- It's time to analyse the many fight scenes in Arcane, the Netflix animated series based on the League of Legend games. In this Arcane analysis, I'll be analysing and breaking down two fight scenes. Vi vs Silco from #Arcane Act 1 and Vi and Jinx vs Ekko and the Firelights from Act 2. What do these scenes tell us about these characters, their world and what to expect in season 2?
This is part 1 of this video analysis, with part 2 examining the fight scenes Jinx vs Ekko and Vi vs Sevika, so look forward to that!

Honestly the Vi vs Sevika fights are pure art. The first one is a bit more brutal and real, grounded, but the second one goes ham with the visuals and style. I’m looking forward to part two for that rematch fight in particular.
And then there’s the Jayce and Vi vs the Chemtanks. That fight is almost pure flash with Jayce and Vi both letting out most of their frustration and Jayce even getting into it. This is really the fight that just goes hard on color and style before abruptly hitting us with reality and the consequences.
Next season I hope we get a real tag team fight with Cait and Vi. Cait helping Vi by sniping while Vi goes in fists blazing. I want it.
Thank you, seconded on the Vi and Cait team up, that cinematic league did of them a little while back got me craving that exact kind of team up! 😁
"vi and sevika electric boogaloo" made me laugh for some reason
more seriously this was a great analysis, and i didnt even catch onto half of what you said here so it was rather insightful too!
Thank you! Took me a few recordings to say that particular phrase without any laughter 😅
Can't wait for the second part of this! I saw a youtube comment a while ago about the Ekko vs. Jinx fight that pointed out how it shows either: Ekko learnt how to actually dodge that last bullet, or was the sound of the 4th one an echo (pun very intended) of what happened in the past that rings through Jinx's head... did she not shoot him on purpose? Gave a whole new layer of appreciation on top of the many already there.
Ohhhhhhh I like this concept 😁 I'm pretty hyped to cover that fight in part 2! There's lots of ways to interpret it since much of that scene takes some pretty strong creative liberties in how it looks
The fight with vi and jinx was also a reunion of the people who were alive after the events of ep 3: ekko, vi and jinx and it shows us how much their fighting styles have changed. Yay happy family reunion😀😀🙂🙂🙃
I don't think this show is capable of such things 😂
Go Hard? We Pop Stars?
Enjoyed the video. The fights do a great job of blending “Rule of Cool” with a strong feeling of realism, both emotionally and mechanically.
Unintentional, but I'm glad that it made you think of that particular song 😂
For all Silco's waxing poetic about loyalty he really does just feed bodies into the grinder to achieve his ends doesn't he. Great analysis. As you touched on I really love how every single fight in this series is there to further the story, flesh out the characters and just overall enrich what we are watching. The only fight that even seems to just be a "get hyped" moment is initially portrayed that way deliberately so they can have the rug pulled out from under the audience the same moment it's pulled out from under Jayce. It's just fantastic, efficient use of story telling throughout.
Thank you! 100% this, they all enrich the story in some way or another, even the less obvious ones on the surface
First off, thank you for the subtitles T-T
Fight scenes are not as entertaining to me as someone who has a basic knowledge of martial arts, you often see movements, pauses and punches that make no sense, should knock out an opponent or are so risky no sane character would use them; but with Arcane due to the blend of realistic movement + rule of cool * emotional investment, it is much easier to sit down and enjoy the scenes.
Thank you for your hard work creating this video, it was well-edited and articulated so much of what I like in the show ♥
You are welcome! And thank you! 😄
Its really funny to me how nobody has pointed out that the vi and jinxes reunion was also the reunion of them and eckko showing how all 3 of them and their fighting styles have grown
For Vi certainly, although she had no idea it was Ekko at the time. It's also implied just by Jinx's reaction in episode 7 with 'look who it is, the boy saviour' that Jinx and Ekko have had quite a few run ins in the timeskip 😅
@@kellyxiaomedia id love to see more flashbacks of jinx and ecko maybe the moment he saw jinx kill for the first time maybe wed get his famous line too
I am desperate for S2 to touch base with some of those memories. But especially Jinx and Ekko, the 'Enemy' music video has me craving some of that childhood friends content for S2.
@@kellyxiaomedia There's a 100% chance we're getting that flashback s2. I was just on Twitter and it was confirmed that ep 7 was supposed to have a flashback of ekko building the firelights and trying to save powder only for something "dramatic" to happen between them.
The scene got cut for time which FIRST WTF we were robbed!
But secondly they'll definitely fit that in somewhere next season, Amanda Overton more or less hinted at it back in December.
Glad I'm not alone in being obsessed with this show.
100%
I apologize for double comment but I just love when dogs want to help but the task require zero dogs so they just stand there looking at you with love in their eyes ♥
I've seen people say that our protagonist could had escaped if not for Powder but at the 2nd phase of the fight they needed just a bit more time, if Pow Pow had only used ONE bomb instead of all of them I they could had made it out but that's tragedies for you, knowing there was a way out but missing it :)
My dog really understood the assignment 😂 yup, it sucks, but Deckard was about to tear that door down, so it's really hard to say what would have happened if the bomb hadn't gone off. Double comments are all good 😁
Still waiting for part 2... Vi vs Sevika round 2 is one of my favourite fight scenes ever, in any show or movie. I love it because it's explicitly, and for character reasons, gratuitous: Vi is just pissed, frustrated, at her wits' end, and decides to take it out in a completely pointless bar brawl against someone she just doesn't like. The raw emotion translated into sheer brutality is just chef's kiss.
Incidentally, a critical moment that you didn't mention in Vi and Powder/Jinx vs the Firelights: Powder/Jinx nearly shoots Vi, just as she shot that big bruiser in episode 4. That's the moment Vi really starts to realize something is seriously wrong with her sister.
It's on the pipeline! But there will be another fight video before the Vi vs Sevika fight, I decided to give both of the remaining encounters I wanted to talk about their own videos respectively!
Would love a look at the Vi and Jayce vs. Silco's goons fight. Besides looking cool it's the first time we see hextech weapons used. It really shows how powerful hextech based weaponry can be and why so many people want it. It's also a nice nod to fans since it's the characters with their signature weapons unleashing their signature moves.
Incredible video! I'm glad you got a sponsorship! Loved the Wicked references btw ♥
Thank you! I cannot help myself, they always manage to creep into my scripting 😂
I’m glad that you’ve done another Arcane essay!
Just wanted to say that I absolutely love these video essays; can't wait to watch part two of this. Also, the Wicked references are noticed and appreciated!
Heck yeah 👍 I am glad my ability to fit them in my scripts are appreciated 😂
The chemtank fight is so good.
Powder: im not a fighter!
Jinx: but i am! *kicks major ass*
hello, nice vid , i would say that Silco did not really chose the place, this is more where VI choose to hide.
Loved the part 1 of the analysis and eagerly waiting for part 2
The thing I find sad is that powder put more than one stone in the monkey bomb, seeing the damage done by just one I think one would have been enough to work
Jorah was my fav' GoT character. another good vid, thanks!
amazing as always! I’m always excited to see what new videos you put out ☺️✨
thanks for the assist queen!
Just IMO, the two best fight scenes where:
Sevika vs Vi round 1
Vi and Jinx vs Firelights
This is another great story and writing analysis, on a fantastic series. Thanks! Can't wait to see part two.
Thank you!
Looking forward to part 2
Thank you!
Great video keep it up
Amazing video really! I do enjoy your Arcane's video essay and I can't wait for the second part of this one :) I also have a question: as it may be obvious from my profile pic, the character I got most fond of has been Powder/Jinx. One reason is that I'm working with people facing mental diseases and therefore I got trhilled by the representation they made in Arcane of her mental disorder... so, my question is if it could be interesting to realize a video-essay about this topic, both the disease (I'm not sure how it's named in english) and the representation given in the serie/more general in cinema/animation/series etc. Thanks for reading and for your great work! :)
another banger of a video essay
Thank you for the support as always my dude 👍
@@kellyxiaomedia your welcome
Sweet that's awesome
Great video
Thank you!
I’m so happy that you got a sponsor! I’ve been watching you for a while now and seeing you grow as a channel is the same as seeing a little plant you’ve planted grow, it’s such a warm and fuzzy feeling. I also love your word choice to describe the fight scenes and your attention to detail when it comes to breaking down these important parts of which, often times, have its messages to be read in between the lines. Luckily I know I can count on you to break them down as they should and put things into perspective even more than before. Thank you so much, I truly enjoyed this as well as the other videos you have around your channel, and I’m hoping you continue conquering other people’s hearts like you did mine. The amount of time you spend on the scripts for these videos, editing, doing voiceovers and more is very clear to perceive. Your accent is also so nice to hear, although this is unrelated hahaha. Thank you!💗💗
This is such a wholesome comment to wake up for, thank you 😭
Did you know that Deathbattle plans on doing a Harley Quinn vs Jinx match. If so, do you plan on doing a reaction vid to the fight?
Where was this in my feed 2 weeks ago youtube?!
(Also cool sponsor!)
I don't know 🙃 unfortunately I think CZcams goofed in having the video in people's recommendations and feeds
👍this counts as a double like, right?
Please keep feeding my addiction to Arcane.
It basically does! So long as people keep enjoying them I'm probably going to keep making them
Ahhh critical role in the background
(maybe a video on them later?)
Yup! I have one video up on the Briarwood Arc from Campaign 1, and more videos ideas in the pipeline 😁
The minigun is used quite a bit for dramatic effect indeed. On the platform when Jinx barely misses her sister when firing at the Firelights; on the bridge; at the tea party, this time in Caitlyns hand. Thankfully, Jinx does not seem to hit that many shots, really (anything aside from the friendly fire on the tattoed giant on the airship?).
And thanks for validating the chokehold Arcane still has me in as well. 😅 I'm looking forward to part 2 with the glorious Vi/Sevika fights.
It's very true, a well used weapon. Thank you!
Hm, how interesting.
Will you two be resuming your Owl House reactions and analysis, now that it has returned?
We don't currently plan to
Is that the mighty Nein on your background?
Yup!
Hm, i don’t really know what to say, this video had some pretty analysis and the fights themselves were pretty well made, don’t know what else to say,
So instead, i will ask a question that has nothing to do with this video,
Have you ever heard of Black Rock Shooter?
Thank you, I have yes, never watched it myself but pretty sure it's related to vocaloid and that general area of things
@@kellyxiaomedia in a way, but also not quite, it’s mostly it’s own thing with Vocaloid simple being sort of it’s first ground to stand on,
where it then could then expand from there and become a Multi-Media-Franchise with a OVA Movie, a Manga, a Video Game, a Manga based on the Video Game and a Official Anime TV Mini-Series under it’s belt,
with now also a new Anime currently on it’s way,
So, if you’re interested, i highly recommend checking any of it out.
