to offer in other venues as well. He is young and hopefully can have a long and illustrious career, Dead & Co. and well beyond.
John was definitely on his game for this 1
I’ve been saying that all along ,it couldn’t b any better now !,❤️❤️🌹🌹🐰🐇
Nah man john is on another level what a great musician
Indeed Roberto! And as I might add to all the 1.25 speed people...easy to watch a video but maybe you should actually go to a show, especially this show,...the 1.25 is for, I believe, people who don't get it (you all know what I mean, ha)...but comments are entertaining none the less! To the band- Thank you! (And never forget to thank Robert Hunter, for all those who say, 1.25, and don't know who he even is. : ) Peace.
John..keep the music going
Amen! Lots of JM haters but all I see is a talented musician that fits in well and keeps this thing rolling.
Wow billy sounds great so does Micky. So good john is really carrying the band with billy and Micky
Nobody has more stage time than Bobby! 🤟
Thank you thank you thank you! Mayer is dead to me
I hope you mean that in a positive way. He has really taken to this wonderful music 🎶 💕
Man this jam is groovin! Can’t help but to cut a little jig listening to it
None out there better with the music. Keep it going and never stop.
I do love these guys ! ❤️Bobby did very good in picking out his new band ! ❤️✌️🫶🏼🤘🙀😱🪬🕊🔮👽🪐🛸🐰
This is amazing
Bob Weir sounds pretty good for his age.
And if you were there on the rail like I was at the foot of Mayer you don’t have to do anything but close your eyes leave the speed the same
I saw Weir perform this at the NorVA November 2000 w/ RatDog. The sax player gave it a Dave Matthews Band flavor. On keys that night...Mr. Jeff Chimenti. 🔥 Miss Wasserman a lot.
I completely dig the vibe, and I'm thankful for it. But, if you play at 1.25X speed it reminds me of late 70's dead
1.15x is more reasonable.
Dima dima Marocain ❤🎉🎩🙏👍merci beaucoup ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Never stopped but certainly slowed down. Gotta love Dead & Slow anyway though.
Boooom ❤🎉john
Asleep
, hey Bam Bam I love you brother I hope you're still alive man
I love the joy John has..goofy looking but I love it
Pure joy
John saved us from losing the Grateful Dead as all u heads out there know ✌️☮️🐇👽🪐🕳🕊🐰😘🥲😍🙉🙈🙊
The Dead ended in 95.
If he can bring Billy and Phil back jnto the group I’ll be impressed.👍
Hey Bam Bam I love you man
To the family's hildebrad to the families Clary full circle that sit here this is a full circle Bobby Phil and the rest of the kids on my way the doors open I love all of you let's get back on the road let's get the music going again man come on 🌈😇
I had the band plays for you boys I'm glad you got home he's not belong and you should not have stayed here you went home Florida California Clary hey Liz you got his belt right
Love the guit switch. Will you send me the grey one John? You can hand deliver it and we'll jam for a bit. VT is beautiful! I'll play bass witchu...
...the moon come up in wine...
I'd like to suggest something - When John and Bobby echo each other's vocal, I think it'd be cool if the bass player and keyboardist would chime in like they were doing a round so it would sound more like an echo: There's a band out on the highway...on the highway...on the highway...on the highway They're high steppin' into town...into town...into town...into town It's a rainbow full of sounds...full of sounds...full of sounds...full of sounds It's fireworks, calliopes, and clowns Everybody's dancin'... Also Bob has should stop repeatedly shouting "Never stopped never stopped never stopped" and instead include variations of "never stopped playing" "the music never stopped" "the music never stopped playing" and from there they can segue into "Playin' in the Band"! What do ya think?
Hey, Will you guys perhaps play in Europe soon?
Visst vore det Kul ;-}
Dreamagic23 Ja fyfan det hade suttit som en smäck. Men sannolikheten är nog väldigt låg.
Don´t touch the Speed-button! It´s a mind trap!
& the MSN...
In the marketplace the most beautiful song is marred and interrupted by the clattering of pennies. And the marketplace begins where solitude ends. -Nietzsche
I hope u mean that he’s dead meaning he is part of the Dead !
...it just slowed waaaayyy down
That's the acid kicking in
Wonderful solo by JM. Too bad Weir yet again held his climax back.
sounds gay enough to me
@@lionofjudah4574 hahah
Henrik Lindland I agree and the tempo is a bit too slow too. I guess that’s what when’s when you get old. (The drummers and Bobby)They probably all drive slow too.
Put this on a 1.25 speed and it's perrrrrfect
I dare you to listen at 1.25x speed 😉
1.25x only
Yes , set speed to 1.25x is the way to listen to this band. Why are they releasing individual song videos from Fall tour 2017? How about something a little more recent?
cuz most everything about GDP is upside down satanic these days dood
Its because all these shows were just released on spotify and apple music
This is feb 2018 by he way
Kevin Borchers , technically weren't they the rescheduled shows from Fall 17 when Mayer had an appendectomy?
Daniel Snow Just because they were rescheduled doesn't make them from 2017 dude.
I want to love this but the slow tempo is just a constant downer
If only these old farts could speed this up a bit it would be very reminiscent of the old days pre 1991. Kidding about the old farts comment even though they are lol I can tell john mayer would prefer to increase the pace a bit but oh well still cool to see. The majority of the band still kicking. Unfortunately lesh is among the oldest members and finds it tough to perform with some of the health issues he has had. But the fill in seems decent.
Reading the comments chilling ok n the back deck, and had to respond to this...Phil is currently touring and always has been, so to say he is not with DC & Co, because of health issues, is completely inaccurate. What should have been suggested is, Phil is not with the core group is simply 2 things:. After Jerry passing, Phil and Jill Lesh tried to take over, and #2 is, Jill Lesh. There is a lot to this and it's all out there, just need to do your own research. My 2 cents and facts. Side note, this was a jam, it was great being there! Thank you boys.
Need to play this song at 1.25 speed. Tempo is way too slow.
Stick to Bobby tunes and you're gravy.
So slow...
Wayyyy too slow it draggsss awful
John Mayer just doesn’t have it, doesn’t have that heavenly groove
