  • This was such a fun Camping and fishing trip to Whittier, Alaska. We set up our tent on the beach overlooking the beautiful Prince William sound. Surrounded by mountains and glaciers and went fishing catching our limit almost immediately. the sun didn't go down until 1am and it was so peaceful to listen to the stream, seagulls, and commercial fishing boats driving past in the bay. We saw a BLACK BEAR!!! he was young but we watched him come down and pull a fish right out of the stream by our campsite.
Watch to the end of the video to see the abandoned Buckner Building which is one of the most famous buildings in Alaska. its very spooky inside if you've never seen it.

Back in the 80's, to get to Whittier, you actually drove your car onto a flatbed train, and stayed in your car as the train went thru the tunnel. Cars weren't allowed to drive the tunnel until the late 90's i think.

I bet that was interesting and took a lot longer for traffic to get in and out. We did a few flatbed train transports when we were in Europe in the alps. The craziest one was from France to the UK where it takes you under the English Channel

Wow this place looks like a really great place to escape and enjoy nature. Love that you can just catch fish by your campsite
