    For the Exotac lighter you might want to put a few extra flints under the fill cap. A full lighter will do you no good if you do not have a flint. I keep extra flints in my Zippo and they have come in handy.

  • @RobertFireLionBlueHawkWinkler

    To check the fuel level in a colored BIC lighter, light up a good flashlight, stand it on end, place BIC bottom end on flashlight lens and lighter will become illuminated allowing you to see the fuel level.

    For several years now, I’ve been stocking up on Bic’s, fero rods, Zippo lighters, lighter fluid, flints & wicks, and even matches. We as a society, take fire for granted. Go without it a day or two and you quickly realize just how important it is. Great topic to cover Blackie. Thank you! -Stephen, Ohio

    As an ex-smoker I can attest to zippo lither fuel burn... as a smoker and welder for over 50 years I had to carry a zippo because, a bic was a 1/4 stick of dynamite style safety hazard in your pocket... But over fill that Zippor and slap that bugger in your front pants pocket and you'll have a new light on the day... so... this little hack cut a length of bicycle inter-tube and work the zippo down inside until the zippo lid is nearly covered. this seals off the the lighter and prevents it from leaking into your pocket and stops the naphtha burn and evaporation . need to use the lighter? just peel the rubber tube down until the lid is free and fully exposed. Oh and wanna hang it round your neck or diminish the chance of losing it? just use a paper hole punch and punch a hole (one on each side of the tube) tie a lanyard of paracord through the holes. cheaper than that EXOTEC lighter

      i hear ya my dad carried a zippo for 40 + yrs..and i remember he spoke of the times he over filled it and the fluid leaked out and blistered his leg..like everything else ya gotta pay attention to the details

    I have one of those exotac bic lighter covers and think its a great piece of kit. Bicycle inner tube goes well around it too so you have an easy source of tinder that works well even if its wet, all in one small item.

    Love this series and I bought both of them at a prepper store in my area after watching Matt Mercers review. They only had black so I put a bright color cord on them. I find lighters all the time so I just put them in an old coffee can for barter if I need them. I have been doing it for years. I like the rubber o ring you put on the Fero Rod I will have to do that. Keep the videos coming.

    Got a titan light awhile back and filled it used it some then it sat for a few months and lit up nicely. Really like it because the fuel does not evaporate.

    I was thinking what do you do with your revolvers and other guns when you go to sleep in bush. Do you slip for example with your revolvers on your belt or you hide it somwhere so that nobody can take it while you are aspeep. ? Sory for my English.

      Bill Pullen , I once heard of a black powder Hunter that would put coals in with moss and punk wood to carry them in a plugged horn. Nice fella, but a bit absent minded at times. Strange story...he went out one day and just disappeared. People from surrounding counties swore that articles of kit and clothing that were found in yards, trees, on roofs, etc just fell from the sky, but police didn't believe that for a moment. Yup, nice fella....I wonder what ever happened to him? 🤔💭💣💥😆.

    You can easily see how much fuel is left in a Bic by shining a flashlight through the body. Elementary! It might not work on black or a very dark color.

    I got one of the Exotac fluid lighters it must be one of the early ones because the O ring seals don't seal and the fuel evaporates. Exotac ignored my emails. No bueno.

    • @instantsiv
      @instantsiv Před 5 lety

      I bought a sleeve for the Bic lighter and the seal on that doesn't seal too. Too much pressure builds up and pushes the cap off by itself. They completely ignored my multiple emails as well.
