Germanic doesn't mean german it's a subcategory of languages that evolved from each other and are similar including english, german, dutch, Danish, swedish etc...
Watch the movie “Centurion”. Picts destroy the Romans. Proud to be Scottish 🏴
The Pictish we are still alive. We are just citizens of Scotland.
Fun fact: the Irish word for an English person, "Sasanach" literally means a Saxon. The Irish language has a long memory.
How poor is the education system in the USA. It must be the worst in the first world.
scotland is one of the oldest civiliastions in europe, we were the center of knowledge during the stone age.
Scotland was formed before England!!
All history is dark and even more horrible than you can think.
Anglo Saxons were invaders from Germanic tribes. They're considered "British" because they settled here and we had a long line of Anglo Saxon kings.
"the start of Scottish civilisation" HAHAHAHAH she thinks we're civilised xD
'Irish history was a bit dark. Let's hope scottish history is better.'
currently there is sort of a revival of the scottish gaelic language, a lot of work is being put into learning more people on how to speak it and keeping it alive, there is only around 50,000+ speakers at the moment. There is a course now on duolingo with around 250,000 people learning so lets hope we can keep it alive! Slante mhath agus Tapadh leat!
If you want to learn about Scottish History, which I recommend considering I myself am Scottish, I would consider watching History Summarised: Scotland.
Wow you went right back. The picts history starts in the bronze age. This was interesting but very much a language history and not a history of the people or historical events you know? It would be a bit like starting understanding American history by discussing those who came before the native american tribes people are familiar with now. That mid-point and something more of a defining historical milestone for us is the jacobite rebellion and highland clearances.
Should do a video about Scottish independence against the English army, William Wallace and that
'Beth sy'n digwydd' translates to 'what's happening?' In Welsh, fun fact, around 20% of people in Wales speaks Welsh as a first language including myself🙂
I am a Picti/Scotti, we assimilated Into modern Scotland, the Romans called it Caledonia. The Scots named it Alba (pronounced Alapa). We are one nation now, we are Scots, we come from Scotia.
The Angles and Saxons came from what is now Germany.
We're still here! A good percentage of of Scots are descendants of the Picts. I have strong Pictish and Kernow (Cornish) roots.
