Oil dilution is mainly caused by short trips and hammering on the car before it gets to operating temperature. It's fuel bypassing the rings and going into your crankcase and mixing with your oil. It is important to let the car warm up properly.
I have this issue, any fixes? Can I let the fuel evaporate as well overtime?
Absolutely not, I have a car with oil dilution that is driven even for long trips.
Nice video. I was concerned when I saw you change the oil. Please buy some jack stands. Your Hydraulic jack can fail and this would allow the car come down. Just looking out for you. Take care and again nice video.
Got 14k on mine, still looks mint. Went right from the dealer to the detail shop for a full front xpel clear wrap and a ceramic coat on the pearl white. Living in New England I ended up buying a 2010 civic for the winter months and the Occasional muddy job site.

I've had my Si for exactly 2 months now. I have 4800 miles on it. I got my paint ceramic coated (yes it's not PPF), but I still have a few chips. I even have a chip in the glass. I do notice a few rattles on the interior, the dash having rattles from time to time. When I'm listening to music, or have the windows down I never hear the rattles, so it's seriously not a big deal. However, with that being said nothing is a deal breaker for me. I seriously love this car, it's a blast to drive. The turbo spool and woosh stock is amazing, but I do plan on getting the PRL HVI installed to increase that noise. No exhaust for me for now, as it's my daily driver. But the exhaust still sounds great stock. No one talks about the MPG's, I'm getting 37-42 every single tank. That includes highway cruising, city driving, and street racing haha. Even when I hammer on it day after day, worse case I get 32 MPG'S. There's complaints with every car, but this is one I seriously think is awesome and I'll keep for a long time.
I never understand how people can get that high gas mileage in their Si. I drive modest at best, and cannot get over 28-29 mpg. The only time I see over 30 is if there’s no stop lights and no traffic. But for driving around town and to work, I can’t get over 30. In the summer my best was 32 while really babying it and never flooring it. Winter is 27 average in mixed driving, never flooring it, never going past half throttle.
@Apotheosis make sure you are looking at trip computer app on the touchscreen not mpg on the digital dash. You will get to see your current vs previous trip vs an avg mpg of all miles traveled total on the dash mpg unless you reset your trip every drive. Love my si 32 to 40 mpg comined depending how aggressive i am 😅 plus the stock exhaust sounds great and so does the turbo and blowoff, leasing currently but might just keep it 🙃

its not easy as i average 4k rpm on a daily drive in 6th gear we will just leave it at that so usual mileage is 25mpg highway 😎
@@SIIKAP1 Hi again! That comment was 2 months ago. For the 2 months in between now and that comment, I’ve actually averaged 45 miles per gallon on the highway. This is at 70 mph. Now, I drive like a maniac and drive like a nascar driver on the backroads. So over 11k miles, I’ve averaged around 34 mpg. But regular city and highway driving I still average 38-42. And those maniac drives is what brings the overall average down.
I’m planning on switching to manual which year SI should I aim for ?
Hey just wanted to say in response to the vid, thanks for all ur help. I watched I think maybe almost all ur vids and even though I have an EX and not an Si, I learned a lot about the 11th gen civic platform and got a lot of great ideas on the possible mods a few of which I already have on and planning to get more done soon.
Just wondering also if u think there’s a benefit of one brand of motor oil vs another? I know that the owners manual says 0W-20 but I see that you use Amsoil. Is using that oil any better or worse than another brand of full synthetic 0W-20 oil like Castrol or Mobil 1 for example?

Honestly, any of those oils you named should be more than fine. I currently take my car to the track so I use Amsoil’s Racing 5w-20 oil on the civic Type R for the heat protection and the abuse 😂 but for a daily driver, any full synthetic 0w-20 oil should be fine
@@luiproductions Thanks! Btw another question so I already have the PRL strut bar, waiting still for PRL to ship the rear motor mount (they keep pushing the date back later and later). Do you have any other good recommendations on some more suspension stuff for the civic sedan like a rear sway bar, coil overs, etc? Maybe anything else u were looking to get for the Si before you sold it?
need to see the PRL drop in turbo upgrade next with some tuning on E85 on the dyno......i have nearly the same mods as you have done on my EX only with K-Tuner tunes. Great Videos....keep em coming!
I want to bro, but I don’t have access to that turbo 🥲 and I also would need to upgrade the fuel system and the internals of the car, which unfortunately as far as I can tell, the aftermarket has no support for.

Hey! Congrats on the new car.
It’s to keep the motor from flexing. When the motor flex’s, it creates wheel hop and reduces traction to the front wheels. So the motor Mount will keep the motor from flexing as much and will give you more traction especially as you accelerate out of corners, and even more noticeable if you pair it with a front strut bar
When I installed my down pipe, front pipe from 27won my si my rev match was disabled, and check engine light came on, took it to a dealership and had to put my oem down and front back for my rev match to work again, did you have any problems with yours?
That’s common with the 27WON downpipe. I have a PRL downpipe and have ran it almost a year now I believe and no check engine light and my rev match still works. It has to do with the catalytic converter
About to finally get the PRL turbo inlet pipe finally. Just got the Remark exhaust recently and have the PRL HVI intake with cold air addon and KTuner.

I did a prl intake resonator delete and blowoff and spool sound nice. Did research and with these 1.5t engines it seems the intake resonator just basically reduces sound. The idea is that the turbo and other stuff solves the air wave sissue that the intake resonator in theory would deal with.
My dealer wanted almost 2k for the HPD package. So I only got the black emblems and the HPD rear diffuser. Hopefully I’ll be happy with that.
Paint do suck in this car. Mine is the same chips every where. Other than that no sure if this is happening to you guys as well but my steering wheels sometimes make a little move try to adjust by itself and is extremely annoying. Havent been able to troubleshoot the issue or exactly know where is coming. Any ideas? Cheers
It’s probably your steering assist that’s on. Turn it off.
I agree, it’s more that likely your lane keep assist trying to keep you in the lane or it thinks that you’re going off. It’s not always 100% accurate but works decent. Lmao you’d had the supra. It’s like fighting someone when it turns my wheel for me
Had my '22 Civic Sport in Meteorite Gray since Dec 23, 2021. 8500 miles. 1 oil change, ceramic coated . No issues with the car at all. Paint still looks fresh and no issues.

I try to do it every 5k miles and just like I showed in the video I use amsoil
Nice vid, getting a grey pearl 2023 civic si next month. Amsoil signature series is top tier and you could probably go up to 15k miles or 1 year. Unless you change it under 10k miles you can go with Amsoil OE or XL and use the Amsoil PI every 4K miles and upper cylinder cleaner with every fill up. I’d also use some Jack stands if you are changing your own oil just to be on the safe side.

I haven’t heard that. But no, as of now I plan to stick with the 0w20. Maybe if I was burning oil I’d go with a thicker one but going to 5w-30 wouldn’t do anything for me. If anything it would make the efficiency of the motor go down a bit.

2.0 has way more tuning and power capability than the 1.5 by far. But the 6 speed is so fun and good in this car. If you like the manual get the si. The si is also gonna be slower than the 2.0. It may also be better on gas than that 2.0
Ive never had an issue with oil dilution in my 19 coupe ex-t. However I have noticed my oil gets super dirty by 70% oil life. Im not sure if thats because its DI or what? Ive owned many turbo cars. From VW, to saab. I know on my saabs the oil wouldnt turn so dark after 1500 miles or so. Im one of those guys that changes his oil every 3500 miles. Just an old habit.

I have 2500 miles on my 23 SI. It smells like an electrical burning. Somebody once said its the coat on the exhaust to keep it from rusting. What are your thoughts?
That’s really odd, I’ve never heard of that and I never had a burning smell coming from my car unless you have an exhaust leak or something. Run the car, pop the hood and make sure everything is ok.
@@luiproductions I did. It's hot and smells like electrical not clutch. Imma take it to a dealer and see what they say.
Might be something they use the clean the engine bay , I had the same smell took about a month for it to go away
@@itbelos The dealership said it was normal breaking it do to how the coat the engine. His Honda smells the same. He said it's from all the new parts breaking in to the heat and not to be worried about it. Thanks for the reply.

Because jack stands can tip aswell I preferred jacking up my old si and setting the drive on ramps or wide wooden blocks under the tires. Then i'd leave the jack under but have it locked in at the height of the relaxed suspension. The front valance would not clear to drive straight onto the ramps with my 07, just as im sure they won't clear your lip kit.
Lol I usually just put something solid under the tire as insurance but yes practice safe maintenance, don’t be like me

Heck yeah dude! This car is so easy to learn manual on! I learned how to drive manual on a 2014 civic si and it took me maybe a few drives in an empty parking lot to get it down.
Wireless Apple CarPlay has defiantly been starting to bug in my car too. 8k miles just starting to have issues

I can vouch for the 27won rear motor mount, it's great! Especially after the break in period. Hardly notice any vibrations anymore.
My car is at around 34K KMS, 20K+ of which are basically full bolt on, I haven't had any issues with oil dilution, or any issues at all really except the brake pads..
Question... have you found any aftermarket brake pads for this car? I've seen the big brake kits but I don't personally think it's worth it, some beefy pads would do wonders.

Engines from 2022 to 23 are same. Sport is 2L and si is 1.5L Turbo

I installed a flex fuel sensor that allows me to run difference mixtures of e85 if I wanted to
Speaking to many knowledgeable mechanics and doing a lot of research. Most of the time when people experience oil dilution early on their cars, it's because when they first bought their cars they failed to consider the breaking in period that all newly bought car engines requires regardless , people tend to take the car in the high way right away or abuses and revs the engine and couses the piston rings to ware out unevenly and couses uneven ware on the inner piston wall cylinder then gas fumes makes its way past these Imperfections and mixes with engine oil cousing its protective additives to break down and no longer lubricates the internal components of you engine and well that is Not GooD man Hint ,when you check your dipstick or change the oil it will reek like gas or some what .... At any rate to prevent this in most cases if not all the car needs to run on its first 500 to 1,000 miles of its life at low revs never to reach or exceed 4,000 rapm at 45 mph ,!!! regardless of the engine, then flush out the oil to get rid of the camshaft bits shavings and engine block burrs and vuala coused from the breaking in period.( turbo or supercharged cars suffer from this mainly do to human negligence) Now Takumi Head GTR engineer said that the best rate to always change your oil is at between 2k-3k miles regardless, Takumi opened many engines from testing with different set oil changes intervals and prooved that to never exceed 3k miles oil change interval regardless of oil quality Takumi says he prefers the 2k oil change interval the engine look almost brand new from the enside after testing with many many many miles 🎉 check him out

How come you don't take such a new car to an authorized service (dealership) for servicing? Here in Europe, the car warranty is valid only in case of regular servicing at an authorized service center.
As for gasoline in oil. You sniffed the dipstick ? Every generation 10 1.5t Civic in the world has a dipstick smell of petrol. But this does not mean that there is a lot of gasoline in the oil, because it evaporates. I myself have a civic 10 gen 1.5t 2020 and the oil has smelled of gasoline since new, but the oil level has never risen or fallen. So no worries. I myself use Motul 8100 Eco-Lite 0W20 oil. If amsoil was available, I would use the same as you, but unfortunately it is not.
I do it myself because I get to make a video and I already voided my warranty with all the bolt ons 😂 plus I know how to change my oil so I’m not worried about me messing it up. The car is sold now and I now have an FL5 Type R.
@@luiproductions The warranty for the first three years comes in handy due to possible factory defects, because if your engine or transmission dies, you are without a warranty on your own. And it can be very expensive. On the other hand, we don't like authorized repairmen either because they rip you off in broad daylight. I know that in America you call them stealership.

Lol I do my oil change every 5k miles not 10k 😂. Synthetic oils can go as far as 7500 miles. Oil tech has come a long way.
And I’m sure wax would help, but ppf would probable be the best option

I just worked on a car that the battery was reading 10v and eps wasn’t working. I think I prefer an electric motor over a huge mess of power steering fluid
i didnt like the idea of electronic power steering on my mustang but ive had it for 10 years now and never had a problem. unless youre saying this car specifically has been having issues with the eps but in general i dont think its a bad thing

I bought a 2022 SI and ended up selling it with 700 miles. It was really a blast to drive but there were a couple of things I didn’t like:
- Paint quality/chipping like you mentioned
- Throttle delay
- Rev hang
- Radio wouldn’t keep the correct time regardless of the setting
- Wastegate Actuator started making a funny noise when on load and letting off
- Driver seat was not really comfortable
- Too stiff for long drives
- Lastly, the engine seems to be weak. A few people have been blowing them with just a simple tune which is pretty scary.
It might seems like I’m just being picky, but when you look at the price tag, it just doesn’t make sense compared to the quality you’re getting. (Impossible to find them at MSRP)

@@B.K.7 I know who he’s talking about and they were both on aggressive tunes making around 280wtq at 2500rpm which is a big no no. One of them was actually trying to blow it up to find the limit on it. Other guy was tracking it on a similar tune making power at the same rev range.
@Luis Ramirez yeah I saw about a month ago Ososick blew his up but they pushed over 30 psi, they were asking for it. I have the TSP stage 1 tune on mine and it's been fine.
@@B.K.7 yeah and prior to that turbo he was on that aggressive tune so the damage was done before hand. The turbo just ended it since when it happened, the driver wasn’t even on the throttle. Driver was just cruising on the way too the track from the stationing area.

Oil dilution is caused by ignorant drivers who are new to turbo cars. Even on the WRX it states short drives are considered harsh driving or not letting the engine get to operating temperature, and Subaru has been making turbos much longer than Honda.
