Well, being peruvian and sharing a common history about political processes and social inequality with this particular artist does mean a lot, given thay most of his songs are about issues in Peru (that he might know first hand) . I'm guessing it's too difficult for you to understand this because you are just focusing on the sound of the music but the LYRICS, you probably just can't relate to. I fully relate to them, and probably any other latin american who shares the same history of colonization and corruption in a "third world country". How can I not be proud for this? Being from Peru, same country as IT, though raised in an upper middle class family, I have seen it all, people living outside the city limits in slums, poor as dirt and kids playing in mud with street dogs. I can assure you that this is all very true.
Though this goes beyond America's "white" influence (whatever that is, imo its the wealthy vs the rest), the problem most 3rd world countries suffer from is an outstanding ignorant population, a population quick to protest and get nothing solved afterwards, that is why they're stuck with ignorant union ring leaders, rebel armies, communists, terrorists, and politicians who take the poor farmers who voted for them as suckers by turning their backs on them.
Now unlike the 3rd world, living 14 years in America has allowed to conclude that Americans are affected by the same epidemic with the exception that everything is sugarcoated with 20 different flavors of frozen yogurt, 5 major fast food joints for every 4 miles, entertainment media of all sorts and 3 color choices for your mistress's vibrating dildo you plan on buying her. Also all major protest meetings are held at the local Starbuck's, no more than 400 yards away from the demonstration site in case they need to come back refuel their caffeine intake.
This is what humanity has come to people; those who have the luxury of avoiding the truth more comfortably and those who don't.

I knew Immortal was belittling rappers claiming they're from hard neighborhoods, but I just realized how this song is basically a play/stab on Jay Z's Where I'm From. The chorus is crazy similar. "Been many places but I'm third world born" vs "Mentally been many places but I'm Brooklyn's own". And lots of the verses have similar starts of "I'm from the ______ where ______" just like in Jay Z's track.
