- This snippet is taken from a very old explore on the former Peak Forest Tramway, in North Derbyshire.
It was one of the first walks I did, and was a bit off the cuff, as I was staying nearby.
I walked from Bugsworth Basin on the Peak Forest Canal, following the 1796 tramway towards Chapel-en-le-Frith, in the hope of finding the second oldest railway tunnel on the planet.
Built in 1796, Stodhart tunnel is second only to Fritchley tunnel, on the outskirts of Crich, Derbyshire, when it comes to age.
It is very easy to find. Unless of course, you are me.

Not a walk suggestion but it could lead to some ideas for you-there’s a coal mining exhibition/40 year anniversary display of the strike at Eckington miners welfare this week. Just thought id mention it if you could go it might give further inspiration for stomps
