    I’ll say it again, the 3 trillion dollar CARES Act would have given every man, woman and child a $1000 a month for 9 months. All we got was $1200. Instead, we bailed out the rich and large corporations. Socialism for the rich, unchecked capitalism for the rest of us.

Disabled vet is honestly a very small minority of the general disabled population..... Not to mention disabled people lack a means to sustaining themselves from birth vs a vet who may have had family/friend/wife and saving already in addition to Vet benefits. I dont mean to compare the 2. Both deserve all that they can but it boggles my mind the govt doesn't distribute a clear legal service for disabled people....Like just act like they dont exist and people are only disabled from war

      @NoJusticeNoPeace Před 3 lety +61

      Why? None of them cared about you when you were homeless. I've lived in destitution all my life, been homeless repeatedly because landlords wouldn't accept someone with a disabilty even when I came with cash in hand, and I've learned how to survive on the edges by sleeping in sheds and eating out of dumpsters. Now let the middle class experience what everyone else has been living with for decades.

    • @NoJusticeNoPeace
      @NoJusticeNoPeace Před 3 lety +22

      @Fed-up I'm a sperglord. I can't do small talk, my interests are esoteric, and I talk, dress, and act so differently from most people that I've been told I come off like an "axe murderer." Apparently what bothers people the most is that I overshare with complete honesty; I lack whatever it is which allows most people to lie constantly and effortlessly about _everything._
      This means I can't hold any job for more than a few months even if I can manage to act my way through an interview, can't get landlords to rent me a home, get sub-standard health care, and so on. I've survived by doing work which doesn't require any physical contact with human beings (like writing erotica), but it's getting harder and harder to survive on the margins like that as the world becomes meaner and more conformist.

      @@andreamiller1285 Dear Andrea: We need more than term limits. We need a new US Constitution. NOWHERE in the present Constitution does it mandate the Fed Govt to care about public welfare, not during a pandemic or EVER. FDR recognized this structural deficiency in the Constitution in his last State Of The Union address in 1945 when he called for an Economic Bill Of Rights to mandate full time employment, free medical care, free education, expanded SocSec and more. Unfortunately he died soon after this speech. But what FDR admitted publicly is that the Constitution has such a basic flaw that it would require a number of amendments to fix it, as happened when the 1st Bill Of Rights was enacted. Remember that the American Revolution of 1776 was NOT a "people's revolution". It was literally a "businessmen's revolution". America freed itself from Britain for the benefit of American business, and not for the benefit of the American people as a whole. Therefore, the Rich White Men who founded this nation wrote a Constitution that was more like a corporate charter than a plan for a national government. That's the way that it's been since Day #1 in America, and what we see today is just the latest chapter. Another election, or another 10 more elections won't fix what's wrong with America, Andrea. I’m leaving early so I don’t have to be in a house with strangers coming in. Meanwhile she’s neglected to fix a leak in the basement for two years. That sounds awful. Your landlord is definetely a selfish person but not all landlords are like that. I live in South America and my parents have one very small house and a two room space (inherited and bought for a low price a long time ago) that they rent and they care about their tenants, they fix whatever problem that presents, they charge a small amount (less than the average price) and haven't collected the rent money since the pandemic started (they still work jobs and we are middle class) I believe landlords have to think about the future, put realistic prices and care for the tenants that take care of the property and pay on time (this covid time is an exception imo, I'd say divide the rent amount and pay it over, say a year).
      I do reckon that the housing and renting system in the U.S is terrible for so many people. It's so cold and disconnected to the working people's needs and mostly just defends the rich.

    New Orleans is the WORST when it comes to cruelty from the law, regarding evictions.
    I paid rent on a Tuesday, went to work on Weds, and about 10 minutes after I got home (after an 11 hour shift as a car repair shop manager/mech) the cops showed up and told me I had TEN MINUTES to leave! I was freaked. I'd just paid ALL the rent for me and my room mate the day before..... didn't matter.
    The thing is, is that the apt. manager hadn't added me to the lease yet. For whatever reason. I thought I was on the lease and the manager hadn't said a thing when I paid the rent the day before. So, my clinically schizophrenic room mate decided out of the blue he wanted me out. No clue, no warning and it seems he was off his meds.
    And me? I was out of luck. Didn't matter WHAT I said. Didn't matter I'd just shelled out $1600 the day before. I had ten minutes to grab what I could, and leave, or be arrested. I was blown away. I left New Orleans 2 weeks later.
    So glad I live on the West Coast!

A receipt was worthless to the cops, because my name wasn't on the lease. In fact, when I got in my car, packed with as much as I could grab in 10 minutes, the cops said I had to hand over my gate card, and when I refused, they pulled a freaking gun on me!!! Lethal threat from cops, over a gate card!! I said I had to be able to come back for my belongings, they told me tough sh*t and to hand it over or they would open fire!
