David's Story | Part Two

“The most important person in my life is still with me today - that’s my daughter, every day the bond is growing stronger. For a while there, I thought I would lose her.” David came to Guiding Light in December of 2020 “downright scared” and desperately seeking any way he could get out of having to face the demons of addiction that had plagued him for so long. But it was the picture of his daughter he kept hanging next to his bed that kept him here. As time went on, the fog began to lift, and David began to see the very real possibility of actually getting and staying sober. He worked with Program Director Brian Elve, who encouraged him to try and re-connect with his daughter. Since David left Guiding Light, his daughter “is starting to trust me again, and is saying that she is proud of me.” Happy Father’s Day from all of us at Guiding Light, thank you for making stories like this possible.
