- This was so cool! While the cab wasn't a perfect cylinder (the back is flat) I'd say close enough! Those curved doors are awesome.
This is the small town of Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. We stayed in the neighboring town of Murren for 3 nights in July 2016.

There is another round Otis In the Musical Arts Center on the IU Bloomington campus. I have spent many hours with those dam round doors. Every elevator in that building was a one of a kind..All Otis.

I have ridden one in an local Aquapark. I dont remember if it was otis, schindler or KONE (but propably KONE) and it was perfectly round. It was in Aquasvět Chomutov, Czech Republic if you wonder

thewildeeper There was an Otis corner elevator in the Tarrant County Courthouse in F.W. Texas, that i had the opportunity to ride when i worked for Dover Elevator back in 1981 when we put installed a new double hatch system. The hoist motor relays were the diameter of a tennis ball & would arc noisily upon contact. It was't in our contract to remove it, but the iron workers asked us how we would have gone about the task. So we advised them on safest dismantling procedure method possible & told them to keep a keen eye out for old coins trapped behind the many crevices. -gilpin 5617

That style of incline railway is called a Funicular. The car going down helps pull up the the lower car. Some even add or remove weight, usually water, so that there is very little energy needed. Pretty simple actually.

I was wondering why there's a random mirror in the elevator. Then I realized it's to make the space seemed bigger than it actually is.
That's a very common trick used by small restaurants and shops- it makes any space feel less claustrophobic.
Drowningflies it could be law, don't know it off the top of my head exactly but if there is not enough space in a Lift/Elevator for a wheelchair to turn around they have to have a mirror. The bit I can't remember is if its just a U.K or just E.U law
